You will need the manual for the safety warnings and precautions, assembly instructions,
operating and maintenance procedures, parts list and diagram. Keep your invoice with this
manual. Write the invoice number on the inside of the front cover. Keep the manual and
invoice in a safe and dry place for future reference.
Safety Warnings and Precautions
WARNING: When using tools and/or equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of personal injury and damage to equipment.
Read all instructions before using this tool!
1.Keep work area clean. Cluttered areas invite injuries.
2.Observe work area conditions. Do not use machines or power tools in damp or wet
locations. Don’t expose to rain. Keep work area well lighted. Do not use electrically
powered tools in the presence of flammable gases or liquids.
3.Keep children away. Children must never be allowed in the work area. Do not let
them handle machines, tools, or extension cords.
4.Store idle equipment. When not in use, tools must be stored in a dry location to inhibit
rust. Always lock up tools and keep out of reach of children.
5.Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not reach over or
across running machines.
6.Maintain tools with care. Inspect tool cords periodically and, if damaged, have them
repaired by an authorized technician.
7.Disconnect power. To maintain efficiency of the Solar Panels, it is recommended to
disconnect them from the Charge Controller at night.
8.Stay alert. Watch what you are doing, use common sense. Do not operate any tool
when you are tired.

9.Check for damaged parts. Before using any tool, any part that appears damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its
intended function. Check for any condition that may affect proper operation. Any part
that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by a qualified technician.
10.Replacement parts and accessories. When servicing, use only identical
replacement parts. Use of any other parts will void the warranty. Only use accessories
intended for use with this tool. Approved accessories are available from Harbor Freight
Tools.
11.Maintenance. For your safety, service and maintenance should be performed
regularly by a qualified technician.
Note: Performance of the Solar Panels may vary depending on site location, angle of Solar
Panels in relation to the arc of the Sun, and available sunlight.
Warning: The warnings, cautions, and instructions discussed in this instruction manual
cannot cover all possible conditions and situations that may occur. It must be understood by the operator that common sense and caution are factors which cannot be
built into this product, but must be supplied by the operator.
Unpacking
When unpacking, check to make sure the parts listed on page 5 are included. If any parts
are missing or broken, please call Harbor Freight Tools at the number on the cover of this
manual as soon as possible.
Assembly
1.Connect the Bottom Link Bar (3) to the Left Triangle Frame (1) and the Right Triangle
Frame (2) using the attached bolt and hook.

2.Connect the Upper Link Bar (4) to the Left Triangle Frame (1) and the Right Triangle
Frame (2) using the attached bolt and hook.

3.Tighten both frame bolts to stabilize the frame assembly.
4.Locate the frame assembly so that if faces the sun the greater part of the day.

5.Secure the frame assembly to its mounting location using hardware (not supplied)
through the four holes on the bottom of the Left and Right Triangle frame.
6.Carefully place each Solar Panel (5) on the front of the frame assembly so that the
bottom of each panel fits into the slot on the bottom of the frame assembly.
7.Lock the two eye hooks on the back-center frame into the two protruding bolts on the
Upper Link Bar (4).

8.Attach the Wire Panel Connectors (6) to each connector on the panels.
The short cable connector must be connected to the center panel connector.
9.Mount the Charge Controller near the Solar Panels.
This controller should be protected from the weather.
10.Connect the Solar Panels, Lamp, and 12 VDC (rechargeable) Battery (not included) as
shown above. (Also refer to the wiring diagram on page 6.)
Connections to the Charge Controller require you to press down on the red or black
tabs while inserting the stripped wire into the holes. You should not be able to pull the
wire out after releasing the tab.
The Lamp wires can be spliced to a longer cord of the same type if the Lamp is to be
used at a distance from the Charger Controller.
11.Mount the Lamp using screws (not supplied).

Operation
1.Press the Lamp Switch to the ON position.
In the daytime when light is shining on the Solar Panels the Lamp is powered from the
electricity produced by the Solar Panels (“Panel” indicator will light on the Charge
Controller).
The “Over Charge” indicator will light when the Solar Panel voltage goes over 15 volts.
The “Over Discharge” indicator will light when the Solar Panel voltage goes below 11
volts. At night, the Lamp is powered by the Battery.
2.When finished with the Lamp, press the Lamp Switch to the OFF position.
3.To maintain a high level of efficiency of the Solar Panels, it is recommended that you
disconnect the Solar Panel cable from the Charger Controller at night.
Maintenance
1.With the Solar Panel cable disconnected from the Charger Controller, periodically
clean the Solar Panels with mild soap and water.
NOTE: Some parts are listed and shown for illustration purposes only and are not available individually
