GUIDE FORM SPECIFICATIONS TURNPIKE TM LUMINAIRE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The complete luminaire designated _______ (identify) shall be a GE TURNPIKETM luminaire, ordering number _______ (specify RPFS or RPFT, plus ordering number logic from catalog) or approved equal, to operate one _______ (specify [70, 100, 150, 200, 250 or 400] watt high pressure sodium [HPS] or 400 watt metal halide or mercury) lamp from a nominal _______ (specify 120, 208, 220, 240, 277, 347 or 480) volt, 60 Hz or (220, 230 or
240) volt , 50 Hz power source and shall be capable of starting and operating the specified lamp within the limits specified by the lamp manufacturer. The luminaire shall contain a completely prewired integral ballast and an optical assembly with ________ (specify MN2, MN3 or LN3 according to photometric selection table) IES Distribution Type. Standard construction is IP55.
MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION
The luminaire shall include a heavy-duty die-cast aluminum housing with an electrocoat gray paint finish _______ (specify dark bronze or gray), hinged and removable front access door assembly with borosilicate glass lens, environmentally protected external hardware and built-in aiming indicator.
The luminaire shall have a standard steel trunnion mounting with built-in aiming degree marker or optional knuckle slipfitter mounting (and optional photoelectric control receptacle).
OPTICAL ASSEMBLY
The optical assembly shall be sealed with a gasket around the perimeter of the front access door, contain an activated charcoal filter and include a formed aluminum reflector and heat/ impact-resistant clear flat door glass. The reflector shall have a chemically bonded lightweight nonbreakable ALGLAS on both inside and outside surfaces providing corrosion resistance, durability and ease of cleaning. The optical assembly shall contain an E39 mogul base socket with superior lamp gripping. The socket shall have added insulation, giving it the ability to handle the higher pulse ratings of newer HID systems.

BALLAST OPERATION
The ballast shall be prewired to the lamp socket and terminal board and there shall be a plug-in type ignitor for high pressure sodium fixtures. A tray-mount is available for ballast [RPFT]in selected units.
The fixture shall contain a standard _______ (specify) type ballast* in full compliance with lamp-ballast specifications available to the fixture manufacturer from the lamp manufacturers at the time of fixture manufacture.
As an option the ballast may have the capability of operating lamps at any of four voltages — 120, 208, 240 or 277 volts. When specified, the multiwatt ballast (250/400) shall be connected for 250 watts unless otherwise specified.
The ballast shall reliably start and operate the lamp in ambient temperatures down to -20°F for metal halide or mercury or
-40°F for HPS. The luminaire and ballast shall be from the same manufacturer.
