General safety regulations
Generators store electrical energy in capacitors by applying high voltages. In case of connecting the Ringflash to a recommended power pack, these high voltages will be also applied to the flash tube. These form a source of danger, which must be carefully excluded. Besides general rules on handling electrical appliances, the following safety measures must be observed. Therefore read and comply with safety hints (also see paragraph Starting up) within the user manual before turning the appliance on.
Proper use
The Ringflash is designed for studio use. Out of doors it must be protected from rain, moisture and humidity.
It should only be connected to the appropriate Elinchrom power source.
Warning
Flashtubes generate high pressure during operation and can therefore explode. For this reason the flashtube is covered with a security glass. In case of a damaged flash-tube or a broken security glass the Ringflash must be immediately unplugged from the generator and sent to an authorized customer service.
• Opening the unit is dangerous and may expose high voltage cabling. All repairs
must be made only by qualified service departments. Any damage or corrosion to a connector or socket requires the unit to be serviced. Continued use is dangerous.
• Avoid using in inflammable situations or with inflammable materials. Explosion / fire
hazard.
• Never flash into the eyes of a subject without warning. Close use may affect
eyesight.
• When using in dusty surroundings please be aware that these units are not sealed.

Camera Positioning
1. Locking screw for vertical shift
2. Thread 1/4“ for mounting to a stand
3. Thread 3/8“ for mounting to a stand
4. Locking screw for horizontal shift
5. Handle
6. Screw 1/4“ 3/8“ for mounting the camera and left right shift of the camera
The Ringflash can be mounted to a stand by using one of the two threads [2] and [3], (1/4“ and 3/8“, respectively). The camera lens is to be led through the opening of the Ringflash and then correctly positioned and carefully fixed by using screw [6]. If a 3/8“ screw is required, the screw can be exchanged. For doing this, unscrew and reverse the screw [4] on both sides, remove the rail and insert the required screw. Then re-mount the rail by screwing both screws [4]. The Ringflash unit can be vertically and horizontally shifted within the slots for precise positioning of the camera by using screws [1] and [4], respectively. The ring flash unit can also be operated without a stand by holding the handgrip [5].

Starting-up
Maintenance
Ringflashes do only need very few maintenance by the user. The unit should be dry cleaned from dust from time to time. Before cleaning the Ringflash switch the power pack off before disconnecting.
Caution
Under no circumstances is any part of the equipment to be opened. The equipment is not user serviceable and there is dangerous high voltage. In the event of difficulty notify
your dealer.
Regular check
National safety regulations require frequent safety checks of the electrical equipment. Ringflashes should be checked once a year. This check not only guarantees safety, it
also protects the value of the unit.
Return to customer service
To achieve a maximum protection of the unit sending it in for service, the original packaging should be kept.
Safety hints for operation with Ringflashes
To avoid damage of the flash connectors please always switch off the power pack, before connecting or disconnecting the Ringflash or other Flashheads.
Caution
Ringflashes heat up during longer operation. To avoid injuries, handle with isolating cloth or wait till parts have cooled down.
Acclimatizing
When moving the Ringflash from one climatic zone to the next, the appliance should stand in the room, in which it will be operated, for some time before starting it up. This prevents internal shortcuts caused by eventually condensing water.
