The Goldmund Logos 2 uses very innovative technology to achieve a level of definition and neutrality never found before in a sub-bass speaker system.
Please read very carefully the following instructions. This high-precision speaker is extremely revealing and can provide the best sound only if it is used properly.
The Logos 2 is never used as a stand-alone speaker. Its most usual configuration is associated to one or more pairs of Logos 1 Speakers or Logos HE Speakers in a 2 channel
or multi-channel speaker system.

ATTENTION
If you need to return the speaker to the factory or to your local representative for a warranty repair, please note that it must be repacked in the original packing. This packaging has been designed specifically to protect the Logos 2 Speaker in transit. Use of alternative packaging may result in damage, invalidating the warranty.
After unpacking, and despite its weight, the Logos 2 may still be moved easily if with care for acoustic setup. Be only careful to not damage the speaker grills which should be attached only when the speaker is set in its final position.

For optimal sonic result, it is essential that vibrations arising within the Logos 2 are evacuated to ground effectively. Solid coupling with a very rigid floor is an essential component in this process. If your speaker support is standing on a suspended floor, locate at least two of the floor contacts above a supporting beam or close to a supporting wall.
The Logos 2 Frame is ideally suited to house the Logos 1 (or HE) speaker plus Logos 2 system.

To arrive to the listener simultaneously, the waves front created by each speaker section in a system should be aligned to be at an equal distance from the listener position. This is more critical in stereo use than in multi-channel where the levels and delay of each speaker are adjusted separately.
The optimal departure position is when the front panel of each speaker is aligned to be at the same distance from the listening optimal point

Usable in any type of configuration, the Logos 2 has a built-in amplifier with both analog and digital inputs and a built-in input active filter.
The amp connecting panel provides two additional switches to select the analog or digital inputs and which channel of the SPDIF signal is used.
The only connections needed are the Power cord and the interconnect linking the Logos 2 to the output of the preamplifier, or in digital, the digital link cable for SPDIF input.
he Logos 2 is automatically powered ON when it receives modulation.
ATTENTION In most configurations, the ground wire from AC plug must absolutely be lifted on all amplifiers and on the Logos 2 connection to the AC line. Otherwise a bad ground loop may make amplifiers oscillate and be destroyed.

The connection is different if the speakers are used in a multi-channel system or in a 2 channels system :
A. Connection in a Multi-Channel system
If used in a multi-channel system:
• One Logos 2 may be connected to the Subwoofer channel, either in analog or digital (for Digital Input set-up see also the Universal Preamplifier User Manual for set-up detail).
• Two Logos 2 Subs may also be connected in parallel to the sub-woofer channel in analog.
• To match the Logos 1 speaker in frequency response, use the position 5 (50Hz position) of the crossover frequency adjustment and for Logos 1 HE use position 4 (55Hz). Level adjustment depends on the room acoustics.
• The 2nd & 3rd positions of the crossover are set for higher crossover frequencies (around 150 at position 2 and 80Hz at 3). Do not use it for linear response but only to emphasize the low frequency effects.
• The 6th position provides a 35Hz cutoff frequency and is used to complement a system based on the Goldmund Epilogue 1 speakers.
• The 1st (infinity) position provides the option to exclude the internal filter if using digital filters.
B. Connection in a two channel Stereo system
When used in a stereo system, a Logos 2 Active may be used to complement in low frequencies a pair of Logos 1 or Logos 1 HE speakers, or even a pair of Epilogue 1 speakers. You may use one or two subwoofers in analog:
• For two subwoofers connect the right channel source output (usually the preamplifier) to the right subwoofer analog input (labelled 1 ANA on the rear panel). Fit the shorting plug to Analog Input 2 (labelled ANA 2). Then connect the left channel source output to the left subwoofer, also using Analog Input 1 (marked 1 ANA) and fit the shorting plug to Analog Input 2 (marked ANA 2). This is important because the autostart detection system operates on Input 1 only.
The Logos 2 subwoofers should then be aligned to the same distance as the main speakers from the listening point.

• If you use only one subwoofer in analog, connect the right channel output from the source to to the right subwoofer analog input (marked 1 ANA on the rear panel) and the left analog input to the second channel (marked ANA 2).
• Frequency adjustment: see the above section.
• Digital Input set-up: see the Universal Preamplifier User Manual for set-up detail.

The Logos 2 Active, as any other top quality speaker needs several days playing music before providing the top sonic quality it is built to provide.
The few first hours can be very frustrating for a demanding listener. Do not hesitate to let it play quite loud some time before attempting any real system tuning or position adjustment.

To clean the metal case of the speaker, you can use a clean, soft, damp cloth. Dampen with water or a mild detergent solution. Avoid abrasive or harsh cleansers (eg. products containing sodium carbonate).
The identification plate is plated with precious metal. Simply clean it with a soft cloth, without any chemical solution.
