1. Packen Sie die Gefriertruhe aus und entfernen Sie alle Verpackungsteile, Kunststoffprofile, Klebestreifen und Schaum pols ter innen, außen und auf der Geräterückseite.

2. Prüfen Sie, ob die Lieferung vollständig ist.

3. Kontrollieren Sie, ob die Gefriertruhe Trans port schä den auf weist.

4. Sollte die Lieferung unvollständig sein oder die Gefriertruhe einen Transportschaden aufweisen, nehmen Sie bitte Kontakt mit unserem Service auf (siehe Seite DE-22)

Bestimmungsgemäßer Gebrauch

Die Gefriertruhe ist geeignet, um handelsübliche Tief kühl kost ein zu la gern, zum Tief ge frie ren zimmerwarmer Lebensmittel sowie zur Eisbereitung.

Das Gerät ist nur zur Verwendung im privaten Haushalt bestimmt. Eine gewerbliche Nutzung ist ausgeschlossen.

Verwenden Sie die Gefriertruhe nur wie in dieser Gebrauchsanleitung beschrieben. Jede andere Verwendung gilt als bestimmungswidrig und kann zu Sachschäden oder sogar zu Personenschäden führen. Der Hersteller übernimmt keine Haftung oder Garantie für Schäden, die durch den bestimmungswidrigen Gebrauch entstanden sind.

Risiken im Umgang mit elektrischen Haushaltsgeräten

WARNUNG

Stromschlaggefahr! Das Berühren von spannungsführenden Teilen kann zu schweren Verletzungen oder zum Tod führen.

■ Gerät nur in Innenräumen verwen-

den. Nicht in Feuchträumen oder im Regen betreiben.

■ Gerät nicht in Betrieb nehmen oder

weiter betreiben,

■ wenn es sichtbare Schäden auf-

weist, z.B. die Anschlussleitung defekt ist.

■ wenn es Rauch entwickelt oder ver-

brannt riecht.

■ ungewohnte Geräusche von sich

■ Die vollständige Trennung vom

Stromnetz erfolgt bei diesem Gerät nur durch Ziehen des Netzsteckers. Gerät daher nur an eine gut zugängliche Steckdose anschließen, damit es im Störfall schnell vom Stromnetz getrennt werden kann.

■ Falls der Netzstecker nach dem Auf-

stellen nicht mehr zugänglich ist, muss eine allpolige Trennvorrichtung gemäß Überspannungskategorie III in der Hausinstallation mit min-

destens 3 mm Kontaktabstand vorgeschaltet sein; hierzu zählen Sicherungen, LS-Schalter und Schütze.

■ Netzkabel nicht knicken oder klemmen

und nicht über scharfe Kanten legen. Die Folge kann ein Kabelbruch sein.

■ Bei der Aufstellung des Gerätes ist si-

cherzustellen, dass die Netzanschlussleitung nicht eingeklemmt oder beschädigt wird.

■ Ortsveränderliche Mehrfachsteck-

dosen oder Netzteile nicht an der Rückseite der Geräte platzieren.

■ Gerät, Netzstecker und Netzkabel von

offenem Feuer und heißen Flächen fernhalten.

■ Netzstecker nie am Netzkabel aus der

Steckdose ziehen, immer den Netzstecker selbst anfassen.

■ Netzstecker niemals mit feuchten

Händen anfassen.

■ Netzkabel und Netzstecker nie in

Wasser oder andere Flüssigkeiten tauchen.

■ Wenn das Netzkabel des Geräts be-

schädigt ist, muss es durch den Hersteller, dessen Kundendienst oder eine qualiﬁ zierte Fachkraft ausgetauscht werden.

■ Eingriffe und Reparaturen am Ge-

rät dürfen ausschließlich autorisierte Fachkräfte vornehmen, so wie unser Service (siehe Seite DE-22).

■ Eigenständige Reparaturen an dem

Gerät können Sach- und Personenschäden verursachen, und die Haftungs- und Garantieansprüche verfallen. Niemals versuchen, das defekte – oder vermeintlich defekte – Gerät selbst zu reparieren.

■ Bei Reparaturen dürfen ausschließlich

Teile verwendet werden, die den ursprünglichen Gerätedaten entsprechen. In diesem Gerät beﬁ nden sich elektrische und mechanische Teile, die zum Schutz gegen Gefahrenquellen unerlässlich sind.

■ Im Fehlerfall sowie vor Reinigung und

Wartung den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose ziehen bzw. die Sicherung herausschrauben/ausschalten.

■ Keine Gegenstände in oder durch die

Gehäuseöffnungen stecken und sicherstellen, dass auch Kinder keine Gegenstände hineinstecken können.

■ Gerät regelmäßig auf Schäden prüfen.

Erstickungsgefahr! Kinder können sich in der Verpackungsfolie verfangen und ersticken.

■ Kinder nicht mit der Verpackungs-

folie spielen lassen.

Kinder können sich im Gerät einschließen und ersticken.

■ Kinder dürfen nicht mit dem Gerät

spielen.

Risiken im Umgang mit chemischen Stoffen

Explosionsgefahr! Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit chemischen Stoffen kann zu Explosionen führen.

■ Keine explosiven Stoffe oder

Sprühdosen mit brennbaren Treibmitteln im Gerät lagern, da sie zündfähige Gas-Luft-Gemische zur Explosion bringen können.

VORSICHT

Risiken für bestimmte Personengruppen

Gefahren für Kinder und Personen mit eingeschränkten physischen, sensorischen oder geistigen Fähigkeiten!

■ Dieses Gerät kann von Kindern ab 8

Jahren und darüber sowie von Personen mit verringerten physischen, sensorischen oder mentalen Fähigkeiten oder Mangel an Erfahrung und Wissen benutzt werden, wenn sie beaufsichtigt oder bezüglich des sicheren Gebrauchs des Gerätes unterwiesen wurden und die daraus resultierenden Gefahren verstehen. Kinder ab 3 Jahren und jünger als 8 Jahre dürfen das Kühl-/Gefriergerät be- und entladen. Kinder dürfen nicht mit dem Gerät spielen. Reinigung und Benutzer-Wartung dürfen nicht von Kindern ohne Beaufsichtigung durchgeführt werden.

■ Sicherstellen, dass Kinder keinen Zu-

griff auf das Gerät haben, wenn sie unbeaufsichtigt sind.

Risiken im Umgang mit Gefriertruhen

Brandgefahr! Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu einem Brand und zu Sachschäden führen.

■ Gerät nur an eine ordnungsgemäß

installierte Schutzkontakt-Steckdose anschließen. Der Anschluss an

eine Steckdosenleiste oder eine Mehrfachsteckdose ist unzulässig.

■ Um ausreichende Luftzirkulation

zu gewährleisten, müssen die Lüftungsschlitze und der gesamte Raum oberhalb des Geräts frei bleiben.

■ Gerät nicht direkt an die Wand stellen.

Mindestens 15 cm Abstand lassen.

■ Darauf achten, dass Lüftungsschlitze

nicht verdeckt werden.

■ Herausspritzendes Käl te mit tel ist

brenn bar und kann zu Au gen schä den füh ren. In die sem Fall die Au gen un ter kla rem Was ser spülen und sofort ei nen Arzt rufen.

■ Damit im Fall einer Leckage des

Kältemittelkreislaufs kein zündfähiges Gas-Luft-Gemisch entstehen kann, muss der Aufstellraum laut NormEN 378 eine Mindestgröße von

1 m

je 8 g Kältemittel haben. Die Menge des Kältemittels in Ihrem Gerät ist auf dem Datenblatt angegeben (siehe Seite DE-24).

■ Keine wärmeabgebenden Geräte wie

Mikrowellen, Toaster etc. auf das Gerät stellen und keine elektrischen Geräte innerhalb des Geräts betreiben.

Verletzungsgefahr! Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu Verletzungen führen.

■ Das Gerät ist schwer und unhandlich.

Beim Transport, bei der Aufstellung, Ausrichtung die Hilfe einer weiteren Person in Anspruch nehmen.

■ Prüfen, ob Transportwege und Auf-

stellort frei von Hindernissen sind (z. B. geschlossene Türen oder auf dem Boden liegende Gegenstände).

■ Gefrierkörbe, Tü ren etc. nicht als Tritt-

brett oder zum Ab stüt zen ver wen den.

■ Netzkabel so verlegen, dass es nicht

zur Stolperfalle wird.

Gesundheitsgefahren bei Gefriergut!

Durch falsche Handhabung, unzureichende Kühlung oder Überlagerung können die eingelagerten Lebensmittel verderben. Bei Verzehr besteht die Gefahr einer Lebensmittelvergiftung!

■ Insbesondere rohes Fleisch und Fisch

ausreichend verpacken, damit danebenliegende Lebensmittel nicht durch Salmonellen o. Ä. kontaminiert werden.

■ Die von den Lebensmittelherstellern

empfohlenen Lagerzeiten einhalten.

■ Beachten, dass sich die Lagerzeit des

Gefrierguts aufgrund eines Temperaturanstiegs im Geräteinneren verkürzen kann (Abtauen, Reinigen oder Stromausfall).

■ Bei längerem Stromausfall oder ei-

ner Störung am Gerät das eingelagerte Gefriergut aus dem Gerät nehmen und in einem ausreichend kühlen Raum oder einem anderen Kühlgerät lagern (max. Lagerzeit bei Störung: siehe „Produktdatenblatt nach VO (EU) Nr. 1060/2010“ auf Seite DE-24).

■ Nach einer Störung überprüfen, ob

die eingelagerten Lebensmittel noch genießbar sind.

■ Auf- und angetaute Lebensmittel sofort

verbrauchen, nicht wieder einfrieren.

■ Zur Bereitung von Eiswürfeln nur Trink-

wasser verwenden.

Das Gerät arbeitet eventuell nicht einwandfrei, wenn es über längere Zeit zu geringer Umgebungstemperatur ausgesetzt wird. Es kann dann zu einem Temperatur anstieg im Inneren kommen.

■ Vorgesehene Umgebungs temperatur

ein halten (siehe Zeile "Klimaklasse" auf Seite DE-24).

Gesundheitsgefahr! Verunreinigte Lebensmittel können gesundheitliche Schäden verursachen.

■ Wenn die Tür für eine längere Zeit ge-

öffnet wird, kann es zu einem erheblichen Temperaturanstieg in den Fächern des Gerätes kommen.

■ Die Flächen, die mit Lebensmitteln

und zugänglichen Ablaufsystemen in Berührung kommen können, regelmäßig reinigen.

■ Zwei-Sterne-Gefrierfächer sind für die

Aufbewahrung von bereits eingefrorenen Lebensmitteln und die Aufbewahrung oder Zubereitung von Speiseeis oder Eiswürfeln geeignet.

■ Ein-, Zwei- und Drei-Sterne-Fächer

sind nicht für das Einfrieren von frischen Lebensmitteln geeignet.

■ Wenn das Kühl-/Gefriergerät längere

Zeit leer steht, das Gerät ausschalten, abtauen, reinigen und die Tür offen lassen, um Schimmelbildung zu vermeiden.

Verletzungsgefahr durch Gefriergut! Ein unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu Verletzungen führen. Verbrennungsgefahr durch Tieftemperaturen.

■ Die Lebensmittel und die Innenwän-

de des Gefrierraums haben eine sehr tiefe Temperatur. Nie mit nassen Händen berühren. Dies kann zu Haut ver let zun gen führen. Auch bei trockener Haut sind Hautschäden möglich.

■ Keine Eiswürfel oder Eis am Stiel direkt

aus dem Gefrierraum in den Mund nehmen.

HINWEIS

Beschädigungsgefahr! Wenn das Kühlgerät hochkant transportiert wurde, kann Schmiermittel aus dem Kompressor in den Kühlkreislauf gelangt sein.

■ Das Kühlgerät möglichst nur in der

Hori zon talen transportieren.

■ Vor Inbetriebnahme das Kühlgerät

2 Stunden stehen lassen. Währenddessen ﬂ ießt das Schmier mittel in den Kompressor zurück.

Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu Sachschäden führen.

■ Gerät nur auf einem ebenen und

festen Untergrund stellen. Der Untergrund muss das Gewicht eines gefüllten Innenraums tragen können.

■ Beim Auspacken keine spitzen

Gegenstände verwenden.

■ Innerhalb des Geräts nur elektrische

Teile betreiben, die der vom Hersteller empfohlenen Bauart entsprechen.

■ Keine anderen mechanischen

Einrichtungen oder sonstigen Mittel als die vom Hersteller empfohlenen benutzen.

■ Keine wärmeabgebenden Geräte wie

Mikrowellen oder Toaster auf die Gefriertruhe stellen. Darauf achten, dass die Lüftungsschlitze nicht verdeckt werden.

■ Innenbeleuchtung ausschließlich zur

Beleuchtung des Geräte-Inneren verwenden. Sie ist nicht zur Beleuchtung eines Raumes geeignet.

■ Keine Glas- oder Metallgefäße mit

Wasser, Limonade, Bier etc. einlagern. Wasser dehnt sich im gefrorenen Zustand aus und kann den Behälter sprengen.

■ Gerät rechtzeitig abtauen, bevor sich

eine Eis- und Reifschicht von mehr als 5 mm bildet. Bei zu starker Eisbildung steigt der Stromverbrauch und der Deckel schließt eventuell nicht mehr dicht ab.

■ Zum Beschleunigen des

Abtauvorgangs keine anderen Mittel verwenden als die vom Hersteller empfohlenen. Z. B. keine elek tri schen Heiz ge rä te, Messer oder Geräte mit of fe ner Flamme wie z. B. Kerzen ver wen den. Die Wär medämmung und der In nen be häl ter sind kratzund hit ze emp ﬁ nd lich und können schmelzen.

■ Beim Reinigen beachten: – Auf keinen Fall aggressive, körnige,

soda-, säure-, lösemittelhaltige oder schmirgelnde Reinigungsmittel verwenden. Diese greifen die Kunststoffflächen an. Empfehlenswert sind Allzweckreiniger mit einem neutralen pH-Wert.

– Deckeldichtungen und Geräteteile

aus Kunststoff sind empfindlich gegen Öl und Fett. Verunreinigungen möglichst schnell entfernen.

– Nur weiche Tü cher verwenden.

■ Darauf achten, dass kein Wasser in

die Lüftungsschlitze, in die elektrischen Teile oder in die Ablauföffnung dringt.

■ Nach dem Ausschalten 5 Minuten

warten. Erst danach das Gerät erneut einschalten.

■ Nur Original-Zubehörteile verwenden.

Temperaturanstieg im Inneren kommen.

■ Halten Sie die vorgesehene Um ge-

bungs temperatur ein (siehe „Klimaklasse“ auf Seite DE-24).

Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu Beschädigungen führen.

■ Das Gerät möglichst nicht in die Ho-

rizontale kippen, sondern nur in einer Schräglage von maximal 45° transportieren.

■ Beim Auspacken und Entfernen der

Schutzfolien keine spitzen Gegenstände verwenden.

Transportieren und Auspacken

• Kleben Sie für einen sicheren Stand während des Transports die Rollen unterhalb der Gefriertruhe mit Klebeband ab.

• Transportieren Sie die Gefriertruhe mit Hilfe einer Transportkarre oder einer zweiten Person.

• Entfernen Sie die Klebestreifen von den Rollen. Heben Sie die Gefriertruhe linksseitig leicht an, und schieben oder ziehen Sie sie, bis sie die gewünschte Position einnimmt.

• Packen Sie die Gefriertruhe aus und entfernen Sie vorsichtig alle Verpackungsteile, Kunststoffprofile, Klebestreifen und Schaumpolster innen, außen und auf der Rückseite der Gefriertruhe.

HINWEIS

Aus Sicherheitsgründen muss der Aufstellraum eine Mindestgröße besitzen.

Luftzirkulation

Um eine ausreichende Luftzirkulation zu gewährleisten,

Kühlleistung

Um die größtmögliche Kühlleistung bei geringstem Energieverbrauch zu erzielen, wählen Sie einen Standort, der:

Gefriertruhe aufstellen und ausrichten

1. Stellen Sie die Gefriertruhe auf einen möglichst ebenen, fe sten Un ter grund.

2. Über prü fen Sie den Stand mit einer Was ser waa ge.

3. Gleichen Sie Unebenheiten des Un ter grunds über die bei den vorderen Schraub fü ße aus. Dazu

– schließen Sie den Deckel. – kippen Sie die Gefriertruhe leicht nach

rechts.

– drehen Sie die Schraub fü ße hinein bzw.

heraus, bis die Gefriertruhe senk recht aus ge rich tet ist und stellen Sie die Gefriertruhe wieder gerade hin.

4. Prüfen Sie die Ausrichtung mit einer Wasserwaage. Beim Öffnen des Deckels darf sich die Gefriertruhe nicht be we gen.

Ungünstig ist ein Platz neben einem Ofen, Herd oder Heiz kör per. Die Mindestabstände betragen:

– zu Elektroherden: 15 cm, – zu Öl- und Kohleherden: 30 cm, – zu Kühlgeräten: 15 cm, – zu Wasch-/Geschirrspülmaschinen: 15 cm.

Ist im Auf stel lungs raum eine Fußbodenheizung installiert, legen Sie eine Isolierplatte aus festem Material un ter die Gefriertruhe.

Gefriertruhe anschließen

Bedienung

Voraussetzungen

Sie können die Gefriertruhe nutzen, wenn

– Sie das Kapitel „Sicherheit“ gelesen und

die Sicherheitshinweise verstanden haben (siehe Seite DE-4).

– sie aufgestellt und angeschlossen ist, wie

im Kapitel „Inbetriebnahme“ beschrieben (siehe Seite DE-10).

Betriebsanzeigen

Power (7) leuchtet, sobald die Gefriertruhe mit Energie versorgt wird.

Run (8) leuchtet, wenn der Kompressor arbeitet.

Alarm (9) leuchtet, wenn die Temperatur in der Gefriertruhe über den eingestellten Wert steigt und tritt während des Normalbetriebs auf,

– unmittelbar nach der ersten Inbetriebnah-

me, nach dem Abtauen und Reinigen. – nach einem längeren Stromausfall. – wenn Sie eine große Menge frischer Le-

bensmittel eingelagert haben.

Sobald die eingestellte Temperatur erreicht ist, erlischt die Anzeige Alarm automatisch.

Trifft keiner der genannten Fälle zu, sehen Sie im Abschnitt „Fehlersuchtabelle“ auf Seite 19 nach, um die Störung zu beheben.

Ein- und ausschalten

Einschalten

1. Drehen Sie den Temperaturregler auf die gewünschte Kühlleistung. Der Kompressor beginnt nach kurzer Zeit zu arbeiten, das Kältemittel strömt durch die Rohre und Sie hören ein leises Rauschen. Die Anzeigen Power (7), Run (8) und Alarm (9) leuchten. Sobald die Gefriertruhe die eingestellte Temperatur erreicht hat, schaltet sich der Kompressor ab. Die Anzeigen Run und Alarm erlöschen.

2. Macht die Gefriertruhe störende Geräusche, überprüfen Sie den festen Stand und entfernen Sie Gegenstände auf der Gefriertruhe.

Ausschalten / Außerbetriebnahme

Wenn Sie die leere Gefriertruhe nicht benutzen wollen, schalten Sie sie folgendermaßen aus:

1. Um die Gefriertruhe auszuschalten, drehen Sie den Temperaturregler (4) auf "OFF" und ziehen Sie den Netzstecker.

2. Nehmen Sie die Gefrierkörbe aus der Gefriertruhe.

3. Reinigen Sie die Gefriertruhe (siehe „Reinigung und Wartung“ auf Seite DE-17).

4. Lassen Sie den Deckel leicht geöffnet, damit sich im Innenraum kein Schimmel bildet. Damit haben Sie die Gefriertruhe ausgeschaltet und außer Betrieb genommen.

Wieder einschalten

Wenn der laufende Betrieb unterbrochen wurde, kann die Gefriertruhe nicht sofort wieder gestartet werden. Zur Unterbrechung kommt es,

– wenn Sie den Temperaturregler (4) auf

„OFF“ stellen.

– wenn Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steck-

dose ziehen.

– bei Stromausfall.

• Warten Sie 4 bis 5 Minuten, bevor Sie die Gefriertruhe erneut in Betrieb nehmen.

Sollte sich der Deckel Ihrer Gefriertruhe

nach dem Schließen nicht sofort wieder öffnen lassen, hat sich ein Unterdruck im Inneren gebildet. Warten Sie 1 bis 2 Minuten, danach lässt sich der Deckel problemlos öffnen.

Temperatur regeln

VORSICHT

– Um die Kühlleistung zu verringern, dre-

hen Sie den Temperaturregler in Richtung „1“.

– Um die Temperatur niedriger einzustel-

len, drehen Sie den Temperaturregler in Richtung „6“.

2. Passen Sie die Temperatur in der Gefriertruhe an die Umgebungstemperatur (z. B. im Sommer in Richtung „6“) und der Menge der eingelagerten Lebensmittel an.

Um die Kühlleistung kontrollieren zu

können, benötigen Sie idealerweise ein Gefrier-Thermometer. Platzieren Sie es in einem der Gefrierkörbe (2). Die ideale Temperatur beträgt -18 °C. Wenn Sie den Temperaturregler (4) auf „OFF“ stellen, ist die Gefriertruhe nicht ausgeschaltet.

Der Kompressor arbeitet zwar nicht, aber

das Gerät wird mit Energie versorgt.

Gesundheitsgefahr! Durch falsche Handhabung, unzureichende Kühlung oder Überlagerung können die eingelagerten Lebensmittel verderben. Bei Verzehr besteht die Gefahr einer Lebensmittelvergiftung!

■ Besonders rohes Fleisch und Fisch aus-

reichend verpacken, damit danebenliegende Lebensmittel nicht durch Salmonellen o. Ä. kontaminiert werden.

■ Die von den Lebensmittelherstellern

empfohlenen Lagerzeiten einhalten.

■ Beachten, dass sich die Lagerzeit des

Gefrierguts aufgrund eines Temperaturanstiegs im Geräteinneren verkürzen kann (Abtauen, Reinigen oder Stromausfall).

■ Bei längerem Stromausfall oder ei-

ner Störung am Gerät das eingelagerte Gefriergut aus dem Gerät nehmen und in einem ausreichend kühlen Raum oder einem anderen Kühlgerät lagern (max. Lagerzeit bei Störung: siehe Seite DE-24).

■ Nach einer Störung überprüfen, ob die

eingelagerten Lebensmittel noch genießbar sind. Auf- oder angetaute Lebensmittel nicht wieder einfrieren, sondern sofort verbrauchen.

Verletzungsgefahr! Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu Verletzungen führen. Verbrennungsgefahr durch Tieftemperaturen.

■ Die Lebensmittel und die Innenwän-

de des Ge frierbereichs haben eine sehr tiefe Temperatur. Nie mit nassen Händen berühren. Dies kann zu Haut ver let zun gen führen. Auch bei trockener Haut sind Hautschäden möglich.

■ Eiswürfel oder Eis am Stiel vor dem

Verzehr etwas antauen lassen, nicht direkt aus dem Gefrierbereich in den Mund nehmen.

Gesundheitsgefahr! Verunreinigte Lebensmittel können gesundheitliche Schäden verursachen.

■ Wenn die Tür für eine längere Zeit ge-

öffnet wird, kann es zu einem erheblichen Temperaturanstieg in den Fächern des Gerätes kommen.

■ Die Flächen, die mit Lebensmitteln

und zugänglichen Ablaufsystemen in Berührung kommen können, regelmäßig reinigen.

■ Zwei-Sterne-Gefrierfächer sind für die

Aufbewahrung von bereits eingefrorenen Lebensmitteln und die Aufbewahrung oder Zubereitung von Speiseeis oder Eiswürfeln geeignet.

■ Ein-, Zwei- und Drei-Sterne-Fächer

sind nicht für das Einfrieren von frischen Lebensmitteln geeignet.

■ Wenn das Kühl-/Gefriergerät längere

Zeit leer steht, das Gerät ausschalten, abtauen, reinigen und die Tür offen lassen, um Schimmelbildung zu vermeiden.

Gefrierkörbe

Die Gefrierkörbe (2) erleichtern das Sortieren. Sie werden mit dem Griff am Truhenrahmen eingehängt. Für die Entnahme von Gefriergut, das unter den Gefrierkörben lagert, schieben Sie sie beiseite. Verwenden Sie die Gefrierkörbe für kleinteiliges Gefriergut wie z. B. Tiefkühlkräuter oder

Speiseeis.

Lebensmittel einfrieren

Einfrieren heißt, frische, zimmerwarme Lebensmittel möglichst schnell – am besten „schockartig“ – bis in den Kern durchzufrieren. Bei zu langsamem Kühlen „erfrieren“ die Lebensmittel, d. h. die Struktur wird zerstört. Die Erhaltung von Konsistenz, Geschmack und Nährwert erfordert eine gleichmäßige Lagertemperatur von −18 °C.

Lebensmittel vorbereiten

• Frieren Sie nur qualitativ einwandfreie Lebensmittel ein.

• Frieren Sie frische und zubereitete Speisen un ge sal zen und ungewürzt ein. Ungesalzen ein ge fro re ne Lebensmittel haben eine längere Halt bar keit.

• Lassen Sie zubereitete Lebensmittel abkühlen, bevor Sie sie einfrieren. Das spart nicht nur Energie, sondern ver mei det auch übermäßige Reifbildung im Gefrierbereich.

• Kohlensäurehaltige Getränke eignen sich nicht zum Einfrieren, da die Kohlensäure beim Einfrieren entweicht.

Die geeignete Verpackung

Wichtig beim Tiefgefrieren ist die Verpackung. Sie soll vor Oxidation, vor dem Eindringen von Mikroben, vor der Übertragung von Geruchsund Geschmacksstoffen und Austrocknen (Ge frier brand) schützen.

• Verwenden Sie nur Verpackungsmaterial, das widerstandsfähig, luft- und flüssigkeits undurchlässig, nicht zu steif und zu beschriften ist. Es sollte als Gefrierverpackung ausgewiesen sein.

• Verwenden Sie zum Verschließen Plastik-Clips, Gummiringe oder Klebebänder.

• Kennzeichnen Sie das Gefriergut nach Art, Menge, Einfrier- und Verfalldatum. Benutzen Sie möglichst wischfeste Filzschreiber oder Klebeetiketten.

Das Portionieren

• Verwenden Sie möglichst flache Portionen; diese frieren schneller bis in den Kern durch.

• Streichen Sie die Luft aus dem Gefrierbeutel heraus, denn sie begünstigt das Austrocknen und nimmt Platz weg.

• Füllen Sie Flüssigkeitsbehälter max. zu ¾, denn beim Frieren dehnt sich Flüssigkeit aus.

• Lagern Sie keine Glas- oder Metallgefäße mit Flüssigkeit wie Wasser, Limonade, Bier etc. Wasser dehnt sich im gefrorenen Zustand aus und kann den Behälter sprengen. Frieren Sie nur hochprozentigen Alkohol (ab vol. 40%) ein; achten Sie darauf, dass er fest verschlossen ist.

So bestücken Sie richtig

Maximales Gefriervermögen

Halten Sie das maximale Gefriervermögen ein. Sie finden die Angabe „Gefriervermögen in kg/24h“ im Datenblatt auf Seite DE-24.

Kleinere Mengen einfrieren

• bis 2 kg: Sobald die Temperatur im Gefrierbereich bei −18 °C liegt, können Sie frische, zimmerwarme Lebensmittel einfrieren.

• über 2 kg: Die frische Ware darf keinen Kontakt mit dem bereits eingelagerten Gefriergut bekommen, da dieses sonst antauen kann. Lässt sich der Kontakt mit dem eingelagerten Gefriergut nicht vermeiden, empfehlen wir, vor dem Einfrieren der frischen Ware eine Kältereserve im Gefrierbereich zu schaffen.

Nach dem Einlagern der frischen Ware steigt die Temperatur im Gefrierraum kurzfristig an. Nach weiteren 24 Stunden ist die Ware bis in den Kern gefroren.

Tiefkühlkost lagern

Auf dem Weg vom Hersteller in Ihr Gefriergerät darf die Tiefkühlkette nicht unterbrochen werden. Die Temperatur des Gefrierguts muss stets mindestens −18°C betragen.

Kaufen Sie deshalb keine Ware, die

– in bereiften, stark vereisten Truhen liegt. – oberhalb der vorgeschriebenen Mar kie-

rungs marke gestapelt ist.

– teilweise verklumpt ist (vor allem bei Beeren

und Gemüse leicht festzustellen).

– Schnee und Saftspuren aufweist. Transportieren Sie Tiefkühlkost in Spezialboxen aus Styropor oder in Isoliertaschen.

Beachten Sie die Lagerbedingungen und -zeiten auf der Verpackung.

Eiswürfel bereiten

VORSICHT

Gesundheitsgefahr! Durch falsche Handhabung besteht die Gefahr einer Lebensmittelvergiftung.

■ Zur Bereitung von Eiswürfeln nur

frisches Trinkwasser verwenden.

• Füllen Sie einen Eiswürfelbehälter zu ¾ mit frischem Trinkwasser und legen Sie ihn waagerecht in den Gefrierraum.

Die Eiswürfel lösen sich am besten,

indem Sie den Eiswürfelbehälter leicht biegen oder kurze Zeit unter fließendes Wasser halten.

Lebensmittel auftauen

Beachten Sie folgende Grundregeln, wenn Sie Lebensmittel auftauen:

– Um Lebensmittel aufzutauen, nehmen Sie

sie aus dem Gefrierraum und lassen Sie sie am besten bei Raumtemperatur oder im Kühlschrank auftauen.

– Tauen Sie Fleisch, Geflügel und Fisch im-

mer im Kühlschrank auf. Ach ten Sie darauf, dass das Gefriergut nicht in der ei ge nen Auf tau flüs sig keit liegt.

– Um Lebensmittel schnell aufzutauen, nutzen

Sie z. B. die Auftaufunktion Ihrer Mikrowelle. Beachten Sie dabei die Herstellerangaben und beachten Sie, dass sich so vermehrt Bakterien und Keime bilden können.

– Wenn Sie nur einen Teil einer Packung

auftauen möchten, entnehmen Sie diesen und schließen Sie die Packung sofort wieder. Dadurch beugen Sie „Gefrierbrand“ vor und vermindern die Eisbildung am verbleibenden Lebensmittel.

Bereiten Sie aufgetaute Lebensmittel

so schnell wie möglich zu. Entsorgen Sie die Auftauflüssigkeit.

Stromschlaggefahr!

■ Darauf achten, dass kein Reinigungs-

wasser in die Lüftungsschlitze, in die elektrischen Teile und in den Tauwasserabﬂ uss dringt.

Deckeldichtungen kontrollieren und reinigen

HINWEIS

Die Türdichtungen werden durch ungeeignete Behandlung beschädigt.

■ Die Türdichtungen sind empﬁ ndlich

gegen Öl und Fett – das Gummi wird dadurch porös und spröde. Nur mit klarem Wasser reinigen.

■ Nur weiche Tücher verwenden.

Die Deckeldichtungen müssen regelmäßig kontrolliert werden, damit keine war me Luft in die Gefriertruhe eindringt.

Außenwände reinigen

HINWEIS

Die Oberﬂ ächen werden durch ungeeignete Behandlung beschädigt.

■ Niemals scharfe, soda-, säure-, löse-

mittelhaltige oder schmirgelnde Reinigungsmittel verwenden. Diese greifen die Kunststoffﬂ ächen an. Empfehlenswert sind Allzweckreiniger mit einem neutralen pH-Wert.

■ Pﬂ egemittel nur für die Außenﬂ ächen

verwenden.

■ Das Gerät niemals mit einem Was-

serstrahl (z.B. Hochdruckreiniger) abspritzen.

■ Nur weiche Tücher verwenden.

• Verwenden Sie nur eine leichte pH-neutrale Seifenlauge.

• Wischen Sie trocken nach.

• Entfernen Sie regelmäßig Staubablagerungen von den Lüftungsgittern an der Rückseite und an der rechten Seite der Gefriertruhe, um den Energieverbrauch möglichst gering zu halten.

■ Sorgen Sie dafür, dass das Gefriergut

während der Abtauzeit ausreichend kühl zwischengelagert wird.

Verletzungsgefahr! Unsachgemäßer Umgang mit dem Gerät kann zu Hautschäden und Verletzungen führen.

■ Fassen Sie niemals mit nassen Hän-

den an die Innenwände oder die gefrorenen Lebensmittel. Auch bei trockenen Händen sind Verletzungen möglich.

■ Verwenden Sie zum Herausnehmen

der Tiefkühlkost ein trockenes Handtuch.

HINWEIS

Beim Reinigen beachten:

■ Auf keinen Fall Seife, schar fe, körnige,

soda- oder lösemittelhaltige oder schmirgelnden Putz mit tel verwenden. Empfehlenswert sind Allzweckreiniger mit einem neutralen pH-Wert.

■ Die Oberﬂ ächen werden durch unge-

eignete Reinigungsmittel beschädigt. Pﬂ egemittel nur für die Außen ﬂ ä chen ver wen den.

■ Nur weiche Tü cher verwenden.

■ Tauen Sie das Gerät ab, bevor sich

eine Eis- und Reifschicht von mehr als 5mm bildet. Bei zu starker Eisbildung im Inneren des Geräts kann die Tür brechen.

■ Zum Beschleunigen des Abtauvor-

gangs keine anderen mechanischen Einrichtungen oder sonstigen Mittel als die vom Hersteller empfohlenen benutzen.

HINWEIS

Tauen Sie die Gefriertruhe im Winter ab, wenn die Außentemperaturen niedrig sind. Dann können Sie die Lebensmittel auf dem Balkon o. Ä. lagern, solange Sie die Gefriertruhe reinigen. Andernfalls können Sie das Gefriergut dick in Zeitungspapier wickeln und in eine andere Gefriertruhe in einem kühlen Raum lagern. Optional können Sie auch eine Isoliertasche benutzen.

6. Um das Abtauen zu beschleunigen, stellen Sie eine Schüssel mit heißem, nicht kochendem Wasser in die Gefriertruhe.

7. Stellen Sie eine Schüssel unter den Tauwasserabfluss (11), um austretendes Tauwasser aufzufangen.

8. Schrauben Sie die Verschlusskappe vom Tauwasserabfluss gegen den Uhrzeigersinn ab.

9. Lassen Sie den Deckel während des Ab tauens ge öff net. Die Ab tau zeit hängt von der Di cke der Eis schicht ab. Er fah rungs ge mäß können Sie nach ca. einer Stunde mit dem Rei ni gen der Gefriertruhe beginnen.

10. Schaben Sie vorsichtig mit dem Plastikschaber (3) festsitzende Eisschichten ab.

11. Wischen Sie den In nen raum mit war mem Spülwasser aus.

12. Reinigen Sie die Türdichtung (siehe Abschnitt „Deckeldichtungen kontrollieren und reinigen“ auf Seite DE-17).

13. Reiben Sie nach dem Reinigen alles, einschließlich der Tür dich tung, gründlich trocken. Lüften Sie alles für kurze Zeit.

14. Schrauben Sie den Verschluss in den Tauwasserabfluss am Boden der Gefriertruhe wieder ein.

15. Verschließen Sie den Tauwasserabfluss mit der Verschlusskappe.

16. Stecken Sie den Netzstecker wieder in die Steckdose und drehen Sie den Temperaturregler auf die Stufe „6".

17. Sobald eine Temperatur von -18 °C erreicht ist, können Sie Ihr Gefriergut wieder einlegen. Stellen Sie den Temperaturregler auf die gewünschte Kühlleistung.

This chest freezer is suitable for storing commercially deep-frozen food, for freezing fresh foods and for making ice.

The appliance is intended solely for use in private households. It is not designed for commercial use.

In this chapter you will ﬁ nd general safety instructions which you must always observe for your own protection and that of third parties. Please also observe the warning notices in the individual chapters.

Risks in handling household electrical appliances

WARNING

Risk of electric shock! Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.

■ Only use the appliance indoors. Do

not use in wet rooms or in the rain.

■ Do not operate or continue to oper-

ate the appliance,

■ if it has visible damage, e.g. the

power cord is defective.

■ if it starts smoking or there is a

smell of burning.

■ if it makes unfamiliar noises.

In such cases, remove the mains plug from the socket or unscrew/isolate the fuse and contact our service department (see page GB-21).

■ Do not connect to an external timer

or a separate remote-controlled system for distance monitoring and control.

■ The appliance must only be com-

pletely disconnected from the power supply by pulling out the mains plug. The appliance must therefore be connected to an easily accessible socket so that it can be quickly disconnected from the power supply in the event of breakdown.

■ If the mains plug is no longer acces-

sible after installation, an all-pole disconnecting device complying with overvoltage category III must be connected into the house wiring with a contact gap of at least 3 mm; this includes fuses, circuit breakers and contactors.

■ Do not kink or pinch the mains cord

or lay it over sharp edges. This can result in a break in the cable.

■ When positioning the appliance, en-

sure the supply cord is not trapped or damaged.

■ Do not locate multiple portable

socket- outlets or portable power supplies at the rear of the appliance.

■ Keep the appliance, the mains plug

and the mains cord away from open ﬂ ames and hot surfaces.

■ Never pull the mains plug out of the

socket by the mains cord, always hold the mains plug itself.

■ Never touch the mains plug with wet

hands.

■ Never immerse the mains cord or

mains plug in water or any other liquids.

■ If the mains cord of the appliance is

damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, through customer service or by a qualiﬁ ed specialist.

■ Investigations and repairs to the ap-

pliance may only be carried out by authorised specialists, such as our service department (see page GB-21).

■ Unauthorised repairs to the appli-

ance can cause property damage and personal injury, and invalidate liability and warranty claims. Never try to repair a defective or suspected defective appliance yourself.

■ Only parts corresponding to the orig-

inal appliance speciﬁ cations may be used for repairs. This appliance contains electrical and mechanical parts

which are essential for protection against potential sources of danger.

■ In the event of a fault, as well as be-

fore cleaning and maintenance, unplug the mains plug from the socket or unscrew/isolate the fuse.

■ Do not put any objects in or through

the housing openings and also make sure that children cannot insert any objects through them.

■ Check the appliance regularly for

Risks for certain groups of people

Dangers for children and people with limited physical, sensory or mental capacity!

■ This appliance can be used by child-

ren aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children aged from 3 to 8 years are allowed to load and unload refrigerating appliances. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.

■ Make sure children do not have unsu-

pervised access to the appliance.

Risks when dealing with chest freezers

Fire hazard! Improper handling of the appliance can lead to ﬁ re and property damage.

■ Only connect the appliance to a

properly installed and earthed electric socket. Do not connect to a multi-socket extension cable or a multi-socket plug.

■ To ensure adequate air circulation,

the ventilation slots and the entire space above the unit must remain clear of obstructions.

■ Do not place the appliance directly

against the wall. Leave a gap of at least 15 cm.

■ Make sure that the ventilation slots

are not covered. Dangers from the refrigerant! Your appliance’s refrigeration circuit contains the environmentally-friendly, but ﬂ ammable refrigerant R600a (isobutane).

■ Mechanical intervention in the refrig-

eration system must only be carried

out by authorised specialists.

■ Do not damage the refrigeration cir-

cuit, for example by piercing the re-

frigerant channels of the condensate

vaporiser with sharp objects, cutting

off the tubing, etc.

■ Refrigerant is ﬂ ammable when spurt-

ing out and can damage the eyes. In

this case, rinse your eyes in clean wa-

ter and seek medical assistance im-

mediately.

■ To prevent the formation of a ﬂ am-

mable gas-air mixture in the event of

a leakage in the refrigeration circuit,

the installation space must have a

minimum size of 1 m³ per 8 g of re-

frigerant in compliance with the EN

378 standard. The amount of refrig-

erant in your appliance is indicated

on the data sheet (see page GB-23).

■ Do not place heat-emitting applianc-

es such as microwaves, toasters etc.

on the appliance and do not operate

any electrical appliances inside the

appliance.

Transport and unpacking

• Unpack the chest freezer and carefully remove all packaging, plastic moulding, adhesive strips and foam padding from the inside, outside and back of the chest freezer.

Choose a suitable location

Safety

Cooling capacity

To achieve the highest possible cooling performance with the least energy consumption, choose a location that:

– is not too warm, is dry and well ventilated, – is not in direct sunlight.

Set up the chest freezer and align

1. Place the chest freezer on as flat and as firm a base as possible.

2. Check the position with a spirit level.

3. Level out any unevenness on the ground using both of the front levelling screws. To do this

– close the lid. – tilt the chest freezer slightly to the right. – twist the levelling screws in or out until

the chest freezer is vertically level and set the chest freezer straight back down again.

4. Check the alignment with a spirit level. When opening the lid, the chest freezer should not shift.

Connecting the chest freezer

It is recommended not to place it next to an oven, stove or radiator. Abide by minimum distances:

– to electric stoves: 15 cm, – to oil and coal burning stoves: 30 cm, – to refrigerators: 15 cm, – to washing machines/dishwashers: 15 cm.

If underfloor heating is installed in the room where the chest freezer is to be installed, place an insulating plate of solid material under the chest freezer.

NOTICE

Risk of damage! The coolant must be allowed to settle before connecting.

■ After transport leave the appliance to

stand for 2 hours.

• Connect the mains plug to a properly installed socket (220-240V ~ / 50Hz / 10A). The power (7) indicator lights up.

Requirements

You can use the chest freezer once

– you have read the “Safety” chapter and un-

derstood the safety instructions (see page GB-4).

– it has been set up and connected as de-

scribed in the “Start-up” chapter (see page GB-9).

Operating displays

Power (7) illuminates as soon as power is supplied to the chest freezer.

Run (8) illuminates when the compressor is working.

Alarm (9) illuminates when the chest freezer temperature rises above the set level and during normal operation will occur

– immediately after start-up, after defrosting

and cleaning. – after a prolonged power failure. – if you have stored a large amount of fresh

food.

As soon as the set temperature is reached, the Alarm indicator turns off automatically.

If none of this happens, refer to “Troubleshooting table” on page 19 to correct the problem.

Switching on and off

Switching on

1. Turn the thermostat control to the desired cooling capacity. The compressor starts to work after a short time, the refrigerant flows through the pipes and a quiet humming can be heard. The Power (7), Run (8) and Alarm (9) indicators are illuminated. Once the chest freezer has reached the set temperature, the compressor turns off. The Run and Alarm indicators switch off.

2. If the chest freezer makes worrying noises check the solid base and remove any objects that are on top of the chest freezer.

Switch off / shutdown

If you do not want to use the empty freezer, switch it off in the following way:

1. To switch off the freezer, turn the thermostat control (4) to “OFF” and pull out the mains plug.

2. Remove the freezer baskets from the chest freezer.

3. Clean the chest freezer (see „Cleaning and maintenance“ on page GB-16).

4. Leave the lid slightly open, so mould does not form on the inside. You have now switched off the chest freezer and it is no longer in use.

If you only set the thermostat control (4) to “OFF”, the compressor stops

working, meaning that the appliance does not cool. However, the power will continue to ﬂ ow.

Switching on again

If the running operation has been interrupted, the freezer can not be restarted immediately. It is interrupted,

– if you set the thermostat control (4) to “OFF”. – if you unplug the mains plug from the socket. – in the event of a power failure.

• Wait 4 to 5 minutes before restarting the chest freezer.

If the lid of your freezer does not open

again after closing, it has formed a vacuum inside. Wait for 1 to 2 minutes, and then the lid can be easily opened again.

Thermostat control

CAUTION

Health hazard! The appliance may not operate properly if exposed to low ambient temperatures for extended periods of time. This can then lead to an increase in temperature inside the appliance.

■ Abide by the speciﬁ ed ambient tem-

OFF

1. Set the thermostat control (4) to the average cooling capacity “4”. This setting is sufficient for normal ambient temperatures if you do not open the lid of the freezer for long and always close it properly.

– Turn the thermostat towards “1” to re-

duce the cooling capacity.

– To set a lower temperature turn the ther-

mostat towards “6”.

2. Adjust the temperature in the freezer according to the ambient temperature (e.g. in summer towards “6”) and the amount of stored food.

You ideally need a freezer thermom-

eter to be able to control the cooling efﬁ ciency. Put it in one of the freezer bas- kets (2). The ideal temperature is -18° C. If you set the thermostat control (4) to “OFF”, the chest freezer is not switched off. The compressor will not work then, but the appliance’s power will still be ﬂ owing.

You can adjust the temperature in the chest freezer with the thermostat control (4). Select a cooling capacity between “1” and “6”, with the setting “6” being the coldest temperature.

The freezer is designed for a specific ambient temperature (see “Climate category on page GB-23). The power consumption and the temperature in the chest freezer can increase if

– the ambient temperature is exceeded or

goes too low,

– the lid of the chest freezer is opened often

or for too long.

Freezer baskets

The freezer baskets (2) make sorting easier. They are hung on the chest frame by the handle. To remove frozen food that is stored underneath the freezer baskets, slide them aside. Use the freezer baskets for small portions of frozen food such as frozen herbs or ice cream.

Freezing food

Freezing means reducing the core temperature of fresh, room-temperature food to frozen as quickly as possible – for best results “flash-frozen”. If not cooled quickly enough, the food will be “killed by frost”, i.e. the structure will be destroyed. A constant storage temperature of -18° C is needed to maintain the food’s consistency, taste and nutritional value.

Suitable packaging

Packaging is important when deep-freezing. This will protect against oxidation, penetration by microbes, transfer of odours and flavourings and drying out (freezer burn).

• Only use packaging material that is

strong, impermeable to air and liquid, not too stiff and labelled. It should be designated as suitable for freezer use.

• Use plastic clips, rubber bands or adhe-

sive tapes to seal.

• Label the frozen food by type, quantity,

amount and expiry date. Use waterproof marker pens or adhesive labels wherever possible.

Portions

• Use flat portions as much as possible;

these freeze through to the core faster.

• Expel the air from the freezer bag as this

causes the contents to dry out and takes up space.

• Fill liquid containers no more ¾ full, be-

cause liquids expand when frozen.

• Do not store glass or metal containers

containing liquids such as water, lemonade, beer, etc. Water expands when frozen and may burst the container. Only high percentage alcohol (from 40% volume) should be frozen; make sure that it is tightly sealed.

Preparing the food

• Only freeze high quality food.

• Freeze fresh and prepared food dry and unseasoned. Unsalted foods are more durable.

• Allow prepared food to cool before freezing. This not only saves power, but also prevents excessive frost formation in the freezer area.

• Carbonated drinks are not suitable for freezing because the carbon dioxide escapes during freezing.

How to pack the freezer properly

Adhere to the maximum freezing capacity. You will find information about “Freezing capacity in kg/24 hours” in the data sheet on page GB-23.

Freeze smaller quantities

• Up to 2 kg: Once the freezer temperature is -18° C, you can freeze fresh, room-temperature foods.

• Over 2 kg: Keep fresh goods out of contact with existing frozen foods as they could start to thaw. If contact with stored food can not be avoided, we recommend that you create a cold reserve in the freezer before freezing the fresh goods.

The temperature in the freezer briefly rises after placing fresh goods inside. After 24 hours, the goods are frozen to the core.

Storing frozen food

The deep-freeze chain must not be broken between the manufacturer and your freezer. The temperature of the frozen food must always be at least -18° C.

Preparing ice cubes

CAUTION

Health hazard! Incorrect handling can lead to risks of causing food poisoning.

■ Use only fresh drinking water to make

ice cubes.

• Fill an ice cube container ¾ full with fresh drinking water and place it horizontally in the freezer compartment.

The ice cubes are best removed by

bending the ice cube tray slightly or holding it under running water for a short while.

Defrosting food

Therefore, do not buy any goods that

– are in frosty, over-icy chests. – are stacked above the stipulated high-load

marker.

– partially clumped (particularly easy to iden-

tify with berries and vegetables).

– have snow and juice traces. Transport frozen foods in special styrofoam boxes or insulated bags.

Observe the storage conditions and times on the packaging.

Observe the following basic rules when defrosting food:

– To defrost food, remove it from the freezer

and let it defrost at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

– Always defrost meat, poultry and fish in the

refrigerator. Make sure that the frozen food is not immersed in its own thawing liquid.

– To defrost food quickly, use the defrost

function on your microwave, for example. Observe the manufacturer’s instructions and note that bacteria and germs can form in this way.

– If you only want to defrost part of a pack,

remove the portion you need and immediately close the rest of the pack. This prevents “freezer burn” and reduces ice formation on the remaining food.

Cook or use thawed foods as soon as possible. Dispose of the defrosting liquid.

1. To test them, clamp a thin piece of paper in various places. The paper should be difficult to pull through at all points.

2. If the seal is not uniform everywhere: Warm the seal in the appropriate places in front of you with a hair dryer and pull it out with your fingers.

3. Only clean dirty seals with clean water.

Defrosting and cleaning the chest freezer

■ The thermal insulation of your ap-

pliance is made of sensitive insulating material. Therefore, do not use any electrical heating equipment, ice scrapers, knives, defrosting sprays, boiling water or any kind of aid with an naked ﬂ ame, for example candles, to speed up the defrosting process. The thermal insulation and the interior are scratch- and heat-sensitive and can melt.

Otherwise, you can wrap the frozen food thickly in newspaper and place it in another freezer in a cool room. You also have the option of using an insulated bag.

1. At least 3 hours before disconnecting, turn the thermostat control (4) to “6”. This way, the frozen food gets a cold reserve and does not thaw so fast.

2. After 3 hours, turn the thermostat control to “0”.

3. Disconnect the mains plug from the sock-

4. Take out the frozen food.

5. Unscrew the defrost water drain cap in

the base of the freezer anti-clockwise to drain the defrost water.

6. To accelerate defrosting, place a bowl of hot, but not boiling, water in the freezer.

7. Place a bowl under the defrost water drain (11) to catch escaping defrost water.

8. Unscrew the cap from the defrost water drain anti-clockwise.

10. Carefully scrape off any stubborn ice with the plastic scraper (3).

11. Wipe the interior with warm rinsing water.

12. Clean the chest freezer (see figure „Check and clean the cover seals“ on page GB-16).

13. After cleaning, thoroughly rub everything dry, including the door. Ventilate everything for a short time.

14. Screw the cap back into the defrost water drain at the base of the chest freezer.

15. Close the defrost water drain with the cap.

16. Plug the mains plug back into the socket and turn the thermostat control to “6”.

17. Once a temperature of -18° C is reached, you can re-pack your frozen food. Set the thermostat control to the desired cooling capacity.

Malfunctions can occur in all electrical appliances. This does not necessarily mean there is a defect in the appliance. For this reason, please check the tables to see if you can correct the malfunction.

Environmental protection

Disposing of old electrical devices in an environmentally-friendly manner

Electrical appliances contain harmful substances as well as valuable resources.

Every consumer is therefore required by law to dispose of old electrical appliances at an authorised collection or return point. They will thus be made available for environmentally-sound, resource-saving recycling.

You can dispose of old electrical appliances free of charge at your local recycling centre.

Please contact your dealer directly for more information about this topic.

Our contribution to the protection of the ozone layer

100% CFC and HFC-free refrigerants and foaming agents were used

in this appliance. This protects the ozone layer and reduces the greenhouse effect.

1. Unpack the chest freezer and remove all packaging parts, plastic moulding, adhesive strips and foam padding from inside, outside and the back of the appliance.

2. Check that the delivery is complete.

3. Check to see if the chest freezer shows any signs of any damage sustained in transit.

Risks in handling household electrical appliances

WARNING

Risk of electric shock! Touching live parts may result in severe injury or death.

Risks when dealing with chest freezers

Fire hazard! Improper handling of the appliance can lead to ﬁ re and property damage.

■ Only connect the appliance to a

properly installed and earthed electric socket. Do not connect to a multi-socket extension cable or a multi-socket plug.

■ To ensure adequate air circulation,

the ventilation slots and the entire space above the unit must remain clear of obstructions.

■ Do not place the appliance directly

against the wall. Leave a gap of at least 15 cm.

■ Make sure that the ventilation slots

are not covered. Dangers from the refrigerant! Your appliance’s refrigeration circuit contains the environmentally-friendly, but ﬂ ammable refrigerant R600a (isobutane).

■ Mechanical intervention in the refrig-

eration system must only be carried

out by authorised specialists.

■ Do not damage the refrigeration cir-

cuit, for example by piercing the re-

frigerant channels of the condensate

vaporiser with sharp objects, cutting

off the tubing, etc.

■ Refrigerant is ﬂ ammable when spurt-

ing out and can damage the eyes. In

this case, rinse your eyes in clean wa-

ter and seek medical assistance im-

mediately.

■ To prevent the formation of a ﬂ am-

mable gas-air mixture in the event of

a leakage in the refrigeration circuit,

the installation space must have a

minimum size of 1 m³ per 8 g of re-

frigerant in compliance with the EN

378 standard. The amount of refrig-

erant in your appliance is indicated

on the data sheet (see page GB-23).

■ Do not place heat-emitting applianc-

es such as microwaves, toasters etc.

any electrical appliances inside the

appliance.

ping when laying the mains cord.

Health hazards with frozen food!

Incorrect handling, insufﬁ cient cooling or overlapping items can spoil the stored food. This could lead to a risk of food poisoning when consumed!

■ In particular, pack raw meat and ﬁ sh

carefully to ensure that adjacent food cannot be contaminated by salmonella or similar bacteria.

■ Abide by the storage times recom-

mended by food manufacturers.

■ Note that the shelf life of the frozen

food may be shortened due to a rise in the temperature inside the appliance (from defrosting, cleaning or power failure).

■ In case of prolonged power failure or

the stored foodstuffs are still edible.

■ Consume thawed and defrosted

foods immediately, do not refreeze.

■ Use only drinking water to make ice

cubes. The appliance may not operate properly if exposed to low ambient temperatures for extended periods of time. This can then lead to an increase in temperature inside the appliance.

perature (see “climate category” line

Health hazard! Contaminated foods can cause health problems.

■ Opening the door for long periods can

cause a signiﬁ cant increase of the

temperature in the compartments of

the appliance.

■ Clean regularly surfaces that can

come in contact with food and acces-

sible drainage systems.

■ Two-star frozen-food compartments

are suitable for storing pre-frozen

food, storing or making ice-cream

and making ice cubes.

■ One-, two- and three-star compart-

ments are not suitable for the free-

zing of fresh food.

■ If the refrigerating appliance is left

empty for long periods, switch off,

defrost, clean, dry, and leave the door

open to prevent mould developing

within the appliance.

Risk of injury from frozen goods! Improper handling of the appliance may result in injury. Risk of burns caused by low temperatures.

■ The food and the inside walls of the

freezer unit have a very low temper-

ature. Never touch them with wet

hands. This can cause injury to the skin. Skin damage can occur even with dry skin.

■ Do not put ice cubes or ice lollies

straight from the freezer into your mouth.

NOTICE

Risk of damage! If the cooling unit has been transported on its end, lubricant from the compressor may get into the cooling circuit.

■ Where possible, keep the cooling unit

level when transporting it.

■ Allow the cooling unit to stand for 2

hours before start-up. The lubricant will ﬂ ow back into the compressor during this time.

Improper handling of the appliance can lead to property damage.

■ The appliance must only be placed

on a level and ﬁ rm surface. The surface must be strong enough to support the appliance’s weight when fully laden.

■ Do not use sharp objects to unpack it.

■ Only electrical parts that conform to

the manufacturer’s recommended design may be used inside the appliance.

■ Do not use any mechanical devices or

means other than those recommended by the manufacturer.

■ Do not place any heat-emitting appli-

ances such as microwaves or toasters on the chest freezer. Make sure that the ventilation slots are not covered.

■ The interior light must only be used

to illuminate the interior of the appli-

ance. It is not suitable for use as light-

ing for a room.

■ Do not store glass or metal contain-

ers containing water, lemonade, beer

etc. Water expands when frozen and

can burst the container.

■ Defrost the appliance in a time-

ly manner, before it forms a layer of

ice and frost of more than 5 mm. Ex-

cessive ice formation increases pow-

er consumption and the lid may no

longer close tightly.

■ Do not use any means other than

those recommended by the manufac-

turer to speed up defrosting. For ex-

ample, do not use any electric heat-

ing equipment, knives or devices with

an open ﬂ ame such as a candle. The

thermal insulation and the interior

are scratch- and heat-sensitive and

can melt.

■ When cleaning, please note: – Never use harsh, granular, soda,

acid, solvent-based or abrasive cleaners. These attack the plastic surfaces. All-purpose cleaners with neutral pH are recommended.

– Cover seals and plastic parts are

sensitive to oil and grease. Remove contaminants as quickly as possible.

– Use only soft cloths for cleaning.

■ Make sure that no water gets into the

ventilation slots, the electrical parts or the drain opening.

■ Wait 5 minutes after switching off.

Only then switch the appliance on again.

■ Only use original accessories.

Transport and unpacking

• Tape the castors under the chest freezer with adhesive tape to ensure stability during transport.

• Transport the chest freezer using a trolley or with the help of a second person.

• Remove the adhesive strips from the castors. Lift the chest freezer slightly onto its left side and push or pull it until it reaches the desired position.

• Unpack the chest freezer and carefully remove all packaging, plastic moulding, adhesive strips and foam padding from the inside, outside and back of the chest freezer.

Choose a suitable location

Safety

For safety reasons, the room in which it is installed must have a minimum size.

Airflow

To ensure adequate air circulation,

– the chest freezer should not stand directly

against the wall. Leave at least 15 cm from the wall, cabinets and other appliances.

– the ventilation grilles must remain clear

and must not be covered.

– the entire area above the chest freezer

must be unobstructed.

Cooling capacity

To achieve the highest possible cooling performance with the least energy consumption, choose a location that:

– is not too warm, is dry and well ventilated, – is not in direct sunlight.

Set up the chest freezer and align

1. Place the chest freezer on as flat and as firm a base as possible.

2. Check the position with a spirit level.

3. Level out any unevenness on the ground using both of the front levelling screws. To do this

– close the lid. – tilt the chest freezer slightly to the right. – twist the levelling screws in or out until

the chest freezer is vertically level and set the chest freezer straight back down again.

4. Check the alignment with a spirit level. When opening the lid, the chest freezer should not shift.

Connecting the chest freezer

It is recommended not to place it next to an oven, stove or radiator. Abide by minimum distances:

– to electric stoves: 15 cm, – to oil and coal burning stoves: 30 cm, – to refrigerators: 15 cm, – to washing machines/dishwashers: 15 cm.

If underfloor heating is installed in the room where the chest freezer is to be installed, place an insulating plate of solid material under the chest freezer.

NOTICE

Risk of damage! The coolant must be allowed to settle before connecting.

■ After transport leave the appliance to

stand for 2 hours.

• Connect the mains plug to a properly installed socket (220-240V ~ / 50Hz / 10A). The power (7) indicator lights up.

Requirements

You can use the chest freezer once

– you have read the “Safety” chapter and un-

derstood the safety instructions (see page GB-4).

– it has been set up and connected as de-

scribed in the “Start-up” chapter (see page GB-9).

Operating displays

Power (7) illuminates as soon as power is supplied to the chest freezer.

Run (8) illuminates when the compressor is working.

Alarm (9) illuminates when the chest freezer temperature rises above the set level and during normal operation will occur

– immediately after start-up, after defrosting

and cleaning. – after a prolonged power failure. – if you have stored a large amount of fresh

food.

As soon as the set temperature is reached, the Alarm indicator turns off automatically.

If none of this happens, refer to “Troubleshooting table” on page 19 to correct the problem.

2. If the chest freezer makes worrying noises check the solid base and remove any objects that are on top of the chest freezer.

Switch off / shutdown

If you do not want to use the empty freezer, switch it off in the following way:

1. To switch off the freezer, turn the thermostat control (4) to “OFF” and pull out the mains plug.

2. Remove the freezer baskets from the chest freezer.

3. Clean the chest freezer (see „Cleaning and maintenance“ on page GB-16).

4. Leave the lid slightly open, so mould does not form on the inside. You have now switched off the chest freezer and it is no longer in use.

Switching on again

If the running operation has been interrupted, the freezer can not be restarted immediately. It is interrupted,

– if you set the thermostat control (4) to “OFF”. – if you unplug the mains plug from the socket. – in the event of a power failure.

• Wait 4 to 5 minutes before restarting the chest freezer.

If the lid of your freezer does not open

again after closing, it has formed a vacuum inside. Wait for 1 to 2 minutes, and then the lid can be easily opened again.

Thermostat control

CAUTION

Health hazard! The appliance may not operate properly if exposed to low ambient temperatures for extended periods of time. This can then lead to an increase in temperature inside the appliance.

■ Abide by the speciﬁ ed ambient tem-

perature (see “Climate category” on page GB-23).

duce the cooling capacity.

– To set a lower temperature turn the ther-

mostat towards “6”.

2. Adjust the temperature in the freezer according to the ambient temperature (e.g. in summer towards “6”) and the amount of stored food.

ments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh food.

■ If the refrigerating appliance is left

empty for long periods, switch off, defrost, clean, dry, and leave the door open to prevent mould developing within the appliance.

Suitable packaging

Packaging is important when deep-freezing. This will protect against oxidation, penetration by microbes, transfer of odours and flavourings and drying out (freezer burn).

• Only use packaging material that is

strong, impermeable to air and liquid, not too stiff and labelled. It should be designated as suitable for freezer use.

• Use plastic clips, rubber bands or adhe-

sive tapes to seal.

• Label the frozen food by type, quantity,

amount and expiry date. Use waterproof marker pens or adhesive labels wherever possible.

Portions

• Use flat portions as much as possible;

these freeze through to the core faster.

• Expel the air from the freezer bag as this

causes the contents to dry out and takes up space.

• Fill liquid containers no more ¾ full, be-

cause liquids expand when frozen.

• Do not store glass or metal containers

Preparing the food

• Only freeze high quality food.

• Freeze fresh and prepared food dry and unseasoned. Unsalted foods are more durable.

• Allow prepared food to cool before freezing. This not only saves power, but also prevents excessive frost formation in the freezer area.

• Carbonated drinks are not suitable for freezing because the carbon dioxide escapes during freezing.

How to pack the freezer properly

Adhere to the maximum freezing capacity. You will find information about “Freezing capacity in kg/24 hours” in the data sheet on page GB-23.

Freeze smaller quantities

• Up to 2 kg: Once the freezer temperature is -18° C, you can freeze fresh, room-temperature foods.

The temperature in the freezer briefly rises after placing fresh goods inside. After 24 hours, the goods are frozen to the core.

Storing frozen food

The deep-freeze chain must not be broken between the manufacturer and your freezer. The temperature of the frozen food must always be at least -18° C.

Preparing ice cubes

CAUTION

Health hazard! Incorrect handling can lead to risks of causing food poisoning.

■ Use only fresh drinking water to make

ice cubes.

• Fill an ice cube container ¾ full with fresh drinking water and place it horizontally in the freezer compartment.

The ice cubes are best removed by

bending the ice cube tray slightly or holding it under running water for a short while.

Defrosting food

Therefore, do not buy any goods that

– are in frosty, over-icy chests. – are stacked above the stipulated high-load

marker.

– partially clumped (particularly easy to iden-

tify with berries and vegetables).

– have snow and juice traces. Transport frozen foods in special styrofoam boxes or insulated bags.

Observe the storage conditions and times on the packaging.

Observe the following basic rules when defrosting food:

– To defrost food, remove it from the freezer

and let it defrost at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

– Always defrost meat, poultry and fish in the

refrigerator. Make sure that the frozen food is not immersed in its own thawing liquid.

– To defrost food quickly, use the defrost

function on your microwave, for example. Observe the manufacturer’s instructions and note that bacteria and germs can form in this way.

– If you only want to defrost part of a pack,

remove the portion you need and immediately close the rest of the pack. This prevents “freezer burn” and reduces ice formation on the remaining food.

Cook or use thawed foods as soon as possible. Dispose of the defrosting liquid.

■ Never use harsh, soda, acid, solvent

or abrasive cleaners. These attack the plastic surfaces. All-purpose cleaners with neutral pH are recommended.

■ Use care products only on the outer

surfaces.

■ Never spray the device with a water

jet (e.g. high-pressure cleaner).

■ Only use soft cloths.

• Use only light pH-neutral soapy water.

• Wipe dry.

• Regularly remove dust deposits from the ventilation grilles on the back and on the right hand side of the chest freezer to minimise energy consumption.

The door seals can get damaged by improper handling.

■ The door seals are sensitive to oil and

grease – making the rubber porous and brittle. Only clean using clean water.

■ Only use soft cloths.

The cover seals must be checked regularly so that no air can enter the chest freezer.

1. To test them, clamp a thin piece of paper in various places. The paper should be difficult to pull through at all points.

2. If the seal is not uniform everywhere: Warm the seal in the appropriate places in front of you with a hair dryer and pull it out with your fingers.

3. Only clean dirty seals with clean water.

■ Use only soft cloths for cleaning.

■ Defrost the appliance before it forms

a layer of ice and frost of more than 5 mm. Excessive ice formation inside the appliance can break the door.

■ Do not use any mechanical devices or

means other than those recommended by the manufacturer to accelerate defrosting.

Health hazard! An increase in the temperature of the frozen food during defrosting can shorten the shelf-life of the frozen food.

■ Ensure that the frozen food is kept

sufﬁ ciently cool during defrosting.

Risk of injury! Improper handling of the appliance can lead to skin damage and injuries.

■ Never touch the inside walls or frozen

food with wet hands. Injuries can also occur with dry hands though.

■ Use a dry towel to remove the frozen

1. At least 3 hours before disconnecting, turn the thermostat control (4) to “6”. This way, the frozen food gets a cold reserve and does not thaw so fast.

2. After 3 hours, turn the thermostat control to “0”.

6. To accelerate defrosting, place a bowl of hot, but not boiling, water in the freezer.

7. Place a bowl under the defrost water drain (11) to catch escaping defrost water.

8. Unscrew the cap from the defrost water drain anti-clockwise.

10. Carefully scrape off any stubborn ice with the plastic scraper (3).

11. Wipe the interior with warm rinsing water.

12. Clean the chest freezer (see figure „Check and clean the cover seals“ on page GB-16).

13. After cleaning, thoroughly rub everything dry, including the door. Ventilate everything for a short time.

14. Screw the cap back into the defrost water drain at the base of the chest freezer.

15. Close the defrost water drain with the cap.

16. Plug the mains plug back into the socket and turn the thermostat control to “6”.

17. Once a temperature of -18° C is reached, you can re-pack your frozen food. Set the thermostat control to the desired cooling capacity.
