SUMMARY:
If communications Error Codes #12, 14, 15,17,18 or 19 is displayed or the control panel
experiences a “lock-up” where manipulation of the buttons or knobs has no effect, check to
see if the terminating resistor is installed or damaged.
The Aristo Products use a serial communications protocol (CAN bus) to communicated
between system components. The ends of the CAN bus must be fitted with a “terminating
Resistor” to avoid communications interference. One end of the CAN bus is at the control
panel (MA-4, Ma-6, etc.) which has an internal terminating resistor. The other end, at the
power source, must be fitted with a terminating resistor as shown below.
OPERATIONAL IMPACT:
More stable communications between Power source, wire feeder and other components

ACTION:
Install the OEM terminating resistor (0459313880 or 0456680880) into any of the CAN bus
connectors on the power source. As an emergency solution connect a 120 ohm resistor
between pins K & L at the end of the CAN bus network (usually the power source) on an open
receptacle.
Terminating Resistor
could also ship as a black plastic connector
