NOTICE: When installing HP±UX 10.xx on the 9±GB drive, you may receive an HP±UX Install Utility Message Dialog with the following error reported:

ERROR: The disk at address ªx/x/x.x.xº requires more than the current limit of 2000 physical extents (of size 4 megabytes (MB)) to completely allocate all its available space (8676 MB). You must either increase the physical extent size or increase the limit for maximum physical extents for the volume group ªvgxxº. (See the ªModify Volume Group Parametersº screen.)

Select Modify Configuration at the bottom of the messages dialog.

At the next screen, select Modify Volume Group Parameters.

At this screen you should change either the number of extents or the size of the extents.

A greater number of extents uses more in±core memory, but results in less file fragmentation on the disk.

We suggest the following:

If your system has 64MB or less of system

RAM, increase the value for

Physical Extent Size.

If your system has more than 64MB of system RAM increase the value for

Maximum Physical Extents.
