IMPORTANT SAFETY
NOTICE:
• The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic
Enforcement Act requires tile Governor of

Properly a(!justed burners, indicated by
a bluish rather than a yellow flame, will
ininilnize incolni)lete colnbustion. Exposure
to these substances can be nfinilnized flu'ther
by venting with an open window or using the
ventilation tim.
• When you get your cooktop, have the installer
show you the location of the gas shut-off valve
and how to shut it off if necessary.
• Have your cooktop installed mid properly
grounded by a qualified installer, in
accordance with tile installation instiuctions.
All)' a(!justn/ent and service should be
perfimned only by qualified gas range
installers or service technicians.
• Plug your cooktop into a 120:volt gromlded
outlet only. Do not remove tile round
grounding prong fl'om tile plug. If ill doubt
about tile grounding of tile holne electrical
s):stem, it is vour personal responsibility and
obligation to have an ungrounded outlet
replaced with a i)roperly-grounded three-
prong outlet ill accordance with the National
Electrical Code. Do not use an extension cord
with this appliance.
• Be sure all packing materials are removed
from the cooktop before operating it
to prevent fire or smoke damage should
the packing material ignite.
• Be sure your cooktop is correctly adjusted
by a qualified service techilician or installer
for the type of gas (natural or LP) which is
to he used.
• Do not attempt to repair or replace ally part
of your cooktop mlless it is specifically
recommended in this manual. All other
servicing should be reterred to a qualified
technician.
• Do not leave children alone or mlattended
where a cooktop is hot or in operation.

• Clean the cooktop with caution. If a wet
sponge or cloth is used to wipe spills on a hot

Slnother a flaining pan on a surtace burner
by covering the pan completely with a well-
fitting lid, cookie sheet or flat tray. Use a
inulti-i)uri)ose dry chelnical or flnml-type
fire extinguisher.
Flalning grease outside a pan can be put
out by coveting it with baking soda oI; if
available, by using a in ulti-i)urpose dry
chelnical or t0aln-tyi)e fire extinguisher.
• Do not store flammable materials near the
cooktop. Do not store or use gasoline or
other flalnlnable wq)ors and liquids ill the
vicinity of this or any other ai)pliance.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
• Do not let cooMng grease or other flmnmable
materials accumulate on or near the cooktop.
• Never leave surface burners unattended at
high flmne settings. Boilovers cause smoking
and greasy spillovers that may catch on fire.
• Adjust surface burner flame size so it does
not extend beyond the edge of the cookware.
Excessive flame is hazardous.
• Use only dry pot holders--moist or damp pot
holde_ on hot surtaces may result in burns
fl'om steam. Do not let pot holders come near
open flames when lifting cookware. Do not
use a towel or other bulky cloth in place of a
pot holder.
• To minimize the possibility of burns, ignition
of flammable materials and spillage, turn
cookware handles toward the side or center of
the cooktop without extending over a_!jacent
b/u'neI" oi" vent area,
• Always turn the surface burners to OFF
before removing the cookwaxe.
• Foods for frying should be as dry as possible.
Frost on fl'ozen foods or moisture on fresh
toods can cause hot tat to bubble up and over
the sides of the pan.
• Use least possible mnomlt of fat for effective
shallow or deep-fat frying. Filling the pan too
till of tat can cause spillovers when food is
added.
• Carefully watch foods being fried at high
flmne setting.
• If a combination of oils or fats will be used in
frying, stir together belore heating, or as tats
melt slowly.
• Always heat fat slowly, and watch as it heats.
• Use a deep-fat thermometer whenever
possible to prevent overheating tat beyond
the smoking point.
• Use proper pan size--aw)id pans that are
trustable or easily tipped. Select cookware
having fiat bottoms large enough to properly
contain fired and avoid boilovers and
spillovers, and large enough to cover burner
grate. This will both save cleaning time and
prevent hazardous accmnulations of tood,
since heavy spattering or spillovers left on
cooktop can ignite. Use pans with handles
that can be easily grasped and remain cool.
• Keep all plastics away from burners.
• To avoid the possibility of a burn, always be
certain that the controls for all burners are at
the off position and all grates are cool before
attempting to remove a grate.
• If the cooktop is located near a window,
do not use long curtains which could blow
over the burnei_ and create a fire hazard.
• If you smell gas, turn off the gas to the
cooktop and call a qualified service
technician. Never use an open flame to locate
a leak.
• Do not cover or block the area around the
cooktop knobs. This area must be kept clear
fin" proper ventilation and burner
l)erfl)rmance.
• Cook meat and poultry thoroughly--meat to
at least an INTERNAl, temperature of 160°F
and poultry to at least an INTERNAl,
temperature of 180°E Cooking to these
temperatm'es usually protects against
fl_odborne illness.

• Clean the cooktop with caution. If a wet
sponge or cloth is used to wipe spills on a hot
surface, be careful to avoid steam burns. Some
cleansers can produce noxious tirades if
applied to a hot surfi_ce.
NOTE: We recollllllend that wm avoid wiping
any surtace unit areas until they have cooled
and the indicator light has gone off. Sugar
spills are the exception to this. Please see the
Glass Cooktop Cleaning section.
• When the cooktop is cool, use only CEIL__MA
BRYTE Ceramic Cookto l) Cleaner and tile
CER,_dVIA BRYTE: Cleaning Pad to clean tile
cooktop.
• To avoid possible damage, do not apply tile
cleaning cream to the glass surtace when it
is hot.
• Alter cleaning, use a dry, cloth or paper towel
to remoxe all tile cleanin,* cream residue.
• Read and fl_llow all instructions and warnings
on the cleaning cream labels.
• Do not operate the glass cooktop if the glass is
broken. Spillovers or cleaning solution may
penetrate a broken cooktop and create a risk
of electrical shock. Contact a qualified
technician immediately should your glass
cooktop become broken.
• Do not stand on the glass cooktop.
• Do not touch glass surtilce while cooking. This
surlace may be hot enough to burn. During
and after use, do not touch, oi" let clothing or
other flammable materials contact tile
cooktop.
Hot surfaces mav include both tile cooktop
and areas taring the cooktop.
• Avoid scratching the glass cooktop. The
cooktop can be scratched with items such
as shaq) instI uments, rings or other jewelry
and rivets on clothing.
• I,arge scratches or impacts to glass cooktops
can lead to broken or shattered glass.
• Never use tile glass cooktop surtace as a
cutting board.
• Be careflll when placing spoons or other
stirring utensils on glass cooktop surtace when
it is in use. They may become hot and could

• To minimize tile possibility of burns, always
be certain that the controls fin" all surtace
units are at tile OFF position and tile entire
glass surtace is cool betore attempting to
clean the cooktop.
• Do not place or store itenls on to l) of tile
glass cooktop surtace even when it is not
in /1se.
• Use care when touching tile cooktop. Tile
glass surtace of the cooktop will retain heat
