Disassembly Procedure for GFB BOVs (part #’s 1001 to 1005)
This procedure is used for changing the base adaptor or spring on the universal blow-off valve range
1001-1005, and general disassembly for inspection, repair or maintenance.
1. Using a 1.5mm hex key, begin by removing
the small grub screw on the side of the body
marked 1.
2. Now unscrew the base (2), taking care as the
spring will push the valve apart as you near the end
of the thread. It is a good idea to do this step over a
rag or cloth to catch any parts that may drop.
3. Replace the new base or spring with the
internal parts in the correct order as shown in the
exploded view. It is easiest to rest the base on a
table, then stack the parts on top, and lower the
body down onto the base. Press down to compress
the spring and screw the body onto the base.
4. Tighten the base as much as possible by hand,
then replace the grub screw (1).
5. Change the plumb back adaptor (3) by simply
unscrewing it. No additional fasteners are used
here.
6. Standard fittings supplied are 5035, which is
a 35mm base, which can also be mounted onto 1”
hard pipe. The standard plumb back adaptor is
5230, which is 30mm.
