SIGNAL PAD
Passive Attenuator
Congratulations on your purchase of the Signal Pad. The Signal Pad is a passive attenuator that allows you to reduce the signal level of your instrument at the touch of a button. The signal path through the Signal Pad is completely passive; the effect does not require power to work. The Signal Pad’s power connection is only for lighting the LED.
- SIGNAL PAD APPLICAITONS -
The Signal Pad is simplicity itself. It’s like having the volume control of your guitar in a pedal. If you have a classic single channel amp, you basically have only one gain available to you. The Signal pad allows you to set up an alternate volume for controlling your amplifier. As an example, if your amplifier is set for a high gain distortion, you can run through the Signal Pad, to lower your signal level. As you step on the footswitch, your amplifier will back down and give you a cleaner tone with the same clarity and characteristics. You’ve just turned your vintage single channel amp into a dual channel, foot switchable amp.
You can also use the Signal Pad to set up alternate volumes to drive other pedals and pedal boards. For example, in front of an envelope follower pedal, such as the Q-Tron, the Signal Pad will allow you to change the QTron’s sensitivity. You will be able to switch between two different filter sounds without the need to bend over and turn the knobs on the Q-Tron.
- CONTROLS -
Volume Knob – Controls the output volume of the Signal Pad.
Status LED - When the LED is lit, the signal pad is active. When the LED is
off, the Signal Pad is in True Bypass mode. Power is required for the LED to light.
INPUT Jack – This ¼” jack is the audio input to the Signal Pad. The input impedance presented at this jack is 1MΩ.
OUTPUT Jack – This ¼” jack is the audio output from the Signal Pad. When the Signal Pad is in Bypass mode, the OUTPUT jack is connected directly to the INPUT jack.
9V Power Jack – In order to light up the Signal Pad’s LED, a battery must be installed into the Signal Pad or an external AC Adapter power supply must be plugged into the Power jack at the top of the Signal Pad. The polarity of the Power jack is center negative. It requires 9VDC at 25 mA. We recommend the Electro-Harmonix US96DC-200BI power supply.
