CAT III equipment is designed to protect against
transients in the equipment in fixed installations, such as distribution panels, feeders and short branch circuits for lighting systems in large buildings.
CAT IV equipment is designed to protect against transients from the primary supply level, such as an electricity meter or overhead /underground utility service).
CAUTION
• Read and understand all of the instructions and safety information in this manual before operating this tester.
• Failure to observe these precautions can result in injury and can damage the instrument.
• Using this unit near equipment that generates electromagnetic interference can result in unstable or inaccurate readings.

OPERATION:
1. Hold the Voltage Tester in your hand by
grasping and depressing the pocket clip operating switch. If the batteries are working you will observe a quick green battery check flash. Continue depressing the clip.
2. Test the device with a known live current
source by bringing the sensing tip nearby a working wall receptacle or cord.
The Voltage Tester is indicating voltage as long as the red LED light flashes and the “beep” sound continues to oscillate in close proximity of a cord connected to a power source.
3. After verifying above performance, the circuit
in question can be tested.
NOTE: Always verify performance as dead batteries in the voltage tester may give the false impression that a circuit is off, even though it is still live.
MAINTENANCE:
Do not attempt to repair this tester. It contains no user-serviceable parts.
Cleaning:
Remove grease and grime with a clean, dry cloth.
• Do not use abrasives or solvents.
BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
Packaged complete and ready to use with two “AAA” batteries installed.
1. Disconnect the unit from the circuit
2. Remove the battery cover with screwdriver
3. Replace the batteries (observe polarity)
4. Replace the battery cover

WARNING
• Instrument indicates positive presence of voltage between 50-1000VAC. Do not assume that no indication means a dead or de-energized circuit. Voltages below 50V may not be detected and pose a shock hazard. These voltages can cause serious personal injury.
• To avoid electric shock do not operate without battery cover in place.
• Do not use if Tester appears damaged or if the Tester is not operating properly.
• Do not expose the unit to extremes in temperature or high humidity or if the tester is wet.
• 1000VAC is the maximum voltage that this instrument is designed to detect.
• Do not use for indicating the presence of DC power.
• Voltage detector will not read voltages through metal conduct or the like, and will not read through walls at a distance.
• If the equipment is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, the protection provided by the product may be impaired.
