Quidway® NetEngine 5000E Core Router
10GE Optical Interface Boards
Based on the 10G platform, the Quidway® NetEngine 5000E core router (hereinafter referred to as "NE5000E") supports 10GE optical interface boards with different port densities. Having 16 service slots and supporting multi-chassis cascading, the NE5000E i s scalable to provide high -densit y 10G interfaces, fully satisfying super core node requirements of IP backbone networks. The NE5000E has a switching capacity of 2.56 Tbps, achieving the wire-speed forwarding performance on high-density 10G interfaces.
The 10GE optical interface boards provided by the E5000E fall into two categories: W AN board and LAN board. Their differences are as follows:
z The WAN board encapsulates Ethernet MAC frames in the SDH/SONET frame structure and
then transmits them over optical fibers. It can be connected with the interfaces of another WAN board or with the SDH/SONET transmission equipment. The WAN board is mainly applied in WAN interconnection of the Ethernet.
z The LAN board conducts electrical/optical (E/O) conversion of Ethernet MAC frames and then
directly transmits them via optical fibers. It can be connected only to the interface of another LAN board. It is mainly applied in LAN interconnection of the Ethernet.
CR52K-10GE-LAN-10KM
The 10G LAN board mainly implements 10G LAN processi ng and interface fun ctions. The i nte rface complies with IEEE 802.3ae, implements MAC and Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) functions and provides functions such as loopback, environment monitoring and information query.
The 10G WAN board mainly implements 10G WAN processing and interface functions. The interface complies with IEEE 802.3ae, implements MAC, PCS and Wide Area Interface Sublayer (WIS) functions and provides functions such as loopback, environment monitoring and information query.

Currently , the NE5000E provides two types of 10GE optical interface board s: 1-port and 2-port. The first type uses pluggable XFP optical modules, and the latter type uses fixed optical modules. Before networking, you must first choose between 10G LAN board and 10G WAN board based on their differences, then choose between 1-port and 2-port 10GE optical interface boards based on network requirements, and finally choose between pluggable XFP optical module s and fixed optical modules for the 10G optical interface board based on transmission distance requirements.
Specifications
Currently, the NE5000E supports three types of 10G LAN boards and three types of 10G WAN boards. Among them, two use pluggable XFP optical modules (2-port), and the other four use fixed optical modules (1-port). The specifications are listed below:
