Federal Communications Commission Part 68 - Equipment Statement
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC Rules. On the bottom of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC Registration Number, Ringer Equivalence Number (REN), and USOC jack type for this equipment. If requested, this information must be provided to your telephone company. An FCC compliant telephone cord and phone jack is provided with this equipment. This equipment is designed to be connected to the telephone network or premises wiring using a compatible phone jack which is Part 68 compliant. See installation instructions for details. The REN is used to determine the quantity of devices which may be connected to the telephone line. Excessive RENs on the telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the RENs should not exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to the line, as determined by the total RENs contact the telephone company to determine the maximum REN for the calling area.
If this equipment HPW-630ETR series causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice is not practical, the telephone company will notify the customer
as soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe it is necessary.

Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinated by a representative designated by supplier. Any repairs or alterations made by the user to this equipment, or equipment malfunctions, may give the telecommunications company cause to request the user to disconnect the equipment. Users should ensure for their own protection that the electrical ground connections of the power utility, telephone lines and internal metallic water pipe system, if present, are connected together. This precaution may be particularly important in rural areas.
Caution : Users should not attempt to make such connections themselves, but should contact the appropriate electric inspection authority, or electrician, as appropriate. "
"NOTICE : The Ringer Equivalence Number(REN) assigned to each terminal device provides an indication of the maximum number of terminals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalence Numbers of all the devices does not exceed 5."

• Before Use
Chapter 1: Handling Precautions
This section describes the operating precautions you must follow to protect your
HPW-630ETR from damage and data losses.
• Never detach the main battery or backup battery except for a full reset. Any such action would destroy all user data in the
HPW-630ETR.
• For the procedure of replacing the main battery and backup battery, see Part 1 "Hardware Setup," 4.1.5 Replacing the Main Battery and 4.1.6 Replacing the Backup Battery.
When the main battery is low, recharge it with the AC adapter. If your
HPW-630ETR
will be unused for a long period, recharge it occasionally or make a backup copy
of data on your PC or flash memory card. If left unused for a long time, the battery will get low for data backup, resulting in data losses. For details, see Part 1 "Hardware Setup," 4.1.4 Backup Time for User Data.
• Do not use your
HPW-630ETR while the main battery is disconnected. Even if
you are using it with the AC adapter connected to it, always use it with the main battery attached.
• This
HPW-630ETR
may suffer memory changes or loss due to mishandling or damage. If you do not want to lose your data, make a backup copy of the data on your PC or flash memory card.
• Before making a backup copy of data, always connect your
HPW-630ETR to the
AC adapter.
If you are using a flash memory card for backup or other purposes, do not remove
the flash memory card.
• Always keep the battery lock switch in the LOCK position. When the switch is in the FREE position, your
HPW-630ETR will not get powered up.
While using
HPW-630ETR
, do not move the battery lock switch to the FREE position.
If you move it to FREE position, all unsaved data in running applications will be lost.
Be careful not to let the
HPW-630ETR
sustain any type of impact, such as dropping
or
hitting it.
If you are using HPW-630ETR for a long period (more than several months) on the condition that you connect HPW-630ETR to AC adapter, pull out AC adapter, and put in AC adapter and then recharge the main battery again once a several months.
28
Here are the instructions you should follow in everyday use to make sure your
HPW-630ETR is kept in good condition.
• It is protected water drops. Not protected heavy rain, sprying water, splashing
water, water jet, etc. Do not use it in a place exposed to water splashes or
moisture.
When connecting a cable to a connector of the
HPW-630ETR
, insert or remove the
cable connector with a straight motion.
Overstraining it may damage the connector.
• Do not put a foreign object into a card slot or other opening.
• Do not place a heavy object on the
HPW-630ETR.
• Do not press the LCD touch panel or its surroundings with a force stronger than necessary.
In cleaning the LCD touch panel, simply wipe off the dust. To remove dirt from the LCD touch panel, wipe it off gently with a dry, soft cloth.
• While using HPW-630ETR, the surroundings of the LCD touch panel and the AC adapter may get hot. This is a normal occurrence.
• When recharging the battery, always use a Hitachi-specified AC adapter (HPWWACA) and a lithium-ion battery pack (HPW-LBT2).
• Do not operate the LCD touch panel with anything other than the stylus pen furnished with the HPW-630ETR. Any such action might scratch or damage the LCD touch panel, resulting in injury.
• When operating the stylus pen furnished with the
HPW-630ETR, press the LCD
touch panel gently.
• If you use the LCD touch panel with dust on it, its surface may get scratched.
• When putting the
HPW-630ETR away, do not cover the LCD touch panel with an
object on it. Any such practice may damage the LCD touch panel.
• The LCD touch panel of this
HPW-630ETR incorporates an STN liquid crystal.
It may flicker depending on the contrast or backlight intensity setting. In such a case, control the contrast or backlight intensity as the case may be.
When you are not using the card slot, always keep a card protector (furnished with the HPW-630ETR
) in it.
• When inserting and removing PC card / CF card, do not let the
HPW-630ETR
sustain unreasonable force and impact.
