A DANGER!RISKOFCHILDENTRAPMENT
PROPERDISPOSALOFTHEREFRIGERATOR
Child entrapment and suffocation are not problems
of the past. Junked or abmldoned refiigerators are
still dangerous...even if they" will sit fbr 'just a few
days." If you are getting rid of your old refiigerato_;
please follow the instructions below to help prevent
accidents.
Before YouThrowAway YourOldRefrigerator
or Freezer:
N Take off the doors.
/}SfLeave the shelves in place so that children may
not easily climb inside.
USEOFEXTENSIONCORDS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend
against the use of an extension cord.
CFCDisposal
Your old refrigerator has a cooling system that used
CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons). CFCs are believed to
harm sn'atospheric ozone.
If you are throwdng away your old refiigerato_; make
sure the CFC refrigerant is removed fbr proper
disposal by a qualified servicm: lfyou intentionally
release this CFC refiigerant you can be subject to

However, ify_u must use an extension cord, it is absolutely necesmry that it be a UL-listed (in the United
States) or a (_A certified (in Canada), 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord having a grounding
type plug and outlet and that the electrical rating of the cord be 15 amperes (minimum) and 120 volts.

WARNING!
HOWTOCONNECTELECTRICITY
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the third (ground) prong from the power cord.
Forpersonal safety, this appliance must be properly grounded.
The power cord of this appliance is equipped
with a 3-prong (grounding) plug which mates
with a standard 3-prong (grounding) v_alloutlet
to minimize the possibility"of electric shock hazard
from this appliance.
Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by a
qualified electrician to make sure the outlet is
properly grounded.
If the outlet is a standard 2-prong ,a_l[outlet,
it is your personal responsibility" and obligation
to have it replaced with a properly grounded
3-prong wall outlet.
The refrigerator should alwaysbe plugged into its
owql indMdual electrical outlet which has a voltage
rating that matches the rating plate.
This provides the best performance and also
prevents overloading house wiring circuits which
could cause a fire hazard fi'om overheated wires.
Never mlplug your refi'igerator by pulling on the
power cord. _Mwaysgrip plug firmly and pull
sn'aight out from the outlet.
Repair or replace immediately" all power cords that
have become frayed or otherwise damaged. Do not
use a cord that shows cracks or abrasion damage
along its length or at either end.
When moving the refrigerator away from the
wall, be careful not to roll over or damage the
power cord.
USEOFADAPTERPLUGS_Adapt_rplugsnotpermitted in Canada)
Because of potential safety hazards under certain conditions, we strongly recommend against the use of
an adapter plug.
Howevm, if you must use an adapte_, where local
codes permit, a temporaryconnectionmay be made
to a properly grounded 2-prong wall outlet by"use
ofa UL-listed adapter available at most local
hardware stores.
The larger slot in the adapter must be aligned with
the larger slot in the wall outlet to provide proper
polarity" in the connection of the power cord.
When disconnecting the power cord from the
adapter, always hold the adapter in place with one
hand while pulling the power cord plug with the
other hand. If this is not done, the adapter ground
terminal is veiT likely to break with repeated use.
If the adapter ground terminal breaks, DONOTUSE

Trimkitsanddecoratorpanels.
For CustomS_le TM models
Read theseinstructionscompletely and carefully.
Before YouBegin
Some models are equipped with trim kits that allow you to install door panels. You can order pre-cut
black or white acrylic decorator panels or stainless steel panels from GE Parts and Accessories,
800.626.2002,or visit our Website, www.GEAppliances.com. In Canada call 1.888.261.3055or visit our
Website, www.geappliances.ca. Or you can add wood panels to match your kitchen cabinets.
Panels less than 1/4" (6 mru) thick
When installing wood panels less than 1/4" (6 mm) thick, you need m create a filler panel, such as
1/8" (3 mm) cardboard, that will fit between the lace of the door mid the wood panel. If you are installing
the pre-cut decorator panels, pre-cut filler panels are included in the kit. The combined thickness of the
decorator or wood pmlel mid the filler panel should be 1/4' (6 mm).
3/4" (19mm) or Raised Panel
A raised panel design screwed or glued to a 1/4" (6 mm) thick backing, or a 3/4" (19 mm) routed
board can be used. The raised portion of the panel must be fabricated to permit clearances of at least
2%" (67 mm) fi'om the hmldle side for fingertip clearance.
