Setting up an IP camera
There are two ways of setting up an IP camera to work with ZNS:
One is to let the software find the cameras automatically and two is to manually input all the camera’s IP information.
Auto discovery of known IP cameras
1. ZNS can scan the network it is attached to and Auto discover any IP device and or cameras that are compatible.
2. To launch the Auto discover function, select the ZNS Wizards icon, and then select “Automatically discover network
video devices and connect them to the server”.
3. Once the Automatic Camera Discovery Wizard launches.
a. Click “Next”
4. ZNS can scan the existing physical network cards, or a specific IP address range.
a. Click “Next”
5. ZNS can scan the default ports of 80, and 8080, or specified port numbers.
a. Click “Next”
6. ZNS can accept the default user ID’s, or any specified user ID’s.
a. Click “Next”
7. The auto discovery wizard will scan the designated network, and or IP range, listing any found IP devices.
a. Check any found IP devices that need to be added to ZNS for recording
b. Click on “Next”
8. The auto discovery wizard will list all the configured cameras found and added to ZNS for confirmation.
a. Click on “Next”
9. The auto discovery wizard will present a summary of actions taken.

Auto discovery of unknown IP cameras
1. ZNS cannot always determine the make and model of a discovered IP camera, and or device. When ZNS cannot identify
an IP device or camera, it will require the properties to be manually entered.
2. The Auto discovery Wizard will list any unknown IP devices.
a. High light the unknown device.
b. Click “Properties”
3. The Auto discovery device properties dialog box will appear.
a. Click on the “Model” tab
b. Select the manufacture from the vendor list
c. Select the camera model from the model list
4. Click on the “Channel” tab
a. Confirm the number of video channels
b. Enter a name for the camera
c. Click “Add” and then “Apply”
5. Once the unknown camera has been identified, it will be listed accordingly.
6. Refer back to the steps outlined in the “Auto discovery of known IP cameras” to complete the wizard.
