Start Up Procedures (cont.)
Install battery.
• Remove battery and monitor assembly from plastic bag inside the pitcher. Turn the monitor cover over and remove battery cover by removing the screw and prying the cover off.
• Insert one CR2032, 3 volt battery positive “+” side up under the retaining clip.
NOTE:
Make sure the positive (+) side of the battery is up.
• Replace the battery cover by pressing around the lip to make sure it is fully installed.
• The blue light will flash five times, indicating that the timer is working.
NOTE:
If the blue light does not flash, check battery
orientation.
• Press the monitor cover into place on the handle. It will snap when it is in the proper position.
Replace lid cover. The lid will snap when it is in the proper location. Open the sliding lid and fill the reservoir with cold tap water and set the pitcher aside. Filtered water will begin to collect in the bottom of the pitcher. Continue to add water until the filtered water in the pitcher reaches the bottom of the reservoir. Do not overfill. Keep water below the bottom edge of the slot (see illustration below). Close the sliding lid on the pitcher.
NOTE:
If small, black carbon particles are present in the filtered drinking water, the filter cartridge may not have been thoroughly flushed. These small carbon particles are harmless, though it may be necessary to empty the first 1–2 pitchers of filtered water to flush out any remaining carbon particles.
Keep pitcher filter refrigerated at all times. After 3 to 4 days, replace unused water with fresh, clean water.
