Measurement and Calibration
For bet ter accuracy, f requent calibra tion of the meter i s recommended. In a ddition,
the inst rument must be re calibrated:
• When hi gh accuracy is req uired.
• At least once a mon th.
Measurement
Press t he ON/OFF but ton to turn the m eter ON. Place th e probe to the de sired soluti on.
The conductivity value, automatically compensated for temperature, will be shown
on the LCD.
The meas ured temperat ure will be shown o n the secondar y LCD.
Note: Befor e taking any mea surement make su re the meter has bee n calibrated.
Calibration Procedure
• Pres s CAL button to enter calibration mode from measur ement mode.
• The meter will enter the calibration mode, displaying “ppm 1382 USE” with CAL
tag blinking.
1. Pour 2” (5 cm) of standard solution int o a container.
2. Place the probe in calibration solution. The probe tip should be centered in the
solution and submersed 1.18” (3 cm). The meter will automatically recognize the
solution.
3. If the solution is not recognized or is out of the accepted range “---- Err“ is
displayed.
4. If the calibration solution is recognized “REC“ is displayed until the reading is
stable and the calibration is accepted.
• After acceptance, the “Stor“ message is displayed and meter returns to
measurement mode.
Clear Calibration
Place met er in calibratio n mode. Press ON/OFF and “Clr ” is displayed. Th e meter will
now be at default calibration.
Error messages
During user calibration, if the reading is out of the accepted range, the meter will
display “---- Err“.i.e. 2000 ppm blinking means the limit of the measured value is
out of range.
If the me asured temper ature is higher than 50.0 ºC or low er than 0.0 ºC, the 50.0 º C or
0.0 ºC tempe rature value wi ll blink on the LCD in me asure mode.
Care and Maintenance
To obtain th e highest accurac y for measurem ents it is impor tant to follow th ese tips:
• Calibra tion is only as good a s the solution be ing used. The cali bration solut ion
values change over t ime. Fresh solution shou ld be used for eac h calibration.
• The prob e should be rinse d with purifie d water each time b efore placing in
calibration solu tion or sample to b e tested.
Battery Replacement
0
The meter features a low bat tery indicator. When the battery is running low (under
10%), the battery indicator will blink on the LCD. When the battery is discharged
“dEAd bAtt” will be displa yed on the LCD for 2 s econds and the meter will t urn off.
To change the CR2032 Li-ion battery, turn the bat tery cover located on the back of
the meter counterclockwise to unlock. Remove cover and replace with new batter y
+ side fac ing up.
Note: Batteries should only be replaced in a safe area using the battery
type specified in this instruction manual. Old batteries should be disposed in
