Operating Instructions:
• Connect the conductivity probe to the meter (Fig. 1).
• Turn the CONMET 2 on with the ON/OFF switch located on the top of the instrument.
• Dip the CONMET 2 into the solution up to an acceptable immersion level. Ensure that all 4 rings of the electrode are immersed but do not immerse above the maximum level (Fig. 2).
• Stir gently to remove any air bubbles trapped inside the probe shield. Wait for the reading to stabilize. Because CONMET 2 has ATC, the displayed value is referenced to 25°C (77°F).
• When introduced into a new sample, it is recommended to rinse the conductivity probe with the sample solution before the actual measurement. This avoids the possibility of crosscontamination errors.
• When not in use, switch the CONMET 2 off.
• To improve performance, clean the probe regularly by rinsing in alcohol for a few minutes.
• Replace all 4x1.5V batteries if the display becomes faint or disappears, or if the reading is unstable or unchanged.
• To replace the batteries, switch the CONMET 2 off. Pull out the battery compartment and replace the batteries (Fig. 3). Battery replacement must only take place in a non hazardous area using the battery type specified in this instruction manual.
Calibration Instructions:
• If readjustment is required, connect the conductivity probe to the meter without covering the calibration slot (Fig. 4).
• To readjust the CONMET 2, dip it into the calibration solution HI7030 (12.88 mS/cm @25°C/77°F). Wait 30 to 45 seconds for the reading to stabilize and, if necessary, correct the reading to "12.88 " by slowly turning the calibration trimmer with the small screwdriver provided. Return the conductivity probe to its working position when finished.
The CONMET 2 Conductivity Meter is supplied in a rugged plastic carrying case with a 120 mL HI 7030 calibration solution bottle (Fig. 5). A small screwdriver is provided and it is located below the meter.
Recommendations for Users:
Before using this product, ensure that it is entirely suitable for the environment in which it is used. Operation of this instrument in residential area could cause unacceptable interferences to radio and TV equipments, requiring the operator to take all necessary steps to correct interferences. The metal sensors of the probe are sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Avoid touching these metal sensors at all times. Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied equipment may degrade the instrument's EMC performance. To avoid electrical shock, do not use these instruments when voltages at the measurement surface exceed 24VAC or 60VDC. To avoid damages or burns, do not perform any measurement in microwave ovens. The instrument has to be switched off before cleaning the conductivity probe.
*Automatic Temperature Compensation
Since the conductivity concentration changes as the temperature of the sample changes, ATC standardizes the value you read to 25°C (77°F). This feature eliminates the need to measure the temperature and calculate its effects on the conductivity concentration of the sample each time you perform a measurement. The results will be measurements that are consistent with the temperature variable eliminated.
