This manual provides the installation, safety and operating instructions for the Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmer. We recommend all installation, operating and safety instructions appearing in this manual be read prior to installation or operation of your Hatco Merchandising Warmer. Safety instructions that appear in this manual after a warning symbol and the words WARNING or CAUTION printed in bold face are very important.
WARNING means there is the possibility of serious injury or death to yourself or others. CAUTION means there is the possibility of minor or moderate injury. CAUTION without the symbol signifies the possibility of equipment or property damage only.
Hatco Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmers are a product of extensive research and field testing. The materials used were selected for maximum durability, attractive appearance and optimum performance. Every unit is thoroughly inspected and tested prior to shipment.

INTRODUCTION
The Hatco Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmer is designed to safely hold all foods at optimum serving temperatures without affecting quality.
The Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmer keeps wrapped or packaged foods hot at kitchen work areas, waitress pick-up stations or customer serving points. This warmer features electronically-controlled heated shelves with prefocused infrared top heat to extend the holding times of most food. The infrared heating elements are guaranteed against breakage and burnout for two years and the base heating elements are guaranteed against burnout for one year. The Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmers are shipped with display lights, a cord and plug set and easy-to-install sign holder.

WARNINGS
Genuine Hatco Replacement Parts are specified to operate safely in the environments in which they are used. Some aftermarket or generic replacement parts do not have the characteristics that will allow them to operate safely in Hatco equipment. It is essential to use Hatco Replacement Parts when repairing Hatco equipment. Failure to use Hatco Replacement Parts may subject operators of the equipment to hazardous electrical voltage, resulting in electrical shock or burn.
CAUTIONS
Some exterior surfaces on the unit will get hot. Use caution when touching these areas to avoid injury.
Unit is not weatherproof. For safe and proper operation locate the unit indoors
where the ambient air temperature is constant and is a minimum of 70°F (21°C).
Locate the unit at the proper counter height in an area that is convenient for use. The location should be level to prevent the unit or its contents from accidentally falling, and strong enough to support the weight of the unit and food.
To avoid any injury, do not come in contact with the heated glass shelf while unit is in operation.
To avoid any injury or damage to the unit do not move or relocate the unit for cleaning.
To avoid any injury or damage to the unit do not remove side glass during cleaning.
CAUTIONS
Abrasive cleaners could scratch the finish of your unit.
Do not lay unit on the side with the control panel or damage to unit could occur.
Avoid contacting the shelf with sharp objects or abrasive materials that may scratch the glass surface.
Do not allow the glass shelf to overheat. Overheating may cause the food containers to melt or soften.
Do not drag or slide the unit when moving or installing. Carefully lift the unit to prevent the rubber feet from tearing off.

To avoid any injury, turn the power switch off at the fuse disconnect switch/circuit breaker or unplug the unit from the power source and allow to cool completely before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
Plug unit into a properly grounded electrical outlet of the correct voltage, size and plug configuration. If the plug and receptacle do not match, contact a qualified electrician to determine the proper voltage and size and install the proper electrical outlet.
Do not place food directly on glass or stainless steel surfaces. Food product must be wrapped or boxed.
Units are not waterproof. DO NOT submerge in water. Do not operate if unit has been submerged in water.
To avoid any injury, do not allow liquids to spill onto the heated glass shelf.
To avoid any injury, do not clean heated glass shelf when unit is energized or hot.
For safe and proper operation, the unit must be located a reasonable distance from combustible walls and materials. If safe distances are not maintained, discoloration or combustion could occur.
Only light bulbs which meet or exceed N.S.F. standards, specifically designed for food holding areas must be used. Breakage of light bulbs not specially coated could result in personal injury and/or food contamination.

The Hatco Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmer is ideal for holding hot, wrapped food at customer serving points. This model features a prefocused metal-sheathed heating element above, an electronically controlled heated glass center shelf and an electronic thermostat controlled heated stainless steel base. Units also feature a lighted On/Off switch, sign holder (sign not included), personnel protectors, incandescent display lights and a 6' (183 cm) cord and plug set attached.
PLUG CONFIGURATIONS
Units are supplied from the factory with an electrical cord and plug installed. Plugs are supplied according to the applications as shown in Figure 2.

LOCATION
For proper operation and maximum performance, locate the Merchandising Warmer in an area where the ambient air temperature is constant and is a minimum of 70°F (21°C). Areas which are susceptible to active air movements or currents should be avoided, i.e., near exhaust fans or hoods and air conditioning ducts.
WARNING For safe and proper operation, the unit must be located a reasonable distance from combustible walls and materials. If safe distances are not maintained, discoloration or combustion could occur.
INSTALLATION

Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmers are shipped with most components pre-assembled. Care should be taken when unpacking shipping carton to avoid damage to unit and components enclosed.
1. Remove the unit from the carton.
2. Remove information packet. To prevent delay in
obtaining warranty coverage, fill out and mail in the warranty card.
3. Remove all tape and packing materials.
4. Remove upper two screws from each side of the unit. See Figure 3.
5. Install sign holder using original screws.
6. Tighten thumb screws holding personnel protectors in place until snug. See Figure 3.
7. Slide each glass panel up into the upper channel then down into the lower channel. See Figure 4.
NOTE: Side glass panels have a special “Low E” coating applied to one side. The “Low E” coated side must face inward and the word on the glass “out” must face outward.
CAUTION Do not lay unit on the side with the control panel or damage to unit could occur.

CAUTION Locate the unit at the proper counter height, in an area that is convenient for use. The location should be level to prevent the unit or its contents from accidentally falling, and strong enough to support the weight of the unit and food displayed.

1. Plug unit into a properly grounded electrical outlet of the correct voltage, size and plug configuration. See SPECIFICATIONS for details.
2. Place the On/Off rocker switch in the ON position. The incandescent lights and upper infrared heat are controlled by the rocker switch. The rocker switch must be in the ON position when in use. See Figure 5.
3. The stainless steel base heat is regulated by a preset electronic temperature controller set for 200° F. See Figure 5.
If an adjustment is required remove the protective cover and follow these steps:
A. To set temperature, turn Mode Switch
counterclockwise to the “SP-1” position. See Figure 6.
B. Using a small screwdriver turn the setpoint
screw until the desired temperature setting is indicated.
NOTE: Electronic temperature controller is adjustable from room temperature to 220°F.
C. Turn Mode Switch clockwise to “TEMP”
position.
D. Allow 20-30 minutes for the temperature
to adjust.
4. The center heated glass shelf temperature is controlled by an electronic thermostat. See Figure 5.
If an adjustment is required remove the protective cover and rotate the control knob to the desired setting. Allow 20-30 minutes for the temperature to reach the desired level.
NOTE: Glass shelf is operating properly when “red light” is lit. Contact your Authorized Service Agent, or contact the Hatco Service Department at 800-558-0607 or 414-671-6350 if unit is turned on and “red light” is off.

To preserve the finish of the Glo-Ray Merchandising Warmer, it is recommended that the metal surfaces be wiped daily with a damp cloth. The glass shelf and side panels should be cleaned with ordinary glass cleaner and a damp soft cloth or paper towel.
CAUTION Avoid contacting the shelf with sharp objects or abrasive materials that may scratch the glass surface.
CAUTION Abrasive cleaners could scratch the finish of your unit.
LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT
The display lights are shatter-resistant, incandescent light bulbs which illuminate the warming area. These bulbs have a special coating to guard against injury and food contamination in the event of breakage.
1. To replace a light bulb, disconnect the power supply from the unit and wait until the unit has cooled.
2. Light bulbs have a threaded base. Unscrew the light bulb from the unit and replace it with a new specially coated incandescent light bulb.
NOTE: Hatco shatter-resistant light bulbs meet N.S.F. standards for food holding and display areas. For 120 volt applications, use Hatco part #02.30.043.00.
WARNING Only light bulbs which meet or exceed N.S.F. standards, specifically designed for food holding areas must be used. Breakage of light bulbs not specially coated could result in personal injury and/or food contamination.
GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPT
The GRHW-1SGD is supplied with a built in Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt (GFCI) which is designed to turn electrical power off to the internal components when there is a short circuit or electrical fault. See Figure 5.
To reset the “GFCI” push the red reset button in. If the “GFCI” continues to trip, contact your local Authorized Hatco Service Agency.

HATCO LIMITED WARRANTY
1. PRODUCT WARRANTY
Hatco warrants the products that it manufactures (the “Products”) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship, under normal use and service, for a period of one (1) year from the date of purchase when installed and maintained in accordance with Hatco’s written instructions or 18 months from the date of shipment from Hatco. Buyer must establish the product’s purchase date by returning Hatco’s Warranty Registration Card or by other means satisfactory to Hatco in its sole discretion.
Hatco warrants the following Product components to be free from defects in materials and workmanship from the date of purchase (subject to the foregoing conditions) for the period(s) of time and on the conditions listed below:

Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, SUCH WARRANTIES DO NOT COVER: Coated incandescent light bulbs, fluorescent lamps, lamp warmer heat bulbs, glass components or Product failure in booster tank and fin tube heat exchanger caused by liming, sediment buildup, chemical attack or freezing in tanks, Product misuse, tampering or misapplication, improper installation, application of improper voltage, or recalibration of thermostats or high limit switches.
2. LIMITATION OF REMEDIES AND DAMAGES
Hatco’s liability and Buyer’s exclusive remedy hereunder will be limited solely, at Hatco’s option, to repair or replacement by a Hatco-authorized service agency (other than where Buyer is located outside of the United States or Canada, in which case Hatco’s liability and Buyer’s exclusive remedy hereunder will be limited solely to replacement of part under warranty) with respect to any claim made within the applicable warranty period referred to above. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, all portable Products (as defined in N.S.F. 4-4.28.4) shall be delivered by Buyer, at its sole expense, to the nearest Hatco-authorized service agency for replacement or repair. Hatco reserves the right to accept or reject any such claim in whole or in part. Hatco will not accept the return of any Product without prior written approval from Hatco, and all such approved returns shall be made at Buyer’s sole expense. HATCO WILL NOT BE LIABLE, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, FOR CONSEQUENTIAL OR INCIDENTAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LABOR COSTS OR LOST PROFITS RESULTING FROM THE USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PRODUCTS OR FROM THE PRODUCTS BEING INCORPORATED IN OR BECOMING A COMPONENT OF ANY OTHER PRODUCT OR GOODS.
