Instructions for updating the Elonex 1012ET Version 2
The Elonex eTouch 1012ET Version 2 is capable of being updated to allowing the unit to be enhanced
with new functionality. These instructions outline how to update the device with the latest firmware
allowing for the inclusion of new functionality.
Downloading the Firmware Tools
Click the following link which will download the update from the Elonex support page

Alternatively go to the Elonex 1012ET Version 2 support page and choose the Firmware Download link.
This Firmware image is for the 1012ET Version 2 only and is not compatible with the eTouch 1012
Version 1. To confirm that you have a Version 2 device
At the home screen tap the App Draw button
Select Settings
Go to About
Scroll Down to Version
If the version is 2.2 it is a Generation 1 device please do not proceed any further instead please
go to the 1012ET section of the support page for further instructions
The Firmware will be in the form of a zip file, double click this which should automatically open it and
copy the contents to another location, such as your Desktop. The following files should be included:

Support.

Before you begin
Please ensure that the following
Your eTouch Tablet is at least 70% Charged
The USB PC Link cable is available
If using a Laptop it is plugged into a power outlet
Preparing your eTouch for Firmware updating
Before you can install the update the eTouch tablet needs to be put into the update mode
With the power unplugged from the tablet hold down the Menu Button
Whilst holding down the Menu button press the power button
Keep holding for 4 seconds then release both the power and menu buttons. The screen will
remain blank, do not worry this is normal.
Connect your eTouch tablet to your PC using the USB cable. On connection a drive should
appear labeled VDfu.
If the drive is labeled as anything other than VDfu then the unit is not in Update mode. Please
follow the instructions accompanying your tablet device to reset your eTouch and follow the
instructions above. If the eTouch does show Vdfu or will not go into Update mode please
contact Elonex support for further advice.
Your device is now ready to be updated.
Updating the 1012ET Version 2
To Update the Firmware of the eTouch 1012ET Version 2 please run the update program from the
location where you unzipped the firmware package by following the instructions below
Double Click MPTool.exe
IF on Windows Vista / Windows 7 click Yes if the User Account Control permissions dialog
appears
Click the Scan button the Flash tool will then search for a connected device
If found the following screen will appear

Click the Update button to commence the Firmware install
Do Not unplug , switch off or interrupt the update whilst in progress as shown by the progress
bar as doing so may render your eTouch damaged beyond repair
On successful completion the following message will appear
The Firmware upload is complete. The eTouch will restart automatically and final configuration
will continue on the eTouch device do not interrupt this process
At completion the eTouch will display the calibration screen. Complete calibration
The update is now complete
