If you are using Power over Ethernet (PoE), ensure that
the cable is connected to an appropriate port on your

FortiGate device or PoE injector.

Optionally, connect your device to a power outlet using
the optional power adapter.

Caution: Adequate grounding must be

provided to the FortiAP unit & the PoE injector,
in compliance with your local electrical code or

regulations.

Warning: This device supports 802.3af or 802.3at

(PoE) specification; it accepts power as a Powered
Device (PD) from a Power Sourcing Equipment
(PSE) such as a PoE injector. Do not use any PoE
injectors that are not 802.3af or 802.3at compliant
as they may damage your device.

1. Connect to the Internet by connecting a

FortiAP Ethernet port (WAN port on models

with WAN) to a router.

2. Visit http://www.forticloud.com to sign in or

create a new account.

3. Click “Add Device”. Enter the unique FortiCloud

key located on your FortiAP device, then select

“Submit”.

4. Deploy the FortiAP to an existing AP network or
create one, then select “Submit”.

5. Associate the FortiAP device to an SSID.

If your FortiGate is not on the same network

as your FortiAP:

a. Connect to the FortiAP via the CLI using the

instructions in the Connecting to FortiAP CLI
section of the Deploying Wireless Networks

Guide.

b. Specify the IP address of the controlling

FortiGate:

cfg-a AC_IPADDR_1=0.0.0.0
cfg-c

where 0.0.0.0 is the address of the
FortiGate.
c. Restart the FortiAP by disconnecting &

reconnecting the power. It will attempt to

connect to the configured IP.

1. Connect your FortiAP to a FortiGate with an

Ethernet cable.

2. Navigate to WiFi Controller > WiFi Network >

FortiAP Profiles & create a profile with the SSIDs

you want to include.

3. Navigate to WiFi Controller > Managed Access

Points > Managed FortiAPs. Select the AP,

authorize it, & assign a profile to the device.

Note: When deploying the FortiAP through a
FortiGate, there must be a routable path between the
FortiAP and the FortiGate, and ports 5246 and 5247
must be open.
