IMPORTANT USER INFORMATION
It is important that you read these instructions carefully before using
the vacuum cleaner.
These warnings are provided in the interest of your safety.
WARNING
Use only as described in this manual. Use only Electrolux recommended attachments. Unplug before connecting hose.
Do not carry or drag your vacuum cleaner by the mains supply cable.
Always ensure that the mains supply cable and plug are not damaged in any way.
Do not pull the mains supply cable to remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
Keep the mains supply cable away from heat, oil, sharp edges and rough surfaces.
If the mains supply cable is damaged, it should be replaced by an Authorised Electrolux Service Agent or similarly qualified person in order to prevent a hazard.
It is dangerous to alter the specifications or modify the vacuum cleaner.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the vacuum cleaner.
Never leave the vacuum cleaner running unattended.
Never pick up hot ash, lighted cigarette ends or anything that is burning or smoking.
Do not vacuum up inflammable or combustible substances or use in areas where they may be present.
Do not immerse the vacuum cleaner in water or expose it to rain.
Do not handle the plug or the vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked. Keep free of dust, lint, hair and anything that may reduce air flow.
Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
Take extra care when vacuuming stairs.
Do not use extension cords or outlets with inadequate current carrying capacity.
Turn off all controls before unplugging.
When rewinding the mains supply cable, hold the mains plug until the cable is fully rewound.
Store the vacuum cleaner away from high heat sources.
All filters should be replaced or cleaned at regular intervals as stated in these operating instructions. Do not use without filters in place.
Do not use petroleum or mineral spirits to clean the vacuum cleaner. When cleaning the suction hose or accessories, use a soft cloth and warm soapy water.
We recommend you do not use your vacuum cleaner on carpet cleaning foams, sharp or heavy building materials or plaster dust. They could damage or clog the filters and cause failures in your vacuum cleaner and render the warranty void.
Unplug electrical appliances before vacuuming them.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to repair the vacuum cleaner yourself. Repairs undertaken by unauthorised or inexperienced persons may cause injury and/or serious malfunctioning of the appliance.
This vacuum cleaner should be serviced by authorised Electrolux personnel and only genuine Electrolux spare parts should be used. Failure to do so may render the warranty void.

OPERATING
INSTRUCTIONS
WARNING. Always disconnect your vacuum cleaner from the mains supply before maintaining and or assembling it.
Before you can start using your vacuum cleaner you must attach the hose (9) and accessories. Always remove the plug from the mains supply before fitting or removing accessories!
1 Insert the hose (9) into the suction inlet
(1) and push until it clicks into position. To remove the hose (9) press the two buttons on the end of the hose (9). See fig. 1.
2 Fit the telescopic tube (10) and which
ever other accessory is required to the hose (9). See fig. 2.
3 Press down on the release button on the
outer tube and slide the inner tube out to adjust the length of the telescopic tube (10). See fig. 3.
NOTE: The dual purpose floor nozzle (1 1) has two settings. Each can be selected by using the foot-operated switch on the left hand side of the nozzle. See fig.4.
(A) When cleaning hard floors, the
bristles should be in the extended position.
(B) When cleaning carpets, the bristles
should be in the retracted position.
4 The combination crevice nozzle/brush
(12) can be used for crevices, corners, baseboards and between cushions. See fig. 5.
5 The upholstery nozzle (13) is used for
upholstered furniture. See fig. 6.
7 Before switching your vacuum cleaner
on, unwind the cable and insert the plug into the wall socket. The yellow mark on the cable shows the ideal length. Don’t unwind the cable beyond the red mark. See fig. 7.

8 Press the on/off switch (5) to switch the
vacuum cleaner on. On initial start up, full power is reached after approximately 1-2 seconds. See fig. 8.
9 Adjust the suction power by rotating the
variable power control (3) or by sliding the suction control on the hose handle. See fig. 9.
10To rewind the cable, press the cable
rewind button (4) with one hand and guide the cable with the other hand to ensure that it does not whip which can cause damage or injury. See fig. 10.
11 Store the vacuum cleaner in the parking
position. An accessory clip is situated on the back of the machine and on the dual purpose floor nozzle (11). These can be used to park the floor tool. See fig. 11.
HOW TO CLEAN THE
DUST CONTAINER
NOTE: Before doing any type of cleaning or maintenance to the vacuum cleaner, remove the plug from the mains supply.
Always operate the vacuum cleaner with the dust container (7) installed. It is normal for the dust container indicator (2) to activate whilst using the cleaner, Therefore before you commence cleaning, turn the cleaner on without the tools attached, if the indicator remains activated then check the air inlet channel of the cleaner. If it is clogged clear it. See fig. 12. If the dust container indicator still remains activated after clearing check the cartridge filter (15).
Emptying the dust container: 1 Remove the dust container (7) from the
vacuum cleaner. See fig. 13.
2 Remove the filter set from the dust
container (7) by lifting the white lid off the dust container (7). See fig. 14.

3 Empty the contents of the dust container
(7). See fig. 15.
NOTE: The dust container (7) can be washed in warm water. A small amount of washing up liquid may be added. A brush may be used to remove stubborn dust. Rinse the dust container (7) thoroughly and remove the excess water with a dry cloth. Dry the dust container (7) thoroughly (24 hours is preferred) before refitting to the vacuum cleaner.
Never operate your vacuum cleaner without the dust container (7) fitted.
4 Put the filter set back into the dust
container (7). See fig. 14.
5 Put the dust container (7) back into the
vacuum cleaner. See fig. 13.
REPLACING/CLEANING THE FILTERS
Filters should be replaced at least twice a year or when they become visibly soiled.
Disconnect from the wall socket before cleaning/replacing the filters.
Always operate the vacuum cleaner with all the filters installed to avoid motor damage.
Cleaning the cartridge filter 1 Remove the dust container (7) from the
vacuum cleaner. See fig. 13.
2 Remove the filter set from the dust
container (7) by lifting the white lid off the dust container (7). See fig. 14.
3 Remove the cartridge filter (15) by
turning it counter-clockwise (A) and pull it out (B). See fig. 16.
4 Remove the protector mesh (16) from
the cartridge filter (15). See fig. 17.
5 Shake the dirt from the cartridge filter
(15) and the protector mesh (16) into a bin. See fig. 18.
6 If necessary the cartridge filter (15) and
protector mesh (16) can be rinsed, with cold water, under a tap. See fig. 19.
7 Air dry for approximately 24 hours, to
ensure they are completely dry before re­using. Avoid direct sunlight and extreme drying circumstances eg. hairdryer etc. See fig. 20.

GENERAL
TROUBLE SHOOTING No Power: If your vacuum cleaner does not
operate check the following:
The plug connection.
The electrical wall socket is
switched on. Loss of suction: If your vacuum cleaner
looses suction power, check the following:
Hose (7) and other accessories in use
are not blocked.
The filters are clean. Should the above mentioned checks not
solve the problem, please contact your nearest Authorised Electrolux Service Centre for advice.
AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF The motor is fitted with a thermal cut-out
switch which will automatically switch your vacuum cleaner off if it starts to overheat. If this does happen do the following:
Switch the vacuum cleaner off at the
on/off switch (5) and unplug the mains
supply cable.
Now leave your vacuum cleaner to cool
down for approximately 40 minutes.
During this time check if the hose (7),
accessories, air inlet channel (see fig. 12)
and filters are perhaps blocked as this
could have caused the machine to
overheat.
Once your vacuum cleaner has cooled
down, it will start again. If it does not
restart, contact your nearest Electrolux
Service Center
NOTE: If you wish to use your vacuum cleaner while the cartridge filter (15) is drying, you may use the extra cartridge filter (15) inserted in the packaging box.
8 Insert the protector mesh (16) into its
place by pushing it onto the cartridge filter (15). See fig. 17.
9 Put the cartridge filter (15) into its place
(B) and turn it clockwise (A). See fig. 16.
10Put the filter set back into the dust
container (7). See fig. 14.
11 Put the dust container (7) back into the
vacuum cleaner. See fig. 13. Cartridge filter reference no.: EL066. Cleaning the washable micro exhaust
filter 1 Open the filter grille to remove the exhaust
filter. See fig. 21
2 Remove the exhaust filter. See fig. 22.
3 Rinse it under tap water and allow it to
dry completely. See fig. 23.

WARRANTY
Electrolux South Africa (Pty) Ltd., (’Electrolux’) warrants to the original purchaser (’the Purchaser’) that the appliance identified on this booklet is free from defects in the material or workmanship under normal use and service subject to the following conditions:
1. This warranty, remains valid for a period of one year in respect of appliances used for domestic purposes only. Any Electrolux domestic appliance used in a commercial capacity will not be covered by the warranty.
2. The Purchaser shall refer the appliance for repair to any Electrolux branch or Electrolux authorized service agent and nowhere else. On referral for repair in accordance with the warranty as aforesaid Electrolux shall, at its opinion, if satisfied that the condition herein set out have been complied with, replace or repair the appliance without cost to the Purchaser.
3. The Purchaser shall use only genuine Electrolux accessories. Without limiting the generality of the aforegoing such accessories shall include dust bags, filters and drivebelts.
4. This warranty does not apply to light bulbs, external electrical connections,flex, and all other items where the length of life depends upon the use and care given. Without limiting the generality of the aforegoing such items shall include belts, filters, bristled brushes and bags fitted to polishers and vacuum cleaners.
5. This warranty shall only apply to appliances purchased in and retained for use in South Africa, Namibia, Lesotho, Botswana and Swaziland.
6. The Purchaser shall not remove the serial number of the appliance.
7. Electrolux undertakes that all goods supplied by it shall conform to the specifications of the same except insofar as these are necessarily modified by Electrolux from time to time. Electrolux does not warrant or give any representation of any nature in respect of any appliance supplied by it or the materials from which those appliances were made, or the workmanship in the making of those appliances or the fitness of those appliances for any particular purpose whether or not that purpose is known to Electrolux.
8. Electrolux shall not be responsible for any loss or damage of any nature whatsoever whether direct or indirect, consequential or otherwise, sustained as a result of any appliance being defective or not conforming to the description thereof, or as a result of improper use of the appliance (which, without limiting the generality thereof, shall include the use of incorrect voltage or faults in the house wiring, improper use of the controls and failure to use the appliance in accordance with the operating instructions), or as a result of any other cause whatsoever.
9. Abuse of the appliance by the purchaser will render this warranty invalid. Improper use of the appliance and failure to use the appliance or maintain the appliance in accordance with the relevant instructions will be considered as abuse.
10. The purchaser shall, when referring the appliance for warranty repair as aforesaid, produce the cash slip, hire purchase documents or invoice together with the instruction leaflet in which this warranty is contained.
11. Electrolux shall be entitled to charge the Purchaser for services rendered outside the warranty period or for any quotations given when fault is found, for any replacement parts supplied and which are not covered by the warranty.
12. The above conditions constitute separate and devisable resolutive conditions and failure of the Purchaser to observe each or any of the said conditions will render this warranty of no force and effect.
13. No understandings or representations, which are not in writing and accepted by Electrolux or specified in writing, are binding on it.
14. All implied warranties in respect of the appliance are expressly excluded.
