1. INTRODUCTION
This manual deals with the Zero Degree COMBI refrigerators produced in the Susegana factory (ZS).
It is a two-compressor combined appliance with PNCs: 925 703 xxx (KBI0280 DOD).
The cooler/zero degree and freezer compartments are independent; therefore it is possible to switch them on/off according to the necessity.
The appliance is equipped with the following compartments:
cooler and Zero Degree; freezer.
The evaporator circuit consists of:
battery evaporator (Zero Degree and cooler compartment); evaporating tower (freezer compartment).
The appliance is controlled by the ERF2050 electronic system for the power and ERF2000 for the display.
KEY:
A = cooler compartment; B = separator; C = Zero Degree compartment; D = freezer compartment.
A separator is placed between the refrigerator compartment and the Zero Degree compartment. This separator is contoured at the front (near the door) to allow air to flow between the compartments.
Unlike No Frost refrigerators, the Zero Degree refrigerator is equipped with a battery-type evaporator that does not have a heating element (for defrosting) or the relative thermal safety switches, since this evaporator is defrosted by a fan which operates when the compressor is off.

5 sensors detect the temperatures:
cooler sensor (placed near the fan); zero degree sensor (placed on the cell in the Zero Degree compartment, right-hand upper drawer); battery evaporator sensor (placed on the battery); freezer sensor (placed on the cell in the freezer compartment, right-hand upper drawer); room sensor (placed on the circuit board for the display).
KEY:
A = cooler sensor; B = Zero Degree sensor; C = battery evaporator sensor; D = freezer sensor.
The wires leading from sensors A, B, C and D are encapsulated in foam inside the cabinet. As a result, these sensors are not replaceable. The room sensor is part of the display board.

The cold produced by the battery-type evaporator, which is located (behind evaporator shield) in the Zero Degree compartment, is introduced first into the Zero Degree compartment and then into the refrigerator compartment by a fan located behind fan housing.
Air is drawn in by this fan (located at the top of the cell), flows through the ducts, and descends to reach the battery-type evaporator. The cold air leaves the bottom of the battery-type evaporator, strikes the two drawers in the Zero Degree compartment, and is pushed up through the space between the separator and the door to reach the refrigerator compartment.

NOTES:
1. Depending on the models, in place of the air filter there is a duct which contains a polyester isolating panel;
2. The 0 degree compartment drawers feature sliders for the “humidity control“ function:
slider closed to maintain humidity; slider open not to maintain humidity.
To ensure proper operation of the humidity control system, the covers must be installed on the drawers.

2. REFRIGERATING CIRCUIT
The battery evaporator is positioned in the Zero Degree compartment and it is available as spare part. The battery evaporator does not feature defrosting heaters or thermal cut-outs.
The tower-type evaporator of the freezer compartment is available as spare part.
Along the edges of the cabinet frame there is the anti-condensation coil.

4. OPERATION
The 0 DEGREE COMBI refrigerator, being a two-compressor operates with different modes depending if the 0 degree, refrigerator and freezer compartments requires cooling.
There is only one compressor for the cooler and 0 degree compartment; therefore there are 3 possible combinations of normal operation:
a. The Zero Degree compartment, only, requires cooling
b. Both the refrigerator compartment and the Zero Degree compartment require cooling
c. The refrigerator compartment, only, requires cooling
Furthermore, the following condition may occur:
d. The battery-type evaporator requires defrosting
The following special condition may also occur:
e. The balancing heater is activated
a. The Zero Degree compartment, only, requires cooling
If only the Zero Degree compartment requires cooling:
the compressor starts
the fan operates at LOW speed (about 1500 RPM) continuously.
b. Both the refrigerator compartment and the Zero Degree compartment require cooling
If both the refrigerator compartment and the Zero Degree compartment require cooling:
the compressor starts
the fan operates at HIGH speed (about 1900 rpm) continuously.
c. The refrigerator compartment, only, requires cooling
If only the refrigerator compartment requires cooling:
the compressor does not start
the fan operates at HIGH speed (about 1900 rpm) continuously.

d. Defrosting cycle on the battery-type evaporator
The ice that accumulates on the battery-type evaporator is regularly defrosted.
Defrosting takes place every time the compressor has operated for a sum total of 4 hours.
The defrosting cycle starts after the compressor shuts off.
During defrosting:
the compressor does not operate the fan operates continuously at HIGH speed the refrigerator compartment cools down the battery-type evaporator warms up
The defrosting cycle terminates when the evaporator sensor detects a temperature of +4°C.
The fan stops if the door is opened. To defeat the interlock switch on the door, place a magnet next to the reed element.
e. SUPERFROST Function
The SUPERFROOST function (rapid freezing) is switched on by activating the corresponding button:
the pilot lamp relative to the SUPERFROST function is displayed; SP appears on the display;  the compressor operates continuously for about 48 hours, then it switches off automatically.
To switch off the SUPERFROST function, before the expected end, press the relative button.
f. SUPERCOOL Function
The SUPERCOOL function (rapid cooling) is switched on by activating the corresponding button:
the pilot lamp relative to the SUPERCOOL function is displayed; the compressor operates in thermostatic conditions and not continuously (as if the temperature knob
were in max position to reach +2°C) for about 6 hours, then it switches off automatically;
To switch off the SUPERCOOL function, before the expected end, press the relative button.

g. Malfunctioning of cooler and 0 degree compartment temperature sensors
If during the normal operation a failure to NTC temperature sensor occurs (the signal coming from the sensor is out of range), then:
the appliance operates with a predefined cycle where the cooler compressor is switched on for 30
minutes and switched off for 40 minutes alternatively;
the display of the cooler compartment displays one of the following symbols:
Cooler air temperature sensor faulty.
Battery evaporator temperature sensor faulty.
Zero Degree temperature sensor faulty.
When the sensor operates normally again, the above described conditions terminate.
h. Malfunctioning of temperature sensor of freezer compartment
If during the normal operation a failure of one NTC temperature sensor occurs (the signal coming from the sensor is out of range), then:
the appliance operates with a predefined cycle where the freezer compressor is switched on for 40
minutes and switched off for 40 minutes alternatively;
the display of the freezer compartment shows one of the following symbols:
Freezer air temperature sensor faulty
When the sensor operates normally again, the above described conditions terminate.

j. Audible alarm
An audible alarm sounds when the door of the appliance remains open for more than 3 minutes.
The alarm shuts off when the door is closed.
If the door is opened back up, the audible alarm will sound again after 3 minutes.

10. VARIATION FOR MODELS WITH AIR FILTER
Depending on the model in question, a filter duct may be installed in place of the central duct:
a) central duct;
b) filter duct;
c) open the door and replace the activated charcoal filter at least once a year;
An activated charcoal filter is recommended for models equipped with an air filter.
