Thank you for purchasing the Exo Terra® Terrarium Fixture. The Exo
Terra® Terrarium Fixture is designed to accommodate incandescent
bulbs. Please read this operation manual carefully before use and
operate according to the instructions provided for maximum safety
and performance. We recommend that you keep this manual handy
for future reference.

Introduction

The Exo Terra® Terrarium Fixture adds a whole new level to
incandescent terrarium lighting. Stylish design, safety and ease
of use were emphasized during the creation of this state-of-the­art fixture. Simply stick the self-adhesive support-bracket to the
terrarium glass and the fixture is ready-for-use. The adjustable
bracket allows you to swing the fixture from left to right to direct the
basking beam to the preferred basking area in your terrarium. You
can also move the fixture up or down to adjust the distance between
the basking spot and your pet reptile in order to regulate the basking
temperature. With its modern looks, the Exo Terra® Terrarium Fixture
integrates easily into any living space.

IMPORTANT SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS

WARNING - This appliance is NOT waterproof and MUST be
protected from coming in contact with water.

WARNING - Disconnect the plug of the light unit, and any other
electrical equipment, used for the terrarium, paludarium or aqua­terrarium before placing your hands in the water; and/or performing
any maintenance of any kind. Do not handle plug or appliance with
wet hands.

WARNING - Whenever installing, removing, changing or maintaining
bulbs always ensure that the device is unplugged.

WARNING - To guard against injury, basic safety precautions should
be observed when handling the Exo Terra® Terrarium Fixture,
including the following:

1. READ AND FOLLOW ALL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

and all important notices on the appliance before using. Failure

to do so may result in damage to the unit.

2. Always unplug an appliance from an outlet when not in use,

before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning. Never
yank cord to pull plug from outlet. Grasp the plug and pull
to disconnect.

3. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including

children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities,
or lack of experience or knowledge, unless they have been
given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance
by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be
supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

4. To avoid injury, do not contact hot parts, allow to cool down

before handling.

5. Do not use the appliance for other than intended use. The use

of attachments not recommended or sold by the appliance
manufacturer may cause an unsafe condition.

6. Do not install or store the appliance where it will be exposed to

weather or to temperatures below freezing.

7. The safety of this appliance is guaranteed only provided that the

light unit is properly installed. Ensure that the Terrarium Fixture is
securely attached to the terrarium glass.

8. Damaged bulbs or bulbs that do not function properly have to be

removed immediately.

9. Provide sufficient ventilation. Never cover the bulb or vent.

10. CAUTION: Hot surfaces. Avoid contact while fixture is

in operation.

11. CAUTION: Keep the Terrarium Fixture away from curtains and

other flammable objects when in operation. Never install the
fixture near flammable objects.

12. The housing of this fixture may only be opened by authorized

personnel or by the manufacturer.

13. Switch off the lamp and allow to cool for 10 minutes before

performing any maintenance of any kind, cleaning or re-lamping,
in the terrarium.

14. A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting

from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. If
an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a proper rating
should be used. A cord rated for less amperes or watts than the
appliance rating may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange
the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.

15. DANGER – To avoid possible electrical shock, special care

should be taken. For each of the following situations, do not
attempt repairs yourself; return the appliance to an authorized
service facility for service or discard the appliance:

A. If the appliance falls into the water, DON’T reach for it! First

unplug it and then retrieve it. If the electrical components of the
appliance get wet, unplug the appliance immediately.

B. Carefully examine the appliance after installation. It should not

be plugged in if there is water on parts not intended to be wet.

C. Do not operate any appliance if it has a damaged electrical cord

or plug, or if it is malfunctioning or if it is dropped or damaged
in any manner. The power cord of this appliance cannot be
replaced: if the cord is damaged, the appliance should be
discarded. Never cut the cord.

D. To avoid the possibility of the appliance plug

or electrical outlet getting wet, position the
appliance to one side of a wall mounted outlet
to prevent water from dripping onto the outlet
or plug. A “drip-loop” should be arranged. The
“drip-loop” is that part of the cord below the
level of the unit and the outlet, or the connector
if an extension cord is used, to prevent water
from traveling along the cord and coming in
contact with the outlet or light unit. If the plug
or outlet does get wet, DON’T unplug the
electrical cord. Disconnect the fuse or circuit breaker that
supplies power to the appliance, then unplug and examine for
presence of water in the outlet.

• This equipment is FOR INDOOR HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. Not for
commercial use.

• Warning: Disconnect the plug of this light unit, and any other
electrical equipment, used for the terrarium, paludarium or
aqua-terrarium before placing your hands in the water; and/or
performing any maintenance of any kind.

• Warning: Whenever installing, removing, or changing bulbs,
always ensure that the fixture is unplugged.

Only the dedicated observation of these installation, electrical and
maintenance guidelines will ensure the safe and efficient use of
this appliance.

INSTALLATION OF LIGHTING UNIT (p. 2)

1. Clean the outside surface of the terrarium glass

2. With the protective backing still intact, place the self-adhesive

support base on the back or the side of the terrarium to
determine its final position.

3. Mark the position with a wax pencil or other marker.

4. Lower the lamp to its lowest position, than remove the protective

backing and carefully fit the self-adhesive support base within
the marked area.

5. Make sure the tape is pressed evenly against the terrarium glass

and that no air bubbles are showing

6. Press the adhesive sides firmly against the glass panel for at

least 30 seconds and make sure the tape is attached firmly to
the terrarium before releasing the fixture.

7. Once in place, the Terrarium Fixture should not be removed.

8. Adjust the height and tighten the screw of the Terrarium Fixture

to suspend the fixture above the terrarium at the
desired height.

9. Ensure that the light’s focal point is not positioned above any

plastic parts of the terrarium or screen cover to prevent damage.

10. Screw light bulb into the Exo Terra® Terrarium Fixture (follow

maximum wattage guidelines).

Maintenance

No special maintenance is required for the Exo Terra® Terrarium
Fixture, other than periodic cleaning with a cloth (never use harsh
chemical products or detergents). To remove calcareous deposits
(bulb sockets), it is recommended to use a mild acid such as vinegar,
followed by a thorough wipe down with a damp cloth to remove
any residues.
TIP: apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to the threads on the base
of the light bulb before screwing it in. This will make it easier to
unscrew the bulb when it is time to replace it.

GUARANTEE

This product is guaranteed for defects in material or workmanship
for a period of 2 years from date of purchase. The guarantee is valid
with proof of purchase only. The guarantee is limited to repair or
replacement of the product only and does not cover consequential
loss or damage of or to animate or inanimate objects. The warranty
does not cover wear and tear parts. The warranty also does not
cover a product which has not been regularly and correctly cleaned
and maintained. This guarantee is valid only under normal operating
conditions for which the product is intended. It excludes any damage
caused by unreasonable use, improper installation, negligence,
tampering, or abuse of the product. The warranty does not cover
commercial use. Warranty does not include bulb. For guarantee
service contact your local pet retailer or write to the representative in
your country. This guarantee does not affect your statutory rights.

This item bears the selective sorting symbol for waste
electronic and electrical equipment (WEEE). This means
that the product must be handled pursuant to European
Directive 2002/96/EC in order to be recycled or

dismantled to minimize it’s impact on the environment.
For further information please contact your local or regional
Authorities. Electronic products not included in the selective sorting
process are potentially dangerous for the environment and human
health due to the presence of hazardous substances.

instance. Most problems can be resolved in store, but in the unlikely

event it cannot, please return the unit with a valid proof of purchase

Introduction

L’appareil d’éclairage à faisceaux Exo TerraMD pour lézarder ajoute
une toute nouvelle dimension à l’éclairage incandescent pour
terrariums. En effet, cet appareil ultramoderne a été conçu pour être
élégant, sécuritaire et facile à utiliser. Il suffit de fixer son support
de montage autoadhésif au verre du terrarium et il est prêt à utiliser.
De plus, le support réglable vous permet de faire bouger l’appareil
de gauche à droite afin de diriger les faisceaux à l’endroit que vous
souhaitez, à l’intérieur de votre terrarium. Vous pouvez également
faire bouger l’appareil de haut en bas afin de changer la distance
entre l’éclairage et votre reptile, et ainsi réguler la température
pour lézarder. Par ailleurs, comme le look de l’appareil d’éclairage à
faisceaux Exo TerraMD pour lézarder est contemporain, il s’harmonise
à tout décor intérieur.

IMPORTANTES

MISE EN GARDE – Cet appareil N’EST PAS étanche et DOIT être
protégé du contact avec l’eau.

MISE EN GARDE – Débrancher la fiche de l’appareil d’éclairage et
de tout appareil électrique utilisé pour le terrarium, le paludarium
ou l’aquaterrarium avant de se mettre les mains dans l’eau ou
d’effectuer tout entretien. Ne manipuler ni la fiche ni la lampe avec
les mains mouillées.

MISE EN GARDE – Toujours s’assurer que l’appareil est débranché
avant toute installation, tout changement ou tout entretien.

MISE EN GARDE – Pour éviter toute blessure, il faut, en manipulant
l’appareil d’éclairage Exo TerraMD, observer des précautions
élémentaires de sécurité, dont les suivantes :

1. LIRE ET RESPECTER TOUTES LES CONSIGNES DE

SÉCURITÉ et tous les avis importants sur l’appareil avant de

l’utiliser. Faute de quoi, il pourrait s’ensuivre des dommages
à l’appareil.

2. Toujours débrancher l’appareil lorsqu’il n’est pas utilisé, avant

d’ajouter ou de retirer des pièces, et avant d’en effectuer le
nettoyage. Ne jamais tirer sur le cordon d’alimentation pour
débrancher l’appareil. Prendre plutôt la fiche entre les doigts,
puis tirer.

3. Cet appareil ne doit pas être utilisé par des personnes (y compris

des enfants) aux capacités physiques, sensorielles ou mentales
réduites, ou qui manquent d’expérience et de connaissance,
à moins qu’elles soient placées sous la supervision d’une
personne responsable de leur sécurité ou qu’elles en aient reçu
les directives nécessaires à son utilisation. Toujours surveiller les
enfants pour les empêcher de jouer avec cet appareil.

4. Pour éviter toute blessure, ne toucher aucune pièce chaude;

attendre que celles-ci aient refroidi.

5. Ne pas se servir de l’appareil pour un usage autre que celui

prévu. L’emploi de fixations ni recommandées ni vendues
par le fabricant de l’appareil peut être source de situations
dangereuses.

6. Ne pas installer ni ranger l’appareil où il serait exposé à des

températures sous le point de congélation.

7. Cet appareil ne pose aucun danger dans la mesure où il est

correctement installé. S’assurer que l’appareil d’éclairage est
bien fixé au verre du terrarium.

8. Les ampoules endommagées ou qui ne fonctionnent pas

correctement doivent être immédiatement enlevées.

9. Fournir suffisamment de ventilation. Ne jamais couvrir l’ampoule

ni l’évent.

10. ATTENTION: Surfaces chaudes. Éviter tout contact avec

l’appareil pendant qu’il fonctionne.

11. ATTENTION: Garder l’appareil d’éclairage loin des rideaux et

d’autres objets inflammables quand il fonctionne. Ne jamais
installer l’appareil près d’objets inflammables.

12. Seuls le personnel autorisé ou le manufacturier sont autorisés à

ouvrir le boîtier de cet appareil.

13. Avant d’effectuer tout entretien à l’intérieur du terrarium,

débrancher la lampe.

14. Un court cordon d’alimentation est fourni pour réduire les risques

de trébuchement, qui surviennent habituellement avec un
long cordon. Si une rallonge électrique est nécessaire, vérifier
qu’elle est d’un calibre suffisant. Un cordon électrique de moins
d’ampères ou de watts que l’appareil peut surchauffer. Des
précautions doivent être prises afin d’éviter qu’on tire la rallonge
ou qu’on trébuche sur celle-ci.

15. DANGER - Pour éviter tout risque d’électrocution, une attention

spéciale est nécessaire. Dans chacune des situations suivantes,
ne pas essayer de réparer l’appareil soi-même; le retourner
plutôt à un service de réparations autorisé ou le jeter.

A. Si l’appareil tombe dans l’eau, NE PAS lui toucher. Il faut

d’abord le débrancher et ensuite le retirer. Si des pièces
électriques de l’appareil entrent en contact avec de l’eau,
débrancher immédiatement l’appareil.

B. Examiner attentivement l’appareil après l’installation. Il ne faut

pas le brancher si de l’eau se trouve sur des pièces qui ne
doivent pas être mouillées.

C. Ne pas faire fonctionner un appareil dont la fiche ou le cordon

est endommagé, qui ne fonctionne pas correctement ou qui
est tombé ou a été endommagé d’une manière quelconque. Le
cordon d’alimentation de l’appareil ne peut pas être remplacé;
s’il est endommagé, il faut jeter l’appareil. Ne jamais couper
le cordon.

D. Afin d’éviter que la fiche ou la prise de courant

de l’appareil se mouille, placer l’appareil à côté
d’une prise de courant murale et faire en sorte
que l’eau ne s’égoutte ni sur cette prise ni sur la
fiche. Il faut former une « boucle d’égouttement».
La « boucle d’égouttement » est la partie du
cordon qui se trouve sous la prise de courant,
ou le raccord si une rallonge est utilisée, et qui
empêche l’eau de glisser le long du cordon et
d’entrer en contact avec la prise de courant ou
l’appareil d’éclairage. Si la fiche ou la prise de courant sont
mouillées, NE PAS débrancher l’appareil. Mettre d’abord
hors circuit le fusible ou le disjoncteur qui fournit l’électricité
à l’appareil, puis le débrancher et vérifier qu’il n’y a pas d’eau
dans la prise.

• Ce matériel est conçu POUR USAGE DOMESTIQUE ET À

L’INTÉRIEUR SEULEMENT. Ne doit pas servir à un usage
commercial.

• Avertissement : Avant de se mettre les mains dans l’eau ou

d’effectuer tout entretien, débrancher la fiche de l’appareil
d’éclairage et de l’équipement électrique utilisés pour le terrarium,
le paludarium ou l’aquaterrarium.

• Mise en garde : Au moment d’installer, de retirer ou de changer
des ampoules, toujours s’assurer que l’appareil est débranché.

CONSERVER CES INSTRUCTIONS

Seule l’observation constante de ces directives d’installation,
d’électricité et d’entretien assurera l’emploi sûr et efficace de cet
appareil.

INSTALLATION DE L’APPAREIL D’ÉCLAIRAGE (p. 2)

1. Nettoyer la paroi extérieure du terrarium en verre.

2. Sans enlever la pellicule protectrice, déterminer l’endroit définitif,

à l’arrière ou sur le côté du terrarium, où sera installé le support
de l’appareil d’éclairage.

3. Marquer l’emplacement déterminé avec un crayon de cire

ou un marqueur.

4. Enlever la pellicule protectrice et fixer soigneusement la surface

autoadhésive du support à l’emplacement désigné.

5. S’assurer que le ruban adhésif est collé uniformément sur le

verre du terrarium et qu’il n’y a aucune bulle.

6. Appuyer fermement pendant au moins 30 secondes pour que le

ruban adhésif soit bien collé au panneau en verre.

7. Une fois l’appareil d’éclairage fixé, il ne doit pas être retiré.

8. Régler la hauteur et visser la vis du support de l’appareil

d’éclairage pour qu’il soit suspendu à la hauteur souhaitée.

9. Afin de ne pas endommager de pièces de plastique ou le

couvercle grillagé du terrarium, s’assurer que les faisceaux de
lumière ne convergent pas sur eux.

10. Visser l’ampoule à l’intérieur de l’appareil d’éclairage à faisceaux

pour lézarder (suivre les directives de puissance

maximale en watts).

Entretien

Aucun entretien spécial n’est requis pour cet appareil, excepté un
nettoyage périodique avec un linge (ne jamais utiliser ni produits
chimiques ni détergents corrosifs). Afin de faire disparaître les
dépôts calcaires (des douilles), il est conseillé d’utiliser un acide
doux tel que du vinaigre et de bien essuyer ensuite à l’aide d’un
linge humide pour enlever tout résidu.

CONSEIL : Appliquer une couche mince de vaseline sur le filetage
de la base de l’ampoule avant de la visser. Celle-ci sera ainsi facile à
dévisser lorsque viendra le temps de la remplacer.

GARANTIE

Ce produit est garanti contre tout défaut de matériaux et de
fabrication pour une période de deux ans, à partir de la date d’achat.
La garantie est valide uniquement avec une preuve d’achat. La
garantie est limitée à la réparation ou au remplacement de l’appareil
seulement et ne couvre pas les dommages à des êtres animés ou
inanimés ni leur perte consécutive. Elle ne couvre pas non plus
l’usure normale. La garantie n’est pas valide si l’appareil n’a pas
été régulièrement et adéquatement nettoyé et entretenu. Cette
garantie est valide seulement dans des conditions normales de
fonctionnement pour lesquelles l’appareil a été conçu. Cette garantie
exclut tout dommage causé par un usage excessif, une installation
incorrecte, la négligence ou la modification de l’appareil. Pour le
service sous garantie ou pour des pièces de rechange, contactez
votre détaillant d’animalerie locale ou écrire au représentant de
votre pays. Cette garantie ne porte pas atteinte à vos droits prévus
par la loi.
