OPERATION
• Connect the electrode to the meter as shown in the drawing, and turn the meter on.
Note: The PICCOLO® plus model
is provided with an OFF/pH/°C switch. Select the "pH" position for pH readings, or "°C" for temperature measurements.
• Remove the protective cap and dip the electrode in the sample to be measured, without exceeding the maximum immersion level. Stir gently and wait for the reading for stabilize.
• The pH value automatically compensated for temperature variations will be displayed.
• After use, always switch the meter off.
MAINTENANCE
• To reactivate a dry electrode, immerse it in HI 70300 storage solution for 4 hours.
• After use, rinse the electrode with water and store it with a few drops of storage solution in the protective cap.
CALIBRATION
• To access the calibration trimmers, slide down the probe. Then turn the meter on.
• Dip the probe in HI 7007 (pH 7.01) buffer solution and allow the reading to stabilize. With the supplied screwdriver, adjust the "pH7" trimmer to read "7.01" pH.
• Rinse the electrode with water and dip it in the second buffer. Use HI 7004 (pH 4.01) buffer if the solution to be tested is acidic, or
HI 7010 (pH 10.01) for alkaline samples.
• Allow the reading to stabilize, then adjust the "pH 4/10" trimmer to read "4.01" or "10.01" pH.
• The calibration is now complete and the electrode can be slided back to its normal position.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
When the meter cannot be switched on or the display fades, batteries should be replaced.
Unscrew the upper screw and slide off the battery compartment. Replace all 3 batteries while paying attention to the correct polarity.
Reinsert the cover and tighten the screw. After battery replacement, it is always recommended to recalibrate the instrument.
Batteries should only be replaced in a safe area and using the battery type specified in this instruction manual.
WARRANTY
These meters are guaranteed for one year against de- fects in workmanship and materials when used for their intended purpose and maintained according to instructions. Electrodes are guaranteed for six months. This warranty is limited to repair or replacement free of charge. Damages due to accident, misuse, tampering or lack of prescribed maintenance are not covered. If service is required, contact the dealer from whom you purchased the instrument. If under warranty, report the model number, date of purchase, serial number and the nature of the failure. If the repair is not covered by the warranty, you will be notified of the charges incurred. If the instrument is to be returned to Hanna Instruments, first obtain a Returned Goods Authorization Number from the Customer Service department and then send it with shipment costs prepaid. When shipping any instrument, make sure it is properly packaged for complete protection.
Recommendations for Users
Before using these products, ensure that they are entirely suitable for the environment in which they are used. Operation of these instruments in residential areas could cause unacceptable interference to radio and TV equipment. The glass bulb at the end of the electrode is sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Avoid touching this glass bulb at all times. During operation of the instrument, ESD wrist straps should be worn to avoid possible damage to the pH electrode by electrostatic discharges. Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied equipment may degrade the instrument’s EMC performance. To avoid electrical shock, do not use these instruments when voltage at the measurement surface exceeds 24Vac or 60Vdc. To avoid damage or burns, do not perform any measurement in microwave ovens.
