Electro Harmonix Soul Pog User manual

1
WARNING: Your Soul POG comes equipped with an Electro-Harmonix 9.6DC-200BI power supply (same as used by Boss® & Ibanez®: 9.6 Volts DC 200mA). The Soul POG requires 125mA at 9VDC with a center negative plug. Using the wrong adapter may damage your unit and void the warranty.
SOUL POG
Soul Food Overdrive +
Nano POG Polyphonic Octave Generator
The Soul Food delivers a wide range of sounds from sweet clean boosts for added volume, to just a touch of dirt for livening up your sound, to full-on overdrive. The Soul Food has plenty of volume on tap to push your amplifier into saturation, delivering distortion that is actually created by your amp! It can also do wonders when placed in front of other dirt pedals, pushing them into new worlds of distortion. Whatever your style or rig, the Soul Food gives your tone a lift in all the right places without compromising it.
The Nano POG can simultaneously generate multiple octaves from your input signal. Whether you play single notes, arpeggios, or full chords, the Nano POG will precisely track every note or chord that you play. With the Nano POG, you can mix together your dry signal with two different octaves (one above and one below your original note) to create totally new, inspiring tones.
SOUL FOOD CONTROLS
DRIVE Knob – Controls the amount of input gain. As you turn DRIVE clockwise, the
overdrive ranges from clean boost, in the fully counter-clockwise position, to classic distortion, in the fully clockwise setting. There are many great sounds found within the full range of the DRIVE knob, we recommend experimenting with different positions in both halves of the DRIVE knob to find just the right amount of grit for your needs. In addition, turning DRIVE clockwise will bring out more mids in your tone.
TREBLE Knob Acts as a tone control. When set to 12 o’clock (50%), the tone is neutral. As you turn TREBLE clockwise from the 12 o’clock setting, the treble gain increases making
your overall sound brighter. As you turn TREBLE counter-clockwise from the 12 o’clock setting, the high end is reduced giving you a bassier sound.
VOL Knob Sets the output level of the Soul Food section of the Soul POG. As VOL is turned clockwise, the output volume increases.

SOUL FOOD Footswitch and LED – The SOUL FOOD footswitch selects whether the Soul Food section is engaged or in bypass mode. When the Soul Food is engaged, its corresponding LED is lit. The Soul Food circuit in the Soul POG is always in buffered bypass.
NANO POG CONTROLS
DRY Knob – Controls the output volume of the DRY signal at the EFFECT OUT jack. The
DRY signal is the signal present at the INPUT jack. As this knob is turned clockwise, the volume of the DRY signal at the EFFECT OUT jack increases.
SUB OCTAVE Knob – Controls the output volume of the SUB OCTAVE signal. The SUB OCTAVE signal is one octave below the original input signal, or half the frequency. As this knob is rotated clockwise, the volume of the SUB OCTAVE signal increases.
OCTAVE UP Knob – Controls the output volume of the OCTAVE UP signal. The OCTAVE UP signal is one octave above the original input signal, or twice the frequency. The volume of the OCTAVE UP signal increases as this knob is rotated clockwise.
MODE Switch – The MODE switch changes how the UP OCTAVE responds to your playing. With the MODE LED off, this is the default Nano POG algorithm which is better for single-note runs and has lower latency. With the MODE LED on, the upper octave notes have enhanced harmonics and improved polyphonic capabilities.
POG Footswitch and LED – The POG footswitch selects whether the Nano POG is engaged or in buffered bypass. When the effect is engaged, its corresponding LED is lit.
EFFECT ORDER Switch – This toggle switch, located in the middle of the Soul POG, selects which effect is first in the signal chain. With the switch to the right, the signal chain is SF POG. With the switch to the left, the signal chain is POG SF.
INPUT Jack – This ¼” jack is the audio input for the Soul POG. The input impedance is 1M.
EFFECT OUT Jack – This ¼” jack is the audio output from the Soul POG. The output impedance ranges from 700 to 3.3k.
SEND Jack This ¼” jack can be used to put effects in the signal path between the Soul Food and Nano POG to expand its sonic capabilities. This output can also be used to split your signal to a separate effects chain or amplifier input.
RETURN Jack This ¼” jack must be used in conjunction with the SEND jack. Connect this jack to the output of the effect(s) in the loop.
DRY OUT Jack This ¼” jack outputs a buffered version of the input signal. The output impedance at this jack is 500 Ohm. Note: The DRY Knob does not control the volume at the DRY OUT Jack. DRY OUT is always identical to the input signal, with no change in volume.
9V Power Jack – Plug the output of the supplied AC adapter into the 9V power jack located at the top of the Soul POG. The Soul POG draws 150mA at 9VDC with a center negative plug. The Soul POG accepts Boss® and Ibanez® style AC Adapters.
