Connect the Broadband Router
A. Make sure you have the ISP login information for your Internet connection handy. This information is
normally given to you when you registered for the Internet account. You can also call your ISP for these settings.
B. Make sure all networking, DSL/Cable modems, and PC’s are
turned OFF.
C. Connect one end of RJ-45 Ethernet network cable (included) from
your PC’s Network Interface Card (NIC) to any one of the Router’s four (4) LAN ports.
D. Repeat above step to connect any other wired networking device.
E. Connect the terminal end of your DSL or cable modem network
line to the Router’s WAN (Internet) Port.
F. Power on your DSL or cable modem.
G. Connect the AC power adapter to the Router’s power port, and
then plug the adapter into the wall socket.
H. Make sure the power, LAN and WAN LEDs are illuminated green.
I. Unit will self test for approximately 5 seconds.
J. Power on the PC you connected to the router in Step C.
Configure the Router
Note: Make sure your PC’s TCP/IP Ethernet adapter is set to “Obtain an IP address automatically”. For more information see Windows Help.

Internet Connection Type
There are three possible types of Internet connections.
1. PPPoE: Most common for home DSL subscribers. You will need to provide the PPPoE User Name and Password.
2. Dynamic IP (DHCP): No login information is needed.
3. Static IP: You will need to complete the Internet IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS fields. You will need to enter at least one DNS address.
If you don’t know what type of Internet connection you have, don’t worry. SmartSetup3 will automatically detect your type of internet connection and open up your default web browser to the proper ISP login screen.
A. If the router’s web based configuration screen does not immediately open, type http://192.168.1.254 in
the address bar of your browser and press Enter.
B. When prompted by the dialog box for username and password, key in the default user name: admin and
the default password: admin Press OK.
C. Depending on your internet connection, one of the following ISP configuration screens will be displayed:
PPPoE Type Internet Login Screen
Static IP Address Type Internet Login Screen
