Assembly and Operation
Note: Before assembling or operating the Dust Hood Cover, read and follow all of the safety
warnings and instructions that came with the lathe. Note: This Dust Hood Cover is designed to be used with a vacuum or dust extraction system (both not included). The hose and hose clamp to connect the vacuum or dust extraction system to the Dust Hood Cover is not included with the Dust Hood Cover. The outside diameter of the Hose Flange is 3/8”. Note: This Dust Hood Cover is to be used with lathe beds having pre-drilled holes specifically designed for attaching Dust Hood Covers.
Warning! When assembling, adjusting, or cleaning the Dust Hood Cover, make sure the lathe is unplugged from its power source.
1. Attach the Shield (1) to the Hood (3) using the two Pins (2). See FIGURE 1.
2. Find an acceptable place to mount the Dust Hood Cover on the lathe bed. Position the
Bracket (4) on the top, back of the lathe, in a positon between the live centers. The shorter end of the “L” shaped Bracket (4) should fit snug against the back side (vertical side) of the lathe.
3. Center the holes on the bottom of the Hood (3) over the slots on the longer “L” section
of the Bracket (4). Put the Bolts (Screw set (5)) through the holes, the Bracket slots, and through the holes on the horizontal flat surface of the lathe bed. Secure them with the Washers and Wing Nuts (Screw set (5)).
4. Attach the vacuum hose (not included) to the
Hose Flange with a hose clamp (not included). When you are ready to operate the lathe, first turn on the vacuum or dust extraction system.
Note: The Shield (1) swings up and down. We recommend keeping the Shield (1) in the down position during operation to assist with dust collection airflow.
5. Follow the instructions and warnings
that came with your lathe to resume operation.
