Watercheck
™
pH and Conductivity Meter
Watercheck™1
pH and TDS Meter
OPERATION
• Turn the meter on and
select the measurement
mode: pH or Conductivity/TDS.
• Dip the probe in the
sample to be measured. Under no circumstances the immersion shall be
above the max. level
indicated above. Stir
gently until the display
shows a stable reading. The Conductivity/
TDS displayed value
is referenced to 25°C
(77°F).
• When testing a new sample, it is
recommended to rinse the probe
with some of the sample itself prior
to measurement. This prevents likelihood of cross-contamination.
• When not in use, switch
the Watercheck™ off.
pH CALIBRATION
• Turn the meter on and
set the switch to the
pH mode.
• Dip the probe in a
pH 7.01 buffer solution (HI 771P or HI
773P). Allow the display to stabilize and
using a small screwdriver slowly turn the
pH Calibration Trimmer
to read “7.0”.
CONDUCTIVITY/TDS
CALIBRATION
• Turn the meter on and
set the switch to the
µS/ppm mode.
• Dip the probe in a conductivity calibration solution (HI 771P) for
Watercheck
tion solution (HI 773P) for
Watercheck
™
, or in a TDS calibra-
™
1.
Wait for a couple of
minutes for the display
to stabilize and, if necessary, correct the
reading to ("1410" for
Watercheck™ or "1380"
for Watercheck™ 1) by
slowly turning the ppm/
mS Calibration Trimmer
with a small screwdriver.
MAINTENANCE
If the probe remains dry for a long
time, it is necessary to reactivate it
by immersing it in an HI 70300 storage solution for 4 hours before use.
The probe should also be rinsed
with plenty of water after use.
If you need to replace
the electrode, use an
hexagon key to remove
the screw on the side
of the probe before
detaching it from the
meter.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When the unit cannot be switched
on or the display segments fade, it
is necessary to replace all 3 x 1.5V
batteries.
Batteries should only be replaced in
a safe area using the battery type
specified in this instruction manual. Loosen the
upper screw and slide
off the cover on the
back of the meter. Replace all three batteries while paying attention to their polarity. Reinsert the
cover and tighten the screw.
It is recommended to recalibrate the
instrument whenever the batteries
are replaced.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR USERS
Before using these products, ensure that they are
entirely suitable for the environment in which they
are used. Operation of these instruments in residential area could cause unacceptable interference
to radio and TV equipments, requiring the operator
to take all necessary steps to correct interferences.
Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied
equipment may degrade the instrument’s EMC performance. To avoid electrical shock, do not use
these instruments when voltage at the measurement surface exceeds 24VAC or 60VDC. To avoid
damage or burns, do not perform any measurement in microwave ovens.
