TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION
e light will not come on. 1. Light switch is turned o.
2. Fuse is blown or circuit breaker is turned o.
3. Daylight turn-o (photocell) is in eect.
4. e circuit wiring is incorrect, if this is a new
installation.
5. e motion sensor is aimed in the wrong
direction.
6. e outside air temperature is close to the
same as a person’s body heat.
1. Turn light switch on.
2. Replace fuse or turn circuit breaker on.
3. Recheck after dark.
4. Verify wiring is correct.
5. Re-aim the motion sensor to cover the
desired area.
6. See
Seasonal Changes
on page 4 for more
information.
e light comes on during
the day.
1. e motion sensor may be installed in a
relatively dark location.
2. e control dial is in the “TEST” position.
1. e light xture is operating normally under
these circumstances.
2. Turn the control dial between 5 seconds and
5 minutes.
e light comes on for no
apparent reason.
1. e motion sensor may be sensing small
animals or automobile trac.
2. e outside temperature is much warmer or
cooler than a person’s body heat (summer or
winter).
3. e light xture is wired through a dimmer
or timer.
1. Reposition the motion sensor.
2. See
Seasonal Changes
on page 4 for more
information.
3. Do not use a dimmer or timer to control the
light xture. Replace the dimmer or timer
with a standard on/o wall switch.
e lights stay on
continuously.
1. e motion sensor may be picking up a heat
source like an air vent, dryer vent, or brightly
painted, heat-reective surface.
2. e motion sensor is in manual mode.
3. e light xture is wired through a dimmer
or timer.
4. e light xture is on the same circuit as a
motor, transformer, or uorescent bulb.
1. Reposition the motion sensor.
2. Turn the control dial between 5 seconds and
5 minutes. Follow
Manual Mode
instructions
on page 4 to reset.
3. Do not use a dimmer or timer to control the
light xture. Replace the dimmer or timer
with a standard on/o wall switch.
4. Install the light xture on a circuit without
motors, transformers, or uorescent bulbs.
e lights ash on and o. 1. Heat or light from the lamp heads may be
turning the motion sensor on and o.
2. Heat is being reected from other objects
and may be turning the motion sensor on
and o.
3. e motion sensor is in “TEST” mode and
warming up.
1. Reposition the lamp heads away from the
motion sensor.
2. Reposition the motion sensor.
3. While in TEST mode, the light only stays on
for 8 seconds. Turn the control dial between 5
seconds and 5 minutes.
e lights ash once then
stay o in manual mode.
e motion sensor is detecting light from the
lamp heads.
Reposition the lamp heads to keep the area below
the motion sensor relatively dark.
