USE AND CARE/INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Faucet Mount Filtration System—GXFM03C and GXFM04FBL
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
■
Check with your local public works department for
plumbing codes. You must follow these guidelines as you
install the Water Filtration System.
■
Use the Water Filtration System on a potable, safe-to-drink,
home COLD water supply only. The filter cartridge will not
purify the water, or make it safe to drink.
■
Do not use on a hot water supply (100°F [37.7°C] max.).
■
Install or store where it will not be exposed to temperatures
below freezing or exposed to any type of weather. Water
freezing in the system will damage it.
■
Your Water Filtration System will withstand up to 100 pounds
per square inch (psi) water pressure. If your house water
supply pressure is higher than 100 psi, install a pressure
reducing valve before installing the Water Filtration System.
■ WARNING: Do not use with water that is microbiologically
unsafe or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection
before or after the system. Systems certified for cyst
reduction may be used on disinfected water that may
contain filterable cysts.
■
Discard all unused and packaging material after installation.
Small parts remaining after installation could be a choke
hazard.
GXFM03C and GXFM04FBL are Tested and Certified by NSF
International against NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for the reduction
of Particulate Class 1, Chlorine, Taste and Odor and NSF/ANSI
Standard 53 for Lindane, Atrazine, lead, cyst and turbidity.
Your new GE faucet mount filter comes complete with all the necessary hardware for most installations. Each filter gives you up to 3 months
of great tasting water. The filter should be changed after 3 months of use or 200 gallons, whichever comes first.

INSTALLATION
Wash hands. Remove the existing aerator
from the sink faucet. Do not discard gasket;
it may be necessary to use the existing gasket
for the installation of adapters.
Identify the type of threads on the faucet:
■
External threads – No adapters should be
required. Proceed to Step 3.
■
Internal threads – Use trial and error to
select the proper adapter and washer
combination. Screw adapter and gasket
onto faucet. Be careful not to cross thread
the adapter; tighten manually.
NOTE: Adapters and gaskets have been included to connect to
most faucets. To insure a leak-free seal, you may need to use your
existing gasket (removed during Step 1) from your faucet’s aerator
in addition to the gasket included with this system. If the adapters
will not connect to your faucet, it is recommended to consult a local
plumbing or hardware store for assistance in obtaining the correct
adapter for your faucet.
Connect the faucet mount filter to the faucet/adapter by turning
the collar to tighten onto the threads of the faucet/adapter.
Be careful not to cross thread the unit; tighten manually. It is not
recommended but if necessary, you may use pliers to assist
with installation.
Slowly turn on the cold water (about half open) and check
for leaks. Tighten as necessary. Enter filter installation date
on change filter reminder and place on calendar at 3 months
from install date.
With the cold water fully open, pull the valve stem to begin
flushing the system. Flush new filters for 10 minutes to remove
any harmless carbon fines that may be in the system. When the
water is shut off, the valve stem will automatically return to the
unfiltered position.

To receive filter water, fully open cold water and pull valve stem. Allow water to flush
for 3 seconds before each use. When your water needs are finished, simply turn off the
cold water.
■ WARNING: Do not attempt to filter hot water above 100°F (37.7°C). It will
damage the filter cartridge and decrease performance.
NOTE: If it is necessary to connect a portable dishwasher to your faucet, simply unscrew
the aerator from the filter and attach the dishwasher according to the manufacturer’s
instructions.
Filter Cartridge Replacement
Turn off the water to the filtration system. Remove the old filter cartridge by using
the finger tabs underneath the housing and turning the filter in the direction
shown. Be sure to support the faucet and the filter housing during filter removal to avoid
damage. Dispose of old cartridge.
NOTE: Some water may drip from the system during filter cartridge removal.
Insert new filter cartridge into the filter housing and turn 2

⁄2–3 full turns, until it
stops. Slowly turn on the cold water and check for leaks.
NOTE: If leak occurs at filter, turn cartridge to make sure it is fully sealed.
With the cold water fully open, pull the valve stem to begin flushing the system.

GE GXFM03C and GXFM04FBL with FXMLC Cartridge Faucet Mount Filtration System
This system has been tested according to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 for reduction of the substances listed below. The concentration
of the indicated substances in water entering the system was reduced to a concentration less than or equal to the permissible
limit for water leaving the system, as specified in NSF/ANSI 42 and 53.

NOTE: Substances reduced are not necessarily in your water. Filter must be maintained according to manufacturer’s
instructions, including replacement of filter cartridges.
