Quidway® NetEngine 5000E Core Router

OC-48c/STM-16c POS Optical Interface Boards

Overview

The Quidway® NetEngine 5000E core router (hereinafter referred to as "NE5000E") provides
OC-48c/STM-16c POS optical interface boards with different port densities to connect with SDH
transmission equipment or other equipment. These boards can be installed in any service slot of
the NE5000E, and provide 2.5G transmission channels. As the NE5000E has16 service slots, and
each board can provide up to 8-port OC-48c/STM-16c POS interfaces and support multi-chassis
cascading, the whole system can provide high-density 2.5G POS interfaces.

The OC-48c/STM-16c POS optical interface board mainly implements POS frame
encapsulation/decapsulation of data flows, SDH/SONET mapping/demapping of POS frames,
provides 2.5 Gbps external optical interfaces, and enables such functions as loopback,
environment monitoring and information query.

The OC-48c/STM-16c POS optical interface board is hot-pluggable. You can install or remove
interface boards while the NE5000E is powered on, without affecting services of other interface
boards. Hot-pluggable and plug-and-play SFP optical modules can be used on the
OC-48c/STM-16c POS optical interface board, achieving a rate of 2.5 Gbps. You can choose
optical modules with different transmission distance s according to networking requirements.

The NE5000E provides four types of OC-48c/STM-16c POS optical interface boards with different
port densities. The specifications are listed below:
