Safety rules
Use a double insulated extension
lead. Always check, before each
use, that both the electric lead and
the extension are not damaged. The
hedge trimmer must only be used if
the electric lead and the extension
are in good condition. Do not leave
the appliance unattended without
having removed the plug from the
electric socket. While cutting, be
careful not to damage the extension
lead; if this should happen, immedia-
tely remove the plug from the socket.
Remember that after switching off
the appliance the blades continue to
move for a few seconds.
Do not use the hedge trimmer in the
rain or in extremely damp conditions.
Those under 16 years of age must not
use the appliance.
The hedge trimmer must be kept out
of the reach of children.
While the hedge trimmer is working,
keep people and animals away.

Starting up
Before switching on, it is a good idea
to oil the blades.
Connect the extension lead to the
hedge trimmer using the pull out
cable stop, only when you reach
where you will be working. To start up,
pull one of the trigger switches under
the rear grip and the lever switch inserted into the front grip (Fig. 1).
As soon as the trigger switch or the front
handgrip is released, the motor will stop
automatically.

I
Maintenance, long periods of disuse and repairs
Before carrying out any intervention
on the appliance, always remove the
plug from the electric socket.
Clean the hedge trimmer after each
use and lubricate the blades with a
thin layer of oil (Fig. 2). Should oil or
grease come into contact with the
plastic parts, clean them at once with
a dry cloth, do not use solvents or
other liquids.
Check that the leads are not deteriorated and store them together with
the hedge trimmer in a dry place.
Do not dissemble any part of the
hedge trimmer; if repairs are necessary, take it to a repair shop authori-
sed by the manufacturers.
If it is necessary to replace parts, insist
on original spare parts.

Useful advice
While trimming, always hold the hedge
trimmer tightly with both hands so that
the blades are away from the body.
Always hold the hedge trimmer in front
you. Pass the extension lead over your
shoulder, making sure you keep it in
this position during trimming. Keep the
blades sideways on with respect to the
direction of growth of the branches
(Fig. 3). It is advisable to start cutting
the hedge from the bottom, working
up to the top. This guarantees foliage
uniformity over time, giving the hedge
Fig. 3
a wider shape at the bottom than at
the top.
Electrical safety
Voltage
Make sure that your electricity supply
voltage corresponds to that written on
the hedge trimmer’s motor plate.
Current
The hedge trimmer will only work with
alternating current.
Plugs/extension leads
We strongly advise the use of protected sockets, leads and plugs in
PVC or approved rubber.
Power socket
The appliance must be connected to
a power socket of adequate power
and not a light socket.
WARNING: The contents of this manual
do not exclude the user from the safety
and correct usage warnings.
Obsolete products and environment
If one day you should decide that your product must be replaced or that you
don’t need it any more, respect the environment. Your local supplier will take
back your old products and will dispose of them safely to protect the environment.

Safety regulations
WARNING: switch off and remove
the plug from the electric socket
before fixing, cleaning or disentangling the lead.
Use a highly insulated extension
lead that complies with the regulations in force.
Make sure, before each start up,
that the extension lead is out of the
cutting area.
Wear close fitting clothes and
protective clothing, outdoor rubber
gloves and rubber footwear are
recommended. Always wear suitable
protection for the eyes, such as protective goggles.
NEVER bring the hedge trimmer
near to the body or clothes when
you switch it on or when it is working.
Before switching it on, make sure that
nothing comes into contact with the
blades.
To protect your legs, wear long trousers, making sure that you have both
feet placed firmly on the ground and
that you are not unbalanced.
DO NOT leave the appliance unattended when it is connected to the
power supply.
NEVER use electrical appliances
when you are tired or under the
effects of medicine, alcohol or other
drugs.
Always keep the hedge trimmer out
of the reach of children. Anybody present while you are working must be
kept at a safe distance.
Always follow local safety rules and
relative regulations.
DO NOT use the hedge trimmer in
potentially explosive environments: it
is a good idea for the operator to
always have with him a suitable first
aid kit.
NEVER use the lead to carry the
appliance or pull on the lead to separate the connections. Keep the lead
away from sources of heat, oil and
sharp edges.
Before use always check that both
the electric lead and the extension do
not have faulty insulation due to cuts
and worn places.
Immediately replace a damaged
lead.
Always use your appliance as indicated in this manual. This appliance
is designed to be used in an upright
position and if it is used in any other
way, it may cause an accident.
Those who are not familiar with this
type of appliance or who have not
read this manual must not use your
appliance.
DO NOT use solvents or cleaning
agents to clean your appliance. Use a
blunt scraper to remove dirt.
Always disconnect from the power
supply before cleaning.
We would also recommend that
inexperienced users receive instruction on the correct safe use of hedge
trimmers before use.
To ensure maximum safety and long
life of the product, only use original
accessories and spare parts.
