Appleton now offers the most versatile line of control stations available worldwide: Unicode 2

Appleton’s Unicode 2 series of control stations offers new, signiﬁ cant beneﬁ ts. Its improved versatility leads the industry. It offers the ability to back box or cover mount devices including illuminated push buttons that employ a high-intensity single LED with a lifetime of 100,000 hours. The Unicode 2 series permits vast conﬁ gurability with fewer components, reducing your parts inventory. The bottom line: Appleton’s Unicode 2 Series is easier to install and maintain.

These new beneﬁ ts augment the Unicode 2 Series’ signiﬁ cant strengths and features. It has ATEX and IECEx certiﬁ cation, with cCSAus pending. It comes in four enclosure materials – polyester, stainless steel, aluminum and polyamide.

It offers extreme protection, with Ex de contacts – for component-level protection that doesn’t require external sealing – and housing materials that are weather and impact resistant.

FEATURES

• Employs Ex de contact blocks with push buttons, illuminated push buttons, selector switches, control and load break switches, and pilot lights (LED)

• Pilot light employs high-intensity single LED with a lifetime of 100,000 hours that can be used at: 12 Vac to 254 Vac 50/60 Hz 12 Vdc to 60 Vdc

• Enclosures are rated for IP66/NEMA 4X

• Operators and contact blocks are spaced for easy access and ample room for wiring

• Accomodates up to three contact blocks per actuator

• Wide selection of cable glands and threaded hub entries at top and bottom locations

• Rail-mounted components held securely in place during operation and easily removed for service

• Brass inserts are provided to positively secure DIN Rail or mounting plate to back box

• Captive, corrosion-resistant stainless steel cover screws

OPTIONS

• Lamacoid (with different color combinations) or stainless steel nameplate

• Padlocking guard capability for any position on selector switch

• Padlocking/guard capability for momentary and maintained push buttons

APPLICATIONS

• Local control stations and motor control stations suitable for use in the broadest possible range of applications

• Control of equipment at power plants, chemical and petrochemical plants, petroleum reﬁ neries, plants, pulp and paper processing plants and various industrial applications

• Push buttons and selector switches are used in conjunction with contactors or magnetic starters for remote control of motors in hazardous locations. They provide circuit control and/or selection
