Notice of an Upgrade Service for the FinePix S3 Pro/S2 Pro

The problem described below may arise if the FinePix S3 Pro/S2 Pro is used with the new Nikon AF-S
DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200 mm f/3.5 - 5.6G IF-ED lens. Regarding this problem, an implementation for
providing compatibility through a version upgrade of the camera’s firmware (firmware update by Repairs
Department) will be announced on March 16 on our Japanese website and the FUJIFILM WORLDWIDE
website.
Since there are users who will view the Nikon homepage as this problem occurs with their lens,
information will also be available on the Nikon homepage for this problem, and we will ask them to make
an announcement on the same day to link to our website.

■Problem
When the zoom is set to the wide-angle position, and you attempt to focus using AF (Auto Focus)
when the distance scale is set to infinity (∞), the camera may (only very occasionally) fail to focus on
close-up subjects.
This problem is due to a partial incompatibility in AF control at short distances between the Nikon
AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200 mm f/3.5 - 5.6G IF-ED lens and the FinePix S3 Pro and S2 Pro.

Further, we will receive requests within Japan for upgrades through our website. However,
information announced will be geared to users who made their purchase within Japan and are making
their request within Japan.

Outline of announcement

■The problem only occurs when using the camera with a Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom­Nikkor 18-200 mm f/3.5 - 5.6G IF-ED lens.

■The upgrade cannot be implemented with the lens and requires a change to the camera’s

firmware.

■There is no problem with the camera. Only a version upgrade of the camera’s firmware

is required to provide compatibility with the new lens.
