A Produktbeschreibung
A1 Einleitung
Das REFO 60 ist ein Einwinkel-Glanzmeßgerät zur Messung aller normal
glänzenden Oberflächen. Das REFO 60-D ist ein Einwinkel-Glanzmeßgerät für
die Messung von normal glänzenden und metallischen Oberflächen.
Gemessen wird nach DIN 67530. Die Probe wird unter einem Winkel von 60°
beleuchtet. Die gerichtete Reflexion wird im Komplementärwinkel, ebenfalls 60°
gemessen. Die hohe Meßgenauigkeit ist durch die von Dr. Lange entwickelte
Referenzstrahltechnik gewährleistet.
Die Meßwertverarbeitung erfolgt durch einen Mikroprozessor. Alle Meßwerte
werden gespeichert und digital angezeigt.

A3 Geräteaufstellung
Packen Sie das Gerät vorsichtig aus und überprüfen Sie die Lieferung auf
Vollständigkeit ( Lieferschein ) und Transportschäden. Bitte bewahren Sie das
Verpackungsmaterial auf, um das Gerät bei späterem Transport oder Versand
wieder geschützt verpacken zu können.
Da es sich bei Ihrem REFO 60 um ein hochwertiges optisches Meßsystem
handelt, beachten Sie bitte folgende Aufstellungsempfehlungen:
• Vermeiden Sie, daß Wasser, entzündliche oder metallische Objekte in
das Gerät gelangen.
• Vermeiden Sie den Gebrauch bei übermäßiger Feuchtigkeit, Staub oder
Erschütterung.
• Das Gerät sollte nicht geöffnet werden. Es befinden sich keine vom
Kunden zu kontrollierenden Teile im Gehäuse.
• Bei Fragen oder Problemen wenden Sie sich bitte an unseren
Kundendienst.

B Bedienung
B1 Bedienelemente
Die Bedienung des Gerätes erfolgt ausschließlich über die Multifunktionstaste
auf einer der Längsseiten des Gerätes.Sie dient :
• zum Einschalten
• zum Kalibrieren
• zur Ausführung einer Messung
• zur Eingabe der Standardnummer und der Kalibrierwerte
• zum Ausdruck des Probenspeichers (nur bei REFO 60-D)
B2 Inbetriebnahme
B2.1 Batteriebetrieb
Zu Ihrem REFO 60 gehören 2 Batterien Typ AA, die vor Inbetriebnahme des
Gerätes in den Batterieschacht eingesetzt werden müssen. Danach ist das
Gerät direkt einsatzbereit.

C1 Kalibrierung
Sie sollten das REFO 60 mindestens einmal pro Tag kalibrieren.
• Gerät mit der Multifunktionstaste einschalten; im Display erscheint
die Anzeige des Meßwinkels 60°
• Gerät auf den Standard setzen, Schutzlappen zuvor entfernen
• Kalibrierung durch betätigen der Multifunktionstaste auslösen, im
Display erscheint zunächst CAL danach der Reflektometerwert des
Kalibrierstandard XXX.X
C2 Kalibrierstandards
Für die Glanzmessung gemäß DIN 67530 dient der Standard A ( LZM 150 ),
eine polierte hochglänzende Schwarzglasplatte. Für die Glanzmessung an
hochglänzenden Metalloberflächen (nur mit REFO 60-D) dient der Standard
Metallspiegel ( LZM 154 ) gemäß ISO 7668.
Die Kalibrierwerte für 60° befinden sich jeweils auf der Rückseite des
zertifizierten Standards. Hier finden Sie ebenfalls die Standardnummer, die eine
Rückverfolgung ermöglicht.
Die Oberflächen der Standards sollten nicht berührt werden und vor Verkratzen
geschützt werden. Decken Sie den Standard bei Nichtgebrauch ab und legen
ihn an eine sichere, möglichst dunkle Stelle.
C2.1 Eingeben der Standardnummer und des Kalibrierwertes
Nur bei einem Standardwechsel ist die Eingabe eines neuen Kalibrierwertes
erforderlich. REFO 60-D merkt selbständig auf welchem Standard es steht. Die
4-stellige Standardnummer und der Reflektometerwert für 60° befinden sich auf
der Unterseite des Standards.

• Gerät auf den Standard setzen.
• Multifunktionstaste ca. 10 sek gedrückt halten; im Display
erscheint erst CAL danach der Kalibrierwert XXX.X und zuletzt die
blinkende Standardnummer XXXX .
• Durch bedienen der Multifunktionstaste wird der Zahlenwert
erhöht. Anschließend warten Sie bis die nächste Ziffer blinkt.
• Wenn die Einstellung abgeschlossen ist, blinkt die komplette
Standardnummer bis Sie den Wert durch betätigen der
Multifunktionstaste bestätigen.
• Nun erscheint im Display der blinkende Kalibrierwert zu dessen
Einstellung Sie genau wie zuvor beschrieben verfahren.
C2.2 Pflege des Standards
Mangelnde Genauigkeit oder Reproduzierbarkeit der Meßwerte ist sehr oft auf
unsachgemäße Behandlung des Arbeitsstandards zurückzuführen. Da der Glanz
ein Oberflächeneffekt ist, ist höchste Sauberkeit von größter Wichtigkeit. Schon
leichte Unsauberkeiten, wie Spuren von Staub, Nikotin, Fingerabdrücke oder
Kratzer führen zu Meßwertverfälschungen.
Sie können den Standard vorsichtig mit einem weichen Tuch und einem
Fensterreiniger säubern.
ACHTUNG: Während und nach der Reinigung darf die Oberfläche nicht mit
den Fingern berührt werden.
Die Kalibrierwerte des Standards haben eine Gültigkeit von zwei Jahren.
Die Standarde LZM 150 und LZM154 besitzen jeweils ein Qualitätsprüfzertifikat
gemäß DIN 55350 Teil 18,4.

Durchführung der Messung:
• Gerät kalibrieren ( s. Kapitel C.1. )
• Das REFO 60 auf die ebene Probenoberfläche stellen
• Multifunktionstaste betätigen; im Display erscheint zunächst die
Nummer der Messung XXX gefolgt vom aktuellen Reflektometerwert
XXX.X
C4 Abschaltautomatik
Das REFO 60 schaltet sich automatisch nach 2-minütiger Meßpause ab.

D Technische Hinweise
D1 Wartung
Auch ein ausgereiftes Produkt wie das REFO 60 von Dr. Lange bedarf einer
pfleglichen Behandlung und einiger weniger regelmäßiger Wartungshandgriffe.
Das Gehäuse kann mit einem trockenen Lappen oder einem milden
Haushaltsreiniger gesäubert werden. Auf keinen Fall dürfen Lösungsmittel wie
Benzin, Aceton oder ähnliches verwendet werden.
Pflege des Kalibrierstandards siehe Kapitel C.2.2
Die Reinigung der optischen Teile sollte durch unseren Kundendienst erfolgen.
Weitere Wartungen brauchen Sie nicht vorzunehmen.

D3 Schnittstelle
REFO 60-D verfügt serienmäßig über eine serielle Schnittstelle, die das Senden
der angezeigten Daten an ein externes Gerät erlaubt. Außerdem läßt sich das
Gerät auch von einem externen Gerät fernsteuern. Die serielle Schnittstelle hat
folgende Eigenschaften:

D4 Batteriebetrieb
REFO 60 wird über zwei Batterien TypAA mit Strom versorgt. Die Batterien
gehören in das Batteriefach auf der Geräterückseite.
Die ausgetauschten Batterien können in allen Batterieannahmestellen zur
Entsorgung abgegeben werden

A Product Description
A1 Introduction
REFO 60 is a one-angle glossmeter to measure all types of normal surfaces.
REFO 60-D is a one-angle glossmeter to measure all types of normal and metal
surfaces.
The measuring is according to DIN 67530 with the sample being illuminated at
an angle of 60°. The directed reflection is measured at the complementary
angle, i.e. at 60°, too. The superior measuring accuracy is provided by Dr.
Lange’s reference beam technology.
The measured values are handled by a microprocessor. All values are stored
and displayed in digital format.

A3 Instrument Set-Up
Unpack the instrument carefully and check the delivery for missing parts
(delivery note) or transport damages. Please retain the packing material for safe
transport or shipment of the instrument.
As REFO 60 is a sophisticated optical measuring system, avoid the following
under all circumstances:
• Do not allow water of inflammable and me tallic objects to enter the
instrument.
• Do not use the instrument in excessively moist or dusty surroundings and
avoid dropping or shaking the instrument.
• Do not open the instrument. There are not parts in the housing for the user to
check.
• If you have any questions or problems, please contact our service
department.

B Operation
B1 Controls
REFO 60 is operated with the control button on the instrument’s side. It is used
to:
• turn-on
• calibrate
• measure
• enter standard number and calibration values
• print the sample memory (only REFO 60-D)
B2 Initial Start-Up
B2.1 Battery Operation
REFO 60 runs with two batteries type AA to be inserted in the battery
compartment before starting the instrument up. Then it is ready for operation at
once.

It is recommended to calibrate at least once a day.
• T urn REFO on with the control button ; the display reads 60°
• Put REFO on the standard, remove protective cloth first
Start the calibration with the control button , the display reads *Cal* ,
followed by the reflectometer value of the calibration standard XXX.X
C2 Calibration Standards
For gloss measurement according to DIN 67530 the for standard A (LZM 150) is
used. This is a polished black glass tile. For high-gloss measurements (only
REFO 60-D), however, standard metal mirror (LZM 154) according to ISO 7668
is necessary.
The calibration values at 60° are found on the back of the certified standard,
together with the standard number which ensures retraceability.
Do not touch or scratch the standard surfaces. Cover them as soon as they are
out of use and keep them in a safe, preferably dark place.
C2.1 Entering standard number and calibr ation values
You need only enter a new calibration value after changing the standard. REFO
60-D recognizes the standard on which it operates. The 4-digit standard number
and the reflectometer value for 60° are indicated on the bottom of the standard.
• T u rn on REFO 60 with the control button , display 60°
• Place the instrument on the standard
• Hold the control button down for approx. 10 seconds; the display
reads CAL first, then the calibration value XXX.X and at last the blinking
standard number XXXX .

• T o increase the displayed number, press the control button Then wait
for the next digit to blink.
• When the setting is finished, the entire standard number blinks until you
acknowledge the value with the control button.
• Now the display shows the blinking calibration value which is to be entered
just like the standard number before.
C2.2 Maintenance of the Calibrati on Standar d
Poor accuracy or repeatability of measurings is often due to improper handling of
the working standards. Gloss being a surface property, utmost cleanliness is of
vital importance. Even slight irregularities caused by nicotine, dust, fingerprints
or scratches can lead to mismeasurements.
The standards can be cleaned carefully with glass cleaning agent and a soft
tissue.
ATTENTION: Do not touch the standard surface with your fingers when
cleaning it.
The calibration values of the standards remain valid for two years.
Standards LZM 150 and LZM 154 are provided with a quality control certificates
according to DIN 55350 part 18, 4.

C3 Gloss Measurement
Measuring procedure:
• Calibrate REFO 60 (see chapter C.1.)
• Put REFO 60 on the level sample surface
• press the control button ;
• the display shows the number of measurement first XXX , followed by the
current reflectometer value XXX.X
C4 Automatic Turn-off
REFO 60 turns off automatically approx. 2 minutes after the last measurement.

D Technical Information
D1 Service
Even a product such as the Dr. Lange REFO 60 will benefit from occasional care
and attention.
The outer casing can be cleaned using a dry cloth or mild household cleaner.
Solvents such as benzine, acetone or similar substances must NOT be used.
For maintenance of the calibration standard, refer to chapter C.2.2.
Cleaning of the optical parts shouold be carried out by our customer service.
Further servicing need not be carried out.

D3 Interface
REFO 60-D has a serial interface installed to send the displayed data to an
external device. Moreover, REFO 60-D is suitable for remote control with an
external device. The serial interface features:

D4 Battery Operation
REFO 60 is powered by two batteries, type AA. The battery compartment is at
the back of the instrument.
Old batteries can be given to any battery collection centre for correct disposal.

A Description du produit
A1 Généralités
Le REFO 60 est un réflectomètre mono-angle pour toutes mesures de brillance de
surfaces normales. Le REFO 60-D est un réflectomètre mono-angle pour toutes
mesures de brillance de surfaces normales et métalliques.
Les mesures sont réalisées suivant la norme DIN 67530. L´échantillon est éclairé
sous un angle de 60°. La réflexion est orientée et mesurée sous l ´angle
complémentaire de 60°. La technique du faisceau de mesure développée par D r .
Lange assure une haute exactitude de mesure.
L´exploitation des valeur s mesur ées est faite par un mi cropr ocesseur . Toutes les
valeurs sont mémorisées et affichées numériquement.

Le REFO 60 est un appareil optique de haute quali té. Il est recommandé, l or s de
son installation, de prendre certaines précautions:
• Eviter que de l´eau, des matières inflammables ou des objets métalliques
entrent dans l´appareil.
• Eviter son utilisation en milieu très humide et poussièreux, éviter les chocs.
• L´appareil ne doit pas être ouvert. Il n´y a aucune pièce à contrôl er par
l´utilisateur à l´intérieur.
• Demander conseil à notre service clients pour toute question ou difficulté.

B Fonctionnement
B1 Element de fonction
Le fonctionnement de l´appareil se fait par l´intermédiai r e de l´ uni q ue touche
située sur le côté de l´appareil.
Celle-ci sert à:
• la mise en route
• la calibration
• la réalisation des mesur es
• l´introduction du numéro du standar d et des valeurs de calibration
• l´impression de la mémoi re ( s eulement pour l e R EFO 60- D)

B2.1 Utilisation sur piles
Deux piles de type AA font parties de la li v r ai son. Les i ntrodui r e dans leur
compartiment. L´appareil est alors prêt à fonctionner.

C Utilisation de l´appareil
C1 Calibration
Il est recommandé de calibrer le REFO 60 au moins une fois par j our.
• Mettre l´appareil en r oute par l a touche mul tifonction Affichage 60°
• Poser l´appareil sur l e standar d (enl ever auparavant la protection)
• Déclencher la calibrati on par pressi on sur la touche mul ti fonction
Affichage: CAL , puis la valeur de réflexion du standard de calibration
XXX.X apparait.
C2 Standards de calibration
Le standard A (LZM 150), une surface de verre noir polie, à haute brillance sert de
standard de référence suivant la norme DIN 67530. Le standar d Métal ( LZM 154) ,
une surface métallique à haute brillance sert de standard de référence Métal
suivant la norme ISO 7668 (seulement pour l e REFO 60- D ).
Le numéro et les valeurs de calibration à 60° se tr ouvent au dos des standards
certifiés afin de faciliter leur traçabilité.
Les surfaces des standards ne doivent être ni touchées ni rayées. Recouvrez les
standards quand ils ne sont pas utilisés et déposez-les en un endroit sûr et si
possible à l´abri de la lumièr e.
C2.1 Introduction du numéro du standard et des valeurs de
calibration
L´introduction d´une nouvelle valeur de calibration est nécessaire à chaq ue
changement de standard. Le REFO 60-D remarq ue lui - même sur q uel standar d i l
est posé. Le numéro à 4 chiffres et la valeur pour 60° se trouvent au dos du
standard.
• Mettre le REFO en marche par l a touche mul tifonction Affichage: 60°
• Poser l´appareil sur l e standard
• Appuyer sur la touche multi fonction pendant env . 10 sec.

Affichage: CAL , puis apparait la valeur de réflexion du standard de
calibration XXX.X et enfin le numéro du standard XXXX , lequel clignote.
• Appuyer plusieurs fois sur l a touche multi fonction jusq u´ à l´ appar i tion du
chiffre souhaité. Attendre que le chiffre suivant clignote.
• Quand la mise au point est terminée, le numéro compl et du standar d cl ignote.
Ce numéro est confirmé par pression sur la touche multifonction .
• Apparition de la v aleur de cal ibr ati on, laquelle clignote.
Répéter ce processus pour la mise au point de cette valeur .
C2.2 Entretien des standards
L´exactitude et la reproductibilité insuffisantes des valeurs mesurées sont souvent
causées par des standards de travail ayant subi t de mauvais traitements. Comme
la brillance est un effet de surface, la plus grande propreté est une nécessité
absolue. La moindre salissure, même invi sibl e à l ´oei l nu (ni coti ne, poussi èr es,
empreintes digitales, rayures) , condui t à des résul tats de mesur es err onés.
Les standards peuvent être nettoyés avec un détergent pour vitres du commerce
et un chiffon doux.
ATTENTION: La surface du standard ne doit pas être touchée avec les doigts
pendant et après le nettoyage.
Les valeurs de calibration des standards sont v al ables pendant 2 années.
Les standards LZM 150 et LZM 154 possèdent chacun un certificat de contrôle de
la qualité suivant la D IN 55350 par ti e 18,4.
C3 Mesure de brillance
Exécution de la mesure:
• calibrer l´appar ei l ( voir chap. C.1.)
• Positionner le REFO 60 sur la surface plate de l´échantillon à mesurer

Le numéro de la mesure XXX est d´abord affiché sur le display, puis
apparait la valeur de réflex i on XXX.X
C4 Arrêt automatique
Le REFO 60 s´éteint automatiquement 2 minutes après la der nièr e mesur e.

D Conseils techniques
D1 Maintenance
Même un produit aussi élaboré que le REFO 60 de Dr. Lange nécessite une
utiliasation soigneuse et quelques interventions de maintenance régulières.
Le boitier peut être nettoyé avec un chiffon sec ou un produit nettoyant doux du
commerce. Ne jamais utiliser de dissolvant tel que l’essence, l’acétone ou un
autre produit semblable.
Pour le nettoyage et l’entretien des standards de calibration voir le chap. C.2.2.
Le nettoyage des parties optiques doit être effectué par notre service clients.
Vous n’avez pas besoin d’apporter de maintenance supplémentair e à l’appareil.
