Eastern Attachments Limited are class leading manufacturers and suppliers of agricultural and construction loader
attachments including tipping skips, bucket sweeper collectors and forklift material handling equipment.
In addition, the company offer highly skilled fabrication services. Formed in 1996 by four brothers, the business has
always had build quality and value for money at its core. To achieve these high standards, innovation is central to the
whole process from design to production, staying one step ahead in terms of new production techniques and advanced
materials. The company has grown to become one of the UK’s largest attachment manufacturers, supplying companies
such as JCB. Its purpose built production facility utilises some of the world’s most advanced technologies.

REQUIREMENT
All attachments, whether it be buckets, grabs, forks or tipping skips, need to be
produced to the highest quality – including the welding seams. With increasing
order quantities, Eastern Attachments needed to expand production. The
requirement was for faster welding speeds without sacrificing the quality of the
welds. This meant adding to the company’s collection of power sources as well
as replacing some of the existing welding machines to more efficient systems
capable of increasing welding speeds, whilst reducing time spent re-working.

Daniel Leslie, Director of Eastern Attachments was also looking to increase the
capacity of weld data monitoring in the facility. The standard data logging capability
of the TPS/i platform means that important parameters are continually and
individually logged for every weld, ensuring welding procedure specifications
(WPS) are adhered to, such as kJ used per weld. Another important requirement
when choosing to invest, was guaranteed ongoing support post purchase.

SOLUTION
The Fronius TPS/i MIG/MAG power source platform proved popular at the
Eastern Attachments production facility with the welding division particularly
impressed by the clean weld seams and significant time savings due to virtually
zero spatter. Coupled to that, PMC (Pulse Multi Control) was the process of choice
during the trial phase due to its penetration stabilising feature. Another key
benefit that drew the welding team to the Fronius TPS/i was the ability to expand
the range of features in the future, such as additional synergic lines that may be
required later in time - therefore future-proofing their investment. The firm have
invested in twelve Fronius TPS 500i welding machines to help it increase its
weld quality whilst reducing production times, therefore expanding production
to fulfil a rising demand. Eastern Attachments also have the piece of mind of
receiving ongoing technical support provided by its local QFD Miganglia and the
Fronius UK team.
