Overview
The antenna radiator may rotate faster than its rated speed by strong winds, depending on the
ship’s construction or mounting locat ion. This can cause the moto r to burn. To solve this problem,
install the brake unit to prevent antenna overlotation. The BRU-001 is for the 24 rpm antenna uni t,
and BRU-002 is for the 42 rpm antenna unit.

1.How to mount the Brake Unit
Mounting consideration
• This unit has two fans to keep it cool. Leave sufficient room around the fans. For the console
type, mount the brake unit outside the console.
• If a diode is connected to TB804 inside the antenna unit, detach it as shown below, before
mounting the brake unit.

2.How to mount BRC Board (BR UK-001/002 only)
If your radar was produced in January 2009 or before, its processor unit does not have the BRC
Board. Install the BRC Board assy. (suppl ied with the BRUK-001/002) as shown in the procedur es
below.
1. Open the radar processor unit referring to the installat ion manual of radar.
2. Fasten the BRC Board (03P9485, supplied with the kit) to the TB Board (03P9342) as shown
below.

3.How to wire
Use the DPYC-1.5 cable (JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) type, local supply) to connect the
brake unit to the radar processor unit. (For the FAR/FCR-2827W, the same cable is also necessary to connect between the transceiver unit and the brake unit .)
Note: The brake unit kit BRUK-001/ 002 con tains the cabl e assy. VV-SB 1.25 x2C of 10 m. When
the distance between the brake unit an d the processor unit is over 10 m, use the DPYC-1. 5 cable
instead of it. For VV-SB 1.25x2C, “armor” in the procedures shown bel ow should be read a s “vinyl
sheath”.
(1) Fabrication at the processor unit side
1. Cut the armor by 200 mm.
2. Cut the vinyl sheath by 195 mm.
3. Remove the insulation from wires by
6 mm.
4. Peel the paint from the armor by 40
mm.
5. Cover the end of the armor with vinyl
tape.
(2) Fabrication at the brake unit side
1. Cut the armor of the cable by 70 mm.
2. Cut the vinyl sheath by 65 mm.
3. Remove the insulation from wires by 6 mm.
4. Peel the paint from the armor by 40 mm.
5. Cover the end of the armor with vinyl tape.
