Updating Machine Software
Note: If the firmware 137641J was previously
downloaded from the website or copied to
your computer from a thumb drive it must be
deleted from your computer before continuing.
1 Turn on the computer.
Note: If the firmware has been downloaded from
the website, continue to step 3.
Using a thumb drive:
2 Insert the thumb drive (Genie part number
219205) in the USB port.
All applications:
Note: Disable all external internet or network
connections before continuing.
3 At the GCON, turn the key switch to the GCON
position.
4 At the PCON, pull out the red Emergency Stop
button to the on position.
5 At the GCON, press and hold the Enter and
Escape buttons. Pull out the red Emergency
Stop button to the on position.
Result: The GCON LCD will display the
following read out below

6 Locate the diagnostic port on the side of the
GCON.

7. Remove one of the fasteners securing the
cover and set aside. Loosen the other fastener.
Do not remove it.
8 Connect one end of a CAT5 Ethernet cable into
the diagnostic port. Connect the other end into
a PC or laptop.
Result: The GCON LCD will display the

10 Launch a web browser such as Internet
Explorer ® or Firefox ® on your PC or laptop.
Type in the IP address from steps 8 and 9 into
the web browser address bar and press enter.
Result: The following screen will be displayed.
11 Select the Browse button. Navigate to the
firmware file 137641K.gff (rev K or above)
located on your hard disk or thumb drive.
Select the file.

12 Select the Load Flash File button.

13 Select the Reprogram Device (s) button to
start the ECM software update.
Result: The following screen will be displayed
after the software update is complete.
Note: Do not turn off power while the ECM is
being reprogrammed. This process may take
up to 5 minutes.
Note: Verify that "slab_2012K_prod" (rev K or
above) is displayed in the box marked "Current:".

14 Select the Run Application button to exit the
software update mode.
15 Push in the red Emergency Stop button at the
GCON and disconnect the CAT5 cable.
Remove the thumb drive if installed.
16 Secure the diagnostic port cover using the
retaining fasteners removed in step 5. Do not
over tighten.
17 Perform the Test Procedure (s) that applies to
your model.

Platform Overload Option
(GS-3232 and GS-3246 models)
The previous Rev J software update may have
enabled the Platform Overload Option. This option
will be stored in memory and the Rev K software
will not disable. This procedure will verify that it is
disabled and instruct you how to disable this
option if it has been enabled.
1 Turn the key switch to the ground controls
position and pull out the red Emergency Stop
button to the on position at the platform
controls.
2 Press and hold the ground control scroll up and
scroll down buttons.

Test Procedure
(GS-3232 models)
1 Turn the key switch to the PCON position. Pull
out the red Emergency Stop buttons to the on
position at the GCON and PCON.
2 At the PCON, raise the platform until it stops
and the alarm sounds. Release the platform up
and function enable buttons.
3 Press and hold the function enable and
platform up buttons.
Result: The alarm continues to sound and the
platform will not raise.
Result: The alarm continues to sound and the
platform continues to raise.
Lower the platform to the stowed position and
repeat the software update procedure or
contact the Genie service department.
Tip-over hazard. An improper
operating system will compromise
machine stability and cause the
machine to tip over, resulting in
death or serious injury.
4 Press and hold the outrigger enable and extend
buttons.
Result: The alarm continues to sound and the
outriggers do not extend. Continue to step 5.
Result: The alarm continues to sound and the
outriggers extend.
Lower the platform to the stowed position and
contact the Genie service department.
Tip-over hazard. An improper
operating system will compromise
machine stability and cause the
machine to tip over, resulting in
death or serious injury.

5 Lower the platform to the stowed position.
6 Extend the outriggers until the individual
outrigger lights turn solid green and a long
beep is heard.
7 Fully raise the platform.
Result: The platform raises to full height and
the alarm is not activated. Continue to step 8.
Result: The platform stops before full height
and the alarm is activated.
Lower the platform to the stowed position and
contact the Genie service department.
8 Lower the platform to the stowed position and
retract the outriggers.
9 Perform function test. Refer to the Operator's
Manual on your machine.
10 Return the machine to service.
11 Fill out and sign the attached Completion Form
and fax or email to Terex AWP Warranty
Department. This will serve as verification that
you have completed Safety Notice 120013.
