This bulletin is to inform you that the brake pad retaining clips shown below have
been modified in order to help improve the
noise dampening characteristics on the
pads inside the brake callipers.
Fig. 1 shows the difference
between the clips. The new clip is
mounted on the calliper while the old
version is shown next to it on the right.
The new clip is part of the
“Complete Front Pads with Spring” kit,
Part No. 70000976 and was introduced into production as of Assembly No.

Subject: Bosch Motronic Electronic Control Unit (ECU) - Service Campaign 103
This technical information bulletin addresses erroneous Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)
“ON” cases in certain 360 U.S versions vehicles. The particular Bosch Motronic ECU was
fitted in the 360 vehicle Model Year 2002 with the following part numbers:
• Part No. 186394 - Mechanical gearbox version,
• Part No. 190768 - F1 gearbox Version
A fix has been implemented by introducing of a new software package which monitors the
Secondary air system efficiency starting with the Model Year 2003 version. The ECUs with
the upgraded software have the following part numbers:
• Part No. 197914 - Mechanical gearbox version
• Part No. 197913 - F1 gearbox Version.
Note: The new ECUs are interchangeable with Model Year 2002 version ECUs. However,
the new ECUs are not interchangeable with Model Year 2001 or earlier ECUs.
To ensure an operational system with no erroneous signals, all Model Year 2002 vehicles
and the early Model Year 2003 vehicles by re-flashing the Bosch Motronic ECU’S (see
attached list for vehicles involved).

Manual gearbox version – INST0169_10000.exe
• Time ............................................................................................................... 0.5 hrs.
We would like to remind you that it is extremely important that every upgraded ECU
is marked with a special sticker as shown in the photo (Fig. 1). Place the new sticker
on top of the existing sticker. In addition to the ECU stickers that must be attached
to each ECU, we will also send a sticker which must be placed in the center of the
engine compartment cover as shown in Fig.2. Make sure to print your Dealer code
and the repair date on the engine compartment sticker.
You will be sent enough stickers to complete 10 cars, if additional stickers are
required, please contact the Warranty dept. at 201-816-2659.

Description of Emission Related Component: On-Board Diagnostic system for
Secondary Air Injection system monitor.
Description of Repairs: The OBD IIsystem can inappropriately and randomly detect a
malfunction of the secondary air injection system which results in a corresponding fault code
stored in the ECU memory which will cause the MIL to illuminate. In order to solve this
problem, we are providing the necessary updated software for the specific secondary air
injection system diagnostics. Two checks per driving cycle are always carried out (only if
certain conditions are encountered). This re-flash of the ECUs avoids a false detection in
the secondary air system.
The OBD II system works as designed by detecting all faults. This software upgrade
addresses the parameter used to correct the cause of the false MILs. All vehicles comply
with all applicable emissions standards
