SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES
WARNING! Read all instructions before setup and use.
Please note: all the warnings listed below apply to BOTH the 96618 2-Step
Foot Switch and 96619 Foot Switch.
Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock and/or serious injury.
Do not use Foot Switch near water; switch mechanism is not insulated.
1.
Inspect before use; do not use if parts are loose or damaged.
2.
Do not use with any tool rated higher than 120 VAC, 15A.
3.
Use only with a grounded 120V outlet.
4.
Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles during use.
5.
Before leaving, turn off the main power switch of the tool used with Foot Switch.
6.
Use only on at, level surface able to support weight of Foot Switch and the
7. operator.
Keep away from children. Do not let children play with Foot Switch.
8.
When nished, always unplug from tool and store in a secure location.
9.
If mounting the Foot Switch to the oor, verify that mounting surface has no
10. hidden utility lines before drilling or driving screws.
Maintain proper balance during use to prevent foot from sliding off Switch.
11.
The warnings, precautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual
12. cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.

When unpacking, check to make sure that the item is intact and undamaged. If

SET UP INSTRUCTIONS
Read ALL of the SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES on the previous page, including all text under subheadings therein before set up or use of this product.
WARNINGWARNING
Make sure the tool used with the Foot Switch (router, scroll saw, wood carving
1. tool, for example) is in the OFF position, disconnected.
Place the Foot Switch in a location that it will be easy to reach during use.
2.
CAUTION! The Foot Switch is intended for temporary hands-free use only and not in place of a permanent ON/OFF power switch for the tool.
Mounting holes are available on either end of the Foot Switch base. This will
3. keep the Foot Switch in place and prevent any kind of accidental kicking or movement.
If mounting, make sure the installation surface is free of any hidden wires or
4. cables.
If needed, the Foot Switch can be placed on the work table and used by hand.

CAUTION! Hand-use should only be done if neither foot can reach or control the Foot Switch during use. Do not use your hand to control the foot switch if both hands are required to operate tool.
Risk of electric shock! Do not use near water or in damp conditions. The switch mechanism is not insulated.
Only use with grounded 120V outlet. Do not use with tool rated higher than 120VAC, 15A.
Please note: the following setup instructions apply to both the 96618 2-Step Foot Switch and the 96619 Foot Switch.
Once the Foot Switch is placed in the proper location in the work area (under the
6. work table or near your chair) that can be reached by your foot (or hand), plug the cord of Foot Switch into a grounded 120V outlet.
Plug the power cord into the 3-prong outlet located at the end of the Foot
7. Switch.
The Foot Switch is now ready to be used as the tool’s ON/OFF Switch.
WARNING for the 96618 Foot Switch! In case of a blown fuse or tripped breaker switch when foot switch is in use, please turn off the foot switch prior to replacing the fuse or resetting the breaker. Unplugging the tool from the foot switch is preferable. This will help insure that the tool does not power on unexpectedly after replacing the fuse.

The following operating instructions are for the 96618 Foot Switch ONLY:
Once the 2-Step Foot Switch is properly set-up, use your foot (or hand) to step
1. or press down on the pedal once. Remove your foot or hand.
The tool will now activate, allowing you to work with both hands.
2.
To turn off the tool, press down on the pedal again. This will turn off the tool.
3.
Please note: Avoid accidental starting/stopping. Do not step on the Foot Switch unless you intended to turn on/off the tool
To reactivate the tool, simply step or press down on the pedal again.
4.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
The following operating instructions are for the 96619 Foot Switch ONLY:
Once the Foot Switch is properly set-up, use your foot (or hand) to step or press
1. down on the pedal. YOU SHOULD KEEP YOUR FOOT OR HAND ON THE PEDAL DURING USE. Removal of foot or hand pressure will deactivate the switch and stop the unit connected to the Foot Switch.
The tool will now activate, allowing you to work with both hands.
2.
To turn off the tool, remove your foot or hand from the pedal. This will turn off
3. the tool.
Please note: Avoid accidental starting/stopping by maintaining the same amount of pressure on the Foot Switch.
To reactivate the tool, simply step or press on the pedal again. Do not remove
4. your foot or hand from the Foot Switch.
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICING
BEFORE EACH USE, inspect the general condition of the Foot Switch. Check
1. for loose parts, cracked and/or any other damage that may affect safe operation.
When nished using Foot Switch, unplug from grounded outlet and tool and
2. store in a safe location out of the reach of children.
