GMC YUKON IS THE NO-EXCUSES FULL-SIZE SUV ENGINEERED FOR THOSE WHO REFUSE TO SACRIFICE CAPABILITY FOR REFINEMENT OR CAPACITY FOR EFFICIENCY. THIS UNCOMPROMISING APPROACH GIVES YUKON DENALI THE MOST POWER IN ITS CLASS. IT’S WHY YUKON HYBRID IS THE FIRST FULL-SIZE SUV WITH A TWO-MODE HYBRID SYSTEM FOR THE BEST FUEL ECONOMY IN ITS CLASS.
1
IT’S ALSO WHY YUKON XL OFFERS NINE-PASSENGER SEATING AND CARGO CAPACITY UNMATCHED BY ANY COMPETITOR. TOGETHER, THESE ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND MORE MAKE YUKON THE BENCHMARK FOR THE FULL-SIZE SUV AND EXEMPLIFY WHY OUR ENGINEERS NEVER SAY NEVER.

THE MOST SCIENCE IN ITS CLASS.
Yukon Hybrid is the first full-size SUV to offer two-mode hybrid drive. Together with Yukon Denali Hybrid, they use the bre akthroug h techno logy of the Pow er Contr ol Manag ement Sy stem tha t seaml essly transitions between fuel and electric power. The result is a 33 percent improvement in EPA-estimated fuel e conomy durin g city drivi ng ove r the non-h ybrid model.

Maximum trailer weight ratings are calculated assuming a base vehicle, except for any option(s) necessary to achieve the rating, plus driver. The weight of other optional equipment, passengers and cargo will reduce the maximum trailer weight your vehicle can tow. See your GMC dealer for additional details.

To give you maximum power over t he widest range of eng ine speeds, VVT changes the engine’s performance profile to match the dr iving situation. In cit y driving, V VT gives you a smooth idle and quick re sponse at low speeds. On the open road, VVT ch anges your engine to a bold, highperformance V-8 with horsepower t o spare.

Yukon Hybrid pac ks a lot of power in a small space, thank s to its 300 volt Nickel- Metal Hydrid e (NiMH) batte ry pack. Its technology s tores power so efficientl y that the complete bat tery pack fits under th e second-row seat between the strong steel frame rails, leavi ng your passeng er and cargo volume unaff ected.

At low speeds and light loads, Yukon Hybrid can reduce fuel consumption by shutting off the engine and operating on electric power alone. It can also run on engine power alone, or a combination of both gas and electric. In the city, this technology offers an EPA-estimated 20 mpg, the best in its class.

With the advanced technology of Active Fuel Management (see below) at highway speeds, Yukon can use its 6.0L V-8 VVT engine in either V-4 or V-8 operation — sometimes with an extra boost of electric power— as conditions warrant. Full V-8 power is available for trailer towing, passing or pulling on a long, steep grade. In other words, you have all the power you need, when you need it, while still maintaining excellent fuel economy— an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway.

During normal stops, reg enerative braking uses the motors in the hybrid transmission as genera tors to decelerate the vehicle by applying resistance in the motors rather than brake friction. At the same time, th e motors are cap turing t hat ene rgy as e lectrici ty in th e 300-vo lt batte ry pack , electr icity that is avai lable for th e next acceleration cyc le.

For pa ssing, t railerin g or hi lly terr ain, pre ssing th e accelerator can reactivate all eight cylinders in milliseconds. For even greater power when necessary, the electric drive syste m can automatically eng age for extr a torque.

All 5.3L and 6.2L Yukon models are equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission engineered to extract optimum performance from the Vortec engine. Standard with all 6-speed automatics is Driver Shift Control (DSC), which lets you manually shift gears to suit driving conditions. Shift to the “M” position and DSC will also allow you to shift gears up and down with the +/- tap shift selector. All Yukon models also feature Tow/Haul mode and automatic Grade Braking (see page 14 for details).

a blend of 85 percent ethanol produced from mostly domestic renewable resources, and 15 percent regular unleaded gasoline. E85’s high-octane rating can also help improve your engine performance, increasing both power and torque.
At 403 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque, the Vortec 6.2L V-8 VVT engine that is standard in Yukon Denali a nd Yukon X L Denali offers the most horsepo wer and torque in its c lass. Th anks to this engine’s uncompromised engineering, its bold acceleration and passing capability are also matched with a smooth idle and progressive low-speed response rarely found in V-8s of similar performance.
