When using the hand held trimmer basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury. Carefully read and understand the entire owner’s manual before using your hand held trimmer. Pay close attention to the Operating Instructions and Safety

1.Do NOT leave the hand held trimmer with battery in. Remove battery pack when not in use, changing blades or servicing.

2.Avoid dangerous environments.

Never operate your unit in damp or wet conditions. Moisture is a shock hazard.

3.Do NOT use the hand held trimmer in the rain.

4.Do NOT handle the unit with wet hands.

5.Use the right tool for the right job. Use the unit only as described in this manual. Do NOT use for any job except that for which it is intended.

6.Don’t overreach – Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

7.Keep hair, loose clothing, dangling jewelry, fingers and parts of the body away from openings and moving parts.

8.Do NOT allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.

9.Risk of injury. Moving blades will cause harm. Keep hands away from moving parts while in use.

10.Do NOT attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when the blades are moving.

Make sure the battery is removed from unit when clearing jammed

material from blades. Do NOT grasp the exposed cutting blades or cutting edges when picking up or holding the unit.

11.Before each use, inspect your unit thoroughly for loose or damaged parts. Do NOT use until adjustments or repairs have been made.

12.Store unit indoors, with battery pack removed.

13.Check damaged parts – Before further use of the unit, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service center unless indicated elsewhere in this manual.

14.A battery operated tool with integral batteries or a separate battery pack must be recharged only with the specified charger for the battery. A charger that may be suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when unused with another battery.

15.Always disconnect battery pack from unit before making any adjustments, changing blades or storing the unit. Such preventive measures reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

16.When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects such as paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, etc. that can make a connection from one terminal to the other. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause sparks, burns or a fire.

17.Use the unit in daylight or good artificial light.

WARNING: The operation of the hand held trimmer can result in foreign objects being thrown in the eyes. This can lead to severe eye damage. Before commencing power tool operation always wear safety glasses or goggles that are marked as meeting ANSI Z87.1 standards and a full face shield when needed.

After each use, remove the battery pack and any build up of grass or debris from the blade area.

Remove and clean the protective guard cover as described on page 5.

Clean dust and debris from the charger and the hand held trimmer. Keep unit handles clean, dry and free of oil or grease. Use only a dry lint free cloth to clean the unit, battery pack and charger since certain cleaning agents and solvents are harmful to plastics and other insulated parts. Some of these include gasoline, turpentine, lacquer thinner, paint thinner, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia and household detergents containing ammonia.

Never use flammable or combustible solvents around unit. Never immerse hand held trimmer, battery pack or charger in water or any other liquid.

Battery Pack Removal and Disposal

A battery pack that is stored for six (6) months without being used will discharge itself. Batteries discharge at a rate of about 1% per day. Charge the battery every six months even if it is unused to maximize battery life. Do not tape the trigger in the “ON” position and leave the tool unattended as this may discharge the battery to a point where it will no longer be able to recharge.

Store your battery pack in a cool, dry place. Do not store it in a place where the temperature will exceed 120°F (50°C) such as a vehicle or metal building during the summer. High temperatures will overheat the battery pack, reducing battery life. If it is stored for several months, the battery pack will gradually lose its charge. One (1) to three (3) cycles of charging and discharging through normal use will restore the capacity of the battery pack. During the life of the battery pack the operating time between charges becomes shorter. If the operating time becomes extremely short after a proper charge, the usable life of the battery has been reached and it should be replaced.

Do not attempt to disassemble the battery pack or remove any of its components. Also, never touch both terminals with metal objects and/or body parts, as short circuit can result. Failure to comply with these warnings could result in fire and/or serious injury.

To reduce the risk of explosion, NEVER burn a battery pack even if it is damaged, dead or completely discharged.

This product contains nickel-cadmium battery. Must be disposed of properly. Local, state, or federal laws may prohibit disposal of Nickel-Cadmium batteries in ordinary trash. Please consult your

Yellow Pages or local recycling center for more information.
