detergent.
First,useonlypowderorliquid detergentsspecificallymadefor useindishwashers.Othertypes willcauseoversudsing.
Second,checkthephosphate content.Phosphatehelpsprevent
hard-watermaterialsfromforming
spotsorfilmonyourdishes.Ifyour waterishard (7grainsor more),
yourdetergenthasto workharder.
Detergentswithahigherphosphate levelwillprobablyworkbetter.If thephosphatecontentislow(8.7% or less),you’llhavetouseextra detergentwithhardwater.
Yourwaterdepartmentcantell youhowhardyourwateris. So
canyourruralcountyagent.Oryour
area’swatersoftenercompany.Just callandaskthemhowmany“grains ofhardness”thereareinyourwater.
Howmuchdetergentshouldyou use?Thatdepends.Is yourwater
“hard”or “soft”?Withhardwater,

Toomuchdetergentwithsoftwater notonly wastesmoney,itcanbe harmful.It cancauseapermanent cloudinessofglassware,called

If thisisyourfirstdishwasher,or ifyou’rereplacinga mucholder model,youmaywonderhowmuch pre-preparationyourdishesneed. Actuallyverylittle.Pre-rinsingof normalfoodsoilsisnotnecessary. Withcommonsenseanda little practice,you’llsoonknowwhat foodstoremove.Herearesome guidelines:
1, Scrapeoffbones,seeds,skins, toothpicksandotherhardsolids.It isalsobesttoremovehardshelled vegetables,meattrimmings,lea& vegetablesandcrusts.Remove excessivequantitiesofoil or grease.
2. Removelargequantitiesofany food.Yourdishwasherhasabuilt-in softfooddisposerthatpulverizes sofifoodbitsandflushesthemaway. It canhandlesmall amountsof sofifoods,butlargeamountsof foodas softas mashedpotatoesor applesaucewillbedifficulttohandle.
