• Connect the electrode to the meter
with both writings (meter and electrode) facing upwards and turn the
meter on.
•Dip the probe in the
sample to be measured.
Under no circumstances the immersion
shall be above the max.
level indicated above.
Stir gently until the display shows a stable
reading. PICCOLO will
automatically compensate for the temperature variation.
•When testing a new sample, it is
recommended to rinse the probe
with some of the sample itself prior
to measurement. This prevents likelihood of cross-contamination.
•When not in use, switch the PICCOLO off.

•Slide down the probe to access
the calibration trimmers and turn
the meter on.
•Dip the probe in a
pH 7.01 buffer solution
HI 7007HI 7007
(
HI 7007). Allow the
HI 7007HI 7007
display to stabilize and
using a small screwdriver
slowly turn the pH 7 Calibration Trimmer to read
“7.01”.
• To perform a two point calibration,
if you are measuring acidic liquids
use a pH 4.01 buffer (
HI 7004HI 7004
HI 7004),
HI 7004HI 7004
and for alkaline measurements use a
pH 10.01 buffer
HI 7010HI 7010
(
HI 7010).
HI 7010HI 7010
• Rinse the electrode in
water and dip it in the
second buffer. Allow
the reading to stabilize and using a small
screwdriver turn the
pH 4/10 Calibration
Trimmer to read
“4.01” or “10.01” respectively.
• The calibration is now
complete. Return the
probe to its normal
position.

MAINTENANCE
MAINTENANCEMAINTENANCE
If the probe remains dry for a long
time, it is necessary to reactivate it
by immersing it in a storage solution
HI 70300HI 70300
(
HI 70300) for 4 hours before use.
HI 70300HI 70300
The probe should be rinsed with plenty
of water after use.
BATTERY REPLACEMENTBATTERY REPLACEMENT
BATTERY REPLACEMENT
BATTERY REPLACEMENTBATTERY REPLACEMENT
When PICCOLO cannot be switched
on or the display segments fade, it is
necessary to replace all 3 x 1.4V
batteries.
Batteries should only be replaced in
a safe area using the battery type
specified in this instruction manual.
Loosen the upper
screw and slide off the
cover on the back of
the meter. Replace all
three batteries while
paying attention to their
polarity.
Reinsert the cover and tighten the
screw.
It is recommended to recalibrate the
instrument whenever the batteries are
replaced.

Before using this product, ensure that it is entirely
suitable for the environment in which it is used.
Operation of this instrument in residential areas could
cause unacceptable interference to radio and TV
equipment. The glass bulb at the end of the electrode is sensitive to electrostatic discharges. Avoid
touching this glass bulb at all times. During operation of the instrument, ESD wrist straps should be
worn to avoid possible damage to the pH electrode by electrostatic discharges. Any variation introduced by the user to the supplied equipment
may degrade the instrument’s EMC performance.
To avoid electrical shock, do not use these instruments when voltage at the measurement surface
exceeds 24VAC or 60VDC. To avoid damage or
burns, do not perform any measurement in microwave ovens.
