Use this appliance only for its intended
purpose as described in this Owner's

This air conditioner must be properly

installed in accordance with the Installation
Instructions before it is used.

Never unplug your air conditioner by pulling
on the power cord. Always grip plug firmly
and pull straight out from the receptacle.

Replace immediately all electric service
cords that have become frayed or otherwise
damaged. A damaged power supply cord
must be replaced with a new power supply

cord obtained from the manufacturer and
not repaired. Do not use a cord that shows

cracks or abrasion damage along its length
or at either the plug or connector end.

Turn the unit OFFand unplug your air

conditioner before cleaning.
GEdoes not support any servicing of the

air conditioner. We strongly recommend

that you do not attempt to service the air

conditioner yourself.

For your safety_do not store or use
combustible materials, gasoline or other

flammable vapors or liquids in the vicinity

of this or any other appliance.

All air conditioners contain refrigerants,
which under federal law must be removed

prior to product disposal. If you are getting
rid of an old product with refrigerants, check

with the company handling disposal about
what to do.

If the receptacle does not match the plug,

the receptacle must be changed out by a

qualified electrician.

These R410A air conditioning systems

require contractors and technicians to
use tools, equipment and safety standards
approved for use with this refrigerant.
DO NOT use equipment certified for
R22 refrigerant only.

HOW TO CONNECT ELECTRICITY

Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove
the third (ground) prong from the power cord.
For personal safety, this appliance must be
properly grounded.

DO NOT use an adapter plug with this appliance.

The power cord of this appliance is equipped
with o B-prong (grounding) plug which mutes
with o standard B-prong (grounding) wall outlet
to minimize the possibility of electric
shock hazard from this appliance.

Power cord includes a current interrupter device.
A test and reset button is provided on the plug
case. The device should be tested on a periodic
basis by first pressing the TESTbutton and
then the RESETbutton while plugged into the
outlet. If the TESTbutton does not trip or if the
RESETbutton will not stay engaged, discontinue
use of the air conditioner and contact a qualified

service technician.

Have the wall outlet and circuit checked by
u qualified electrician to make sure the outlet
is properly grounded.

Where a 2-prong wall outlet is encountered,
it is your personal responsibility and obligation to
have it replaced with u properly grounded
B-prong wall outlet.

The air conditioner should always be plugged
into its own individual electrical outlet which has

u voltage rating that matches the rating plate.
This provides the best performance and also

prevents overloading house wiring circuits which
could cause a fire hazard from overheated wires.

a new time if desired.

Tocancel the timer, pressDecrease • pad on

Do Not Operate in Freezing Outdoor Conditions
Thiscool-only air conditioner was not designed for

freezing outdoor conditions. Itmust not be used in
freezing outdoor conditions.

conditioner.

Theremote control signal has a range of
up to 20feet.

Cool Mode

Usethe Cool mode at Low,Med, High orSpeedfor
cooling. Usethe Temperature Increase • / Decrease

• pads to setthe desired temperature between 61%

and 86°Fin 1% increments.
An electronicthermostat isusedto maintainthe room

temperature. Thecompressorwill cycleon
and off to keepthe room at the set levelof comfort.

Setthe thermostat at a lowernumber and the indoor
air will becomecooler.Setthe thermostat at a higher

number and the indoor airwill becomewarmer.

NOTE:Iftheair conditionerisoff andis then turned on
while setto aCool setting or if turned from a fan

setting to a Coolsetting,it may take approximately
3 minutes for thecompressor to start and coolingto

begin.

Energy Saver Mode

Controls the fan.

ON--The fan will cycleon and off with the
compressor.Thisresultsin wider variations of room
temperature and humidity. Normally usedwhen the
room is unoccupied. NOTE:Thefan may continueto

run for ashort time after the compressorcyclesoff.

Make sure nothing isbetween the air conditioner
and the remote control that could block the

signal.
Make sure batteries arefresh and installed
correctly as indicated onthe remote control.

Cooling Descriptions
For Normal Cooling-Select the Cool mode and

High orMad fan with a middle settemperature.
For Maximum Cooling--Select the Coolmode

and High fan with a lower settemperature.
For Quieter end Nighttime Cooling-Select the

Cool mode and Low fan with a middle set
temperature.

OFF--Thefan runsall the time, while the compressor
cycles on and off.

Fan Only Mode

Usethe FanOnly Modeat Low, IViedor High fan
speedto provide air circulation and filtering without

cooling. Sincefan-only settings do not provide
cooling, a Set temperature cannot be entered. The

room temperature will appear
in the display.

Auto Fun Speed

Setto Auto for the fan speedto automatically set
to the speedneededto provide optimum comfort
settings with the settemperature.

If the room needsmore cooling,the fan speed
will automatically increase.Ifthe room needs less
cooling, the fan speedwill automatically decrease.

Grille and Case

Turn the air conditioner off and remove the plug from
the wall outlet before cleaning.

Air Filter

Theairfilter behind the front grilleshould bechecked
and cleaned at least every 30daysor

more often if necessary.

Toremove:

Open the inlet grilleby pulling downward on the tabs
at the top upper cornersof the inlet grilleuntil the

grille is ina 450position. Removethe filter.
Cleanthe filter with warm, soapy water. Rinseand let

the filter dry before replacing it. Donot clean thefilter
in a dishwasher.

Toclean,usewater and a mild detergent. Do not use

bleachor abrasives.

Outdoor Coils

Thecoilson the outdoor side of the air conditioner
should bechecked regularly. Ifthey are clogged with

dirt orsoot,theymay be professionallycleaned.

How to Insert the Batteries in the Remote Control

[TI WINDOW REQUIREMENTS

• Theseinstructions are for a standard double-hung
window. You will need to modify them for other types

of windows.

• The air conditioner can be installed without the
side curtain panels if needed to fit in a narrow

window. See the window opening dimensions.

• All supporting parts must be secured
to firm wood, masonry or metal.

• The electrical outlet must be within reach of the

power cord.

• Follow the dimensions in the table and illustration
for your model.

A storm window frame will not allow the air
conditioner to tilt toward the outside, and will keep it

from draining properly.
To adjust for this, attach a piece of wood to the sill.

FIINSTALL THE AIR CONDITIONER

oir conditioner in the window so thot is it
centered. Ploce the oir conditioner so thot

front edge of the bottom mounting roil is

Bring the window down so thot the front

edge of the top mounting is in front of the
window. Moke sure thot the oir conditioner

is level or tilting slightly to the outside.

Loosen the screw on the right hond side of the
oir conditioner neor the bottom.

•There is o protective time delay (approximately
3 minutes) to prevent tripping of the compressor

overload. Forthis reason, the unit may not start
normal cooling for 3 minutes after it is turned

back on.

condenser on rainy daysor when the humidity

You may hear the thermostat click when the

compressor cycles on and off.

de forma apropiada de acuerdo con las

Instrucciones de Instalaci6n antes de ser
usado.

Nunca desenchufe su acondicionador de aire
empujando el cable de corriente. Siempre tome

su enchufe de manera firme y empuje el mismo
hacia afuera del recept6culo.

Reemplacede inmediatotodos loscablesdel
serviciode electricidad peladoso con cualquier

tipo dedaho.Un cabledelserviciode corriente

que est6dahado deberc]serreemplazado
par unonuevo provistopar elfabricante, y
nodeberc]ser reparado. Nouse un cable con

cortaduras o abrasi6n sabre suextensi6no en
cualquieradesus enchufeso extremos.

Coloquela unidad enOFF(Apagado)y
desenchufe elacondicionador de aire antes de

usar elmismo.

GE no suministra servicio t6cnico para el
acondicionador de aire. Recomendamos

enk]ticamente que no intente reparar el
acondicionador de aire usted mismo.

Todoslos acondicionadores de airecontienen

refrigerantes,los cualesdeacuerdo con la ley
federal sedeben quitar antesde deshacerse

antigua con refrigerantes,consulte a la

Si el recept6culo no coincide con el enchufe, el
cambio del mismo deber6 ser realizado par un

C()MO CONECTARLA ELECTRIClDAD

Nunca, bajo ninguna circunstancia, corte 0 elimine

el tercer cable (tierra) del cable de corriente. Para
su seguridad personal, este electrodom6stico debe

estar adecuadamente conectado a tierra.

NO use un enchufe adaptador con este
electrodom6stico.

Elcable de corriente de este electrodom6stico
contiene un enchufe de 3 cables (conexi6n a tierra)
que se conecta a un tomacorriente de pared

esthndar de 3 cables (conexi6n a tierra) para

minimizar la posibilidad de riesgos de descargas
el6ctricas par parte del mismo.

Elcable de corriente incluye un interruptor de
corriente. Se brinda un bot6n de evaluaci6n y

reinicio en la caja del enchufe. El dispositivo deber6
ser evaluado en forma peri6dica, presionando

primero el bot6n TEST(Evaluar) y luego RESET
(Reinicio) mientras se encuentre enchufado al

tomacorriente. Siel bot6n TEST (Evaluar) no se
activa o el bot6n RESET(Reinicio) no permanece en

su posici6n, deje de usar el acondicionador de aire y

comuniquese con un t6cnico calificado del servicio.

Contrate a un electricista calificado para que
controle el tomacorriente y el circuito el6ctrico
para asegurar que el enchufe est6 correctamente

conectado a tierra.
En caso de contar con un tomacorriente de pared

de 2 cables, es su responsabilidad y obligaci6n
reemplazarlo par un tomacorriente de pared de 3

cables correctamente conectado a tierra.

Elacondicionador deaire deberia estar siempre
conectado a un enchufe especificocon un indicede

voltaje equivalente al que figura en su etiqueta de

caracteristicast6cnicas.
Estogarantiza el mejor funcionamiento y ademhs

previenela sobrecarga de loscircuitos delhogar,Io
cual podria ocasionar riesgosde incendio debido al

recalentamiento de cables.

Cool (Frio)
o si se cambia de un ajuste de ventilador a uno

de Cool (Frio),puede que pasen aproximadamente
unos 3 minutos hasta que el compresor arranque y

comience el enfriamiento.

resulta en variaciones mayores enla temperatura
de la habitaci6n yen la humedad. Normalmente
usado cuando la habitaci6n no est6ocupada.

Modo de Fan Only (Solo ventilador)

Use FanOnly Mode(Modo de S61oVentilador) en

NOTA:puede que el ventilador siga funcionando
durante un corto tiempo despu6s de desactivarse el
ciclo del compresor.

OFF(APAGADO)--EIventilador funciona todo el

tiempo, mientras que el compresor pasa por los

ciclosdeencendido y apagado.

Apague el acondicionador de aire y retire el enchufe
del tomacorriente antes de limpiar.

Filtro de Aire

Elfiltro de aire que seencuentra detr6s de la rejilla

d[as o con una frecuencia mayor, si fuera necesario.

Abra la rejilla deentrada empujando hacia abajo
las leng(Jetasen lasesquinas superiores dela rejilla
de entrada, hasta que la rejillaseencuentre en una
posici6n de 45°. Retireelfiltro.

Limpieelfiltro con agua calienteyjab6n. Enjuaguey
deje secar el filtro antes desu reemplazo.No limpie el
filtro en un lavavajillas.

Para limpiar, useagua y un detergente suave.No use
blanqueadores niabrasivos.

Retirela tapa de las pilas,girando la misma de

acuerdo con la direcci6n de laflecha. Sepuede

usaruna moneda para girar la tapa.

Insertelaspilas nuevas,asegur6ndose de que

[] Marque el centro de la ventana. Coloque

el acondicionador de aire en la ventana de

modo que se encuentre centrado. Coloque
el acondicionador de aire de modo que el
extremo frontal del riel de montaje inferior

se encuentre contra el extremo trasero del
