Instructions for Re-Installing Processor(s)
after replacing the system board, processor or
processor turbocooler heatsink
1. If reusing the original processor and/or turbocooler heatsink, discard the old thermal interface material. You do not need to scrape off any thermal material that adheres to the processor or turbocooler heatsink.
CAUTION Always add the fresh thermal interface material that is included in the support part kit for the processor, turbocooler heatsink, or system board.
2. Ensure that the ZIF socket lever on the system board is in the UP (open) position.
3. Orient the processor by matching the notches on the processor to the notches on the ZIF socket.
4. Carefully lower the new processor into place. When the processor is fully inserted, close the ZIF lever.
CAUTION Be extremely careful inserting the processor. If you bend one of the pins, it will not go into the socket.
5. Center the fresh thermal interface material on the processor chip.
6. Place the turbocooler heatsink on the processor. Use the retaining clips to attach the turbocooler heatsink to the black plastic retainers on the system board.
