For safe and accurate operation of your scale, please follow the instructions below:
• Never transport your scale with a baby on the tray.
• Be careful not to drop your scale, as this will damage it.
Always use your scale on a at, stable surface in order to maintain accuracy.
• Always replace the batteries immediately when the low battery indicator appears.
• Do not overload the scale with any weight heavier than 45lbs (23kg). This may cause damage to the scale which is not covered by the warranty.
• Always place the baby in the center of the tray for the most accurate reading.
These devices are not suitable for use in the presence of any ammable gas such as an anesthetic mixture with air, oxygen, or nitrous oxide.
• Do not submerge your scale in water or any other liquid.
Do not operate these scales at a voltage or frequency other than specied to avoid damaging them.
• Always check this device to make sure that it is in proper working condition before use.
• Always remove the batteries if the scale is not going to be used for an extended period of time to prevent corrosion. Battery compartment corrosion is not covered under the limited warranty.

ON/TARE Button:
• Press once to turn on the scale
• Press once to tare out the scale
• Press and hold for 3 seconds to turn off the scale
This button turns the scale on and off. It also tares the scale to zero (if an object on the scale is not to be included in the weight measurement, such as a scale liner or baby blanket.)

Toggles units of measure
This button selects either pounds & ounces or kilograms for the units.

RECALL Button:
Recalls saved measurements
This allows the user to recall the last mea­surement. You can remove the baby, press the recall key and see the baby’s weight again.
Negative Value Indicator
The Negative indicator will display when the scale reads a negative weight reading. This may occur if the scale has been tared.

ZERO Indicator
This indicates that the scale is stable and ready for use.

Memory Indicator
This displays when a weight reading is complete and saved in the memory. This also displays when a reading is recalled from the memory.
Stability indicator
This is displayed when a weight reading is complete. It will not show while the weight reading is being calculated.

6-Digit LCD digital display
The LCD displays the weight in pounds and ounces or kilograms as shown by the "lb" or "kg" indicator on the right side of the display.

Lb & Oz indicator
This indicates that the scale is reading in Pound and Ounce units.

Kg indicator
This indicates that the scale is reading in Kilogram units.
Low battery indicator
This indicates that the batteries are low and will need to be replaced.
Overload indicator
This indicates that the baby or object placed on the scale is over the maximum weight capacity of 44lbs (20kg).
Error indicator
This indicates an error has occurred. This will display when the "RECALL" button is pressed if the last weight reading was less than 2lbs, 3oz (1kg).

Hopkins® Baby Scales are lightweight, portable, and accurate weight measurement devices that utilize highly sophisticated microprocessor technology which allows accurate, reliable, and repeatable measurements every time.
Using the AC Adapter (#688340 Only)
The Hopkins® Featherweight XL Baby Scale can be powered using either the included four AA batteries, or with the included AC Adapter. Always inspect the AC Adapter to make sure the cord is not cut or frayed and the prongs in the plug and the connector jack are not bent or corroded. For safety, it is recommended to plug the AC Adapter into a surge protector or GFIC outlet.
*Note: The scale will automatically shut off when switching power sources.
