Quidway® S8500 LSBM1SRP
Main Control Board Series
Overview
Quidway® S8500. It can make configuration management and status monitor for entire
system and has the clock processing function. The board provides data switch and route
protocol processing function between Line Processing Unit (LPU) boards, implements the
across-board forwarding of service data and implements the centralized switching of
system. Each S8500 device should be configured with one main control board at least.
Two main control boards are recommended for redundancy protection. At present,
LSBM1SRP main control board provides five types: LSBM1SRP1N0, LSBM1SRP1N1,
LSBM1SRP1N2, LSBM1SRP1N3 and LSBM1SRP1M0.
As the core of S8500 route switch, LSBM1SRP switching route processing board provides
the following functions:
1. Implement such functions as switching, route protocol processing, equipment
management control and monitor, and clock processing.
2. Use 1+1 backup and 1:1 load sharing design, realize auto protection switchover and
ensure the uninterrupted system running.
3. Monitor the environment and state, including the state of temperature, fan and power,
and controls the rotation speed of each fan.
4. Provide a standard IDE interface, which can be inserted into CF card (Compact
Flash Card) to provide data storage capability for system (the capacity of CF card is
256 Mbytes by default, which can be expanded as required).
5. Back up the CF card and FAT table through NVRAM to save the configuration data of
user.
6. Provide the running indicator for Line Processing Units (LPUs) for the front panel,
which provides the running information of system vividly for user.
7. Provide multiple management interfaces such as 10/100M Ethernet port and RS232
serial port, have an independent management channel for each LPU board and
provide uniform management and maintenance for system.

8. Provide level 3 clock function and external clock interface through the clock pinch
board, provide level 3 clock reference for LPUs in the system and lock the interface
extraction clock provided by LPU.
Specifications
The LSBM1SRP main control board series provides the following interface externally:
AUX interface
The AUX interface uses an RJ-45 connector. The interface can serve as a backup
interface for the Console port to connect a background terminal, or directly connect a
Modem device, for remote system debugging, configuration, maintenance and
management. It can also connect the background terminal computer.

Console interface
This Console interface uses RJ45 connector, which can be used to connect the

loading the host software program.

Ethernet interface for management (10Base-T/100Base-TX) uses RJ-45 connector. It can
be used to connect the background computer for system program loading and debugging.
It can connect the remote network management workstation and implement system
remote management.

Service System program upgrade and network management
RS232/RS485 multiplexing interface
RS232/RS485 multiplexing interface uses RJ-45 connector. It connects external POE
power frame when supporting the POE function. It monitors the status of external POE
power.

CF card interface
The CF card interface uses the panel interface and supports standard limited hot swap of
CF card. It supports 256 M or 1 G capacity, for storing log, host version, alarm and other
diagnosis information, convenient for the online upgrade of switch software.
Clock interface
LSBM1SRP1N3 main control board provides four SMB coaxial clock interface, are used
as the external benchmark input for internal clock modules or the clock benchmark for
external devices.

Provides stratum-3 clock interface, two interface used as input and two interface used as output.
The input port receives 2048 KHz or 2048 Kbps clock. The output port provides 2048 KHz
or 2048 Kbps clock externally. The clock type is selected through DIP on the clock pinch
board.
Application of Product
The LSBM1SRP main control board series can be applied in four systems: S8502, S8505,
S8508 and S8512. Each system has a main control board corresponding to it. The
relationship is listed below:

In different system, the main control board is in a different slot. In the S8502 frame, the
main control board is in slots 0 and 1. In the S8505 frame, the main control board is in
slots 0 and 1. In the S8508 frame, the main control board is in slots 4 and 5. In the S8512
frame, the main control board is in slots 7 and 8.
