If an outside antenna or cabl e system is connect ed to
the TV, be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded
to provi de some protectio n against voltage s urges
and built-up static charg es. Section 810 of th e National
Electr ical Code, ANSI/NFPA NO.70,provides
inform ation with respec t to proper groundi ng
of the mast and supporting st ructure, ground ing
of the lead-in wire to an anten na discharge unit ,
size of grounding conduct ors, location of
antenna discharge unit, c onnection to grou nding
electrodes, and require ments for the groun ding
electrode.(Fig.A)
18. LIGHTNING: For added pr otection for this T V receiver
during a l ightning storm, o r when it is left unatt ended
and unused for long periods o f time, unplug it fro m the
wall outlet and disconnec t the antenna or cabl e system.
This will prevent damage to t he TV due to lightnin g and power line surges.
19. POWER LINES: An outside antenna system should no t be located in the vic inity of overhead p ower lines, or other electric
light or power circuits, or w here it can fall into s uch power lines or circuits. When installing an outs ide antenna syste m,
extreme care should be take n to keep from touchi ng such power lines or circuits as contact with them mig ht be fatal.
20. OVERLOADING: Do not ove rload wall outlet s and extension cords as this can result in a risk of fire or el ectric shock.
